(0.623) Multiple crossbows

So I tried bringing two crossbows into combat. I figured they'd complement my two-handed axe quite nicely. Unfortunately, while they both show up - you can select either one - the game treats them as just one.

When you fire one crossbow, the other one is also empty. Sometimes I needed to reload both, sometimes just one... not sure. In any case only one bow would work.

Are you just not supposed to have multiple crossbows in combat, or is this a bug? Apologies if it's already been posted. Awesome game though

I guess as they are the same type, it's kind of pointless to do it so the game doesn't work with it. I'd go for more bolts instead of another cross bow myself.

Haha. When doing that part, I said to myself: "OK, It won't be possible to use multiple crossbows, but who would use multiple crossbows anyway?". It turns out I was wrong . The game has only a single flag to keep track of whether a crossbow is loaded or not. Now that you have discovered it, I'll need to fix that.

Well, keep flags for three crossbows and not only two - players being who they are, expect the oddest actions.

DarkUnderlord: Because if you're carrying four crossbows, you can't carry any ammo?

armagan: Thanks. I guess it's a bit odd, but since you can't reload on horseback it's handy having a couple good shots in combat instead of just one. Just bought the game, by the way. Horribly addictive!

Are there different types of crossbows with different reloading speeds? If that's the case, then couldn't you fire a heavy crossbow, switch to a light crossbow to reload, then switch back to the heavy crossbow?

It seems likely that any benefit you got from doing that would be negated by the time it takes to switch between weapons. Even if it did improve your reload time by a miniscule amount, that seems like an awful lot of work just to make your crossbow a tad faster; exploits have to be worth it, or else they're not exploits.
