It almost makes you wonder why these Bannerlord Celts are not so cool-looking or developed as their real-life counterparts. Some tweets emphasize that the Celts weren't some ragtags, and the Romans actually borrowed tech from them. Now let's see that in the game.

It is the everlasting debate; Battania more celtic and Sturgia more Slavic. Regarding the other factions, everything is correct.

So were early roman shields (scutum), the pilum (soliferreum), the gladius, and even the iconic roman helmets. And seeing as the Celts were more like a material cultural movement than an ethnic or linguistic group, The Romans were essentially Celts with some Greek inspiration. It's a real shame that people still take Caesar's propaganda pamphlet at face value and assume the celts were basically Uruk-hai.

The Romans never shied away from blatantly copying things they found in other areas of the world when they liked them. If they felt it'd make their army or society better they went all in. From architecture to swords to armor to farming techniques, they did it all the time.

They're treated like bandits dressed in furs and rags. They are the ****ing descendants of the first Calradoi; a little respect for the first inhabitants ffs.

But the sheer amount they ripped from Celtic culture is grounds for a class action lawsuit.

If only they made Battania more like 'actual' Celts rather than the crappy highwayman look.

I have no idea if the celts in the picture are historical they just look ****ing better.

Well, in order to make them look "celtic" for greater audience (that we expect will play Bannerlord), we have to reach for some slight anachrony.

Having in mind that the fan favourite faction Vlandia is almost anachronistic in its entierty, it is certainly permitted for Battania, in order to improve upon the visuals, worse to none.

The average gamer has just a vague image of a "celtic look" (in big part shaped by tye movie industry), and doesent mind if that armor is from 6th or 9th century etc.

Far from that the average gamer is stupid, on the contrary, they (all of us) have noticed the Battanian underwhelming and non-defined appearance, but just a very small part of them are that nitpicky about the smallest details that don't change the bigger picture whatsoever.

These are also celt, now a disclaimer I'm not for implementing ALL of the equipment in the images (especially the sword on the last one), but to follow that general look, with the ones you've shown.

Three words : Tartan, tartan, and more tartan !

Agreed on the more Tartan.

Anything to give the faction some uniqueness, as for the moment I feel they didn't really know which way they wanted to take the aesthetic of the faction and ended on a rather dull look to what could've been the coolest faction in Bannerlord.

If anyone have a head and body sample from Bannerlord ? It would be nice to create models of armor and helmets for game model proportions.
Or maybe the developers will give us these samples?

I would very much like to see in the multiplayer a fraction of bandits/merchenary, for fan and a small roleplay =) I hope the developers will think about it

sturgia's lore is extremely weird and inconsistent. I hope before or sometime after the release they will 'clean up' the lore (renaming units, changing armour, etc,). would be interesting to see a slavic lower class(vaegir ancestors) and a nordic upper class, then the title "hersir" would make sense for lords.

In what ways is it inconsistent?

The troop tree is nonsensical. There are mixed slavic and nordic inspired names that upgrade into one another. The armour is almost entirely norse-inspired rather than "rus/eastern european/slavic"-inspired, the location names are slavic inspired yet the names of the npc characters are norse-inspired, half the named NPC's in towns are called Ragnar, their purported inspiration is kievan rus/ruthenia/slavic tribes, yet everything we see in game except location names are basically vikings.

But we haven't seen that much of the lore yet. If Sturgia is based on Kievan Rus, then it makes sense to have a mix of slavic and nordic peoples.
