Moscow Dragoon Regiment

Until the end of 1812 the dragoons were the most numerous branch of cavalry and numbered up to 36 regiments.
One of the best regiment was probably the Moscow Dragoons. This unit was one of the best cavalry regiment in the army. Moscow Dragoon Regiment captured 4 French Colors: two of infantry, one of dragoons and one of cuirassiers. There was no other dragoon regiment in Europe with so many French trophies.​

The dragoons were often assigned the lion’s share of fighting in battles, were also used as occupation force, formed patrols, were in anti-partisan sweeps (Caucasus), guarded the convoys and transports (Germany 1813), fought dismounted in capturing or holding a village (Brienne 1814 and Mohrungen 1807) or bridge (Saltanovka, 1812). The dragoons helped to pull the cannons with ropes on the muddy roads of France (1814), escorted the wounded and important persons, and served as military police (Ingermanland Dragoon Regiment in 1812 and 1813). The dragoons were also used during sieges, in 1813 two regiments supported the infantry and artillery in the siege of Modlin, in 1810 Tver Dragoons (dismounted) served in the siege of Ruschuk. At times the dragoons served as escort of army headquarters (Borodino) or as gendarmes. In 1814, near Meaux in France, the Kiev Dragoons assisted in putting up a bridge by two companies of pioneers and one company of pontooners.​

The dragoons however had several weaknesses. They were vulnerable when facing lance-armed cavalry, and Napoleon had a lot of lancers and uhlans. The dragoons were also trained in some infantry duties, and for this reason their horsemanship and their swordsmanship put them in a slight disadvantage when facing other cavalry. (This is to say that all cavalry could fight dismounted, but the dragoons could do this job better.) If the dragoons struck the enemy cavalry in the flank, they were victorious. They were also quite successful against infantry.​

Here are some tips for the new guys to gain some respect and eventually promotion in our regiment.
Before we give some tips, we want to make clear that you don’t rank up by joining us and make a few nice kills. You have to put time and effort in our regiment to eventually rank up in our regiment.​

• Be active. Active members have the biggest chance to be promoted!
• Be able to attend our trainings.
• Be nice and don't complain! We hate it when somebody is complaining about nothing. 
• Try to get all your friends in the regiment and try to get as much people in the Regiment! This is also considered being active, but on a higher level.
• Be mature, and disciplined. Focus when needed.
• A form of common sense is required.
• Be willing to learn. Dont think you are better than anyone else.
• Never, ever surrender! Important rule!
• Never and never ask for promotion.
• And above all, have fun!

We are aiming to represent one of the finest regiments that existed, therefore our members must meet our etiquette.​

Following the Code of Conduct at your best will lead to promotions if the member is proficient enough to do the task.​

• They must be respectful to everyone no matter the circumstance. This may be fellow members or players out with the regiment. This also covers insulting someone, racism, bullying and discrimination.  At all times you are representing the regiment and must show the highest level of maturity.
• Follow Orders. This is extremely vital as you must follow orders given by your Commanding Officer or Superior to the letter and must be done so without argument or hesitation. If you don't agree with the tactics being used by your Superior there is a time and place to bring your point forward. During events is not the time and you must respect their decisions.
• They must learn and train to become proficiently skilled soldier in tactics as well as skill.
• A member must remain active to be a useful contributer to the regiment, attend trainings and events when you can and if not please inform us so that we know.
• Extreme behavior and discipline is to be shown at all times no matter where you are. During linebattles there is to be no head banging, fidgeting in line and aiming your weapon at a teammate. Members must use the Permission To Speak (PTS) system during events. This is to avoid anyone speaking over the Commanding Officer when commands are being given and PTS must not be abused. During linebattles the main chat is not be used by anyone except the Commander.
