Secession is a fact! The Confederate Army of the Potomac under Beauregard and the Union army under the command of Irvin McDowell are set to clash around the fields of Manassas. The first large conflict is however preceded by small skirmishes, this one around a small unknown town near Manassas...

Will you give the Confederacy their much-needed victory, or will the Union be preserved?

You decide!

Line Infantry Rules:
■A line must have atleast 10 men.
■Officer class distribution as follows (subject to change):
  - 10 rankers = 1 officer
  - 15 rankers = 2 officers
  - 20 rankers = 3 officers
  - 30+ rankers = 4 officers
■A line may be formed in single or double rank, in shoulder to shoulder formation (no gaps)
■May not crouch
■A line may only fire when it is completely (or near completely) formed
■Firing in the charge is allowed
■Due to the unruly nature of cavalry, they may be shot upon by line infantry out of formation
■When the line falls under 3 men or less, they must retreat to a friendly line and fight alongside them (unless you are under direct attack or exchanging volleys at a very close range)

Cavalry Rules:
■A cavalry unit must range from 10-15 men.
■A cavalry unit must keep coherense when moving out, though it is understandable they can't keep perfect formation. Simply moving together will suffice.
■When a cavalry unit falls below 3 men or less, it must dismount and join on foot with a friendly foot regiment. This is to avoid the dreaded lone cavalry man ramboing across the field. (They may keep fighting on horseback if they are still engaging an enemy)
■Cavalry units equipped with carbines or muskets may not fire from horseback, but may dismount and fire in a light infantry formation.

Light Infantry Rules: (14th Brooklyn and Wheat's Tigers)
■A line must range from 10-15 men.
■Light Infantry may form in a spread out line, with gaps about the width of one man.
■May crouch
■A line may only fire when it is completely (or near completely) formed
■Firing in the charge is allowed.
■Due to the unruly nature of cavalry, they may be shot upon by light infantry out of formation
■When the line falls under 3 men or less, they must retreat to a friendly line and fight alongside them (unless you are under direct attack or exchanging volleys at a very close range)

Special/General Rules:
■Manassas event: Buildings may be used as cover, but may not be garrissoned.
■For now, being on the same teamspeak server during the event will not be required.

We will mostly likely be using a modified version of the Civil War Town map.

Just asking why sin't it alloed to fire from horseback the guns are pretty inaccurate so the chance they hit something is pretty low

It's a bit of a try out at the moment. We'll see from the event whether this rule will need adjusting or not.

Following that link:

The Army of the Potomac was created in 1861, but was then only the size of a corps (relative to the size of Union armies later in the war). Its nucleus was called the Army of Northeastern Virginia, under Brig. Gen. Irvin McDowell, and it was the army that fought (and lost) the war's first major battle, the First Battle of Bull Run.

But sorry to spam the first posting with this

Lol, no problem, people are free to discuss on here and ask questions/give comments. I'm able to pick off the applications between them.

I also want to iterate that You don't need to be an established N&S regiment to sign up! All NW regiments are free to try out this mod in a linebattle setting. The 51st themselves aren't a N&S mod, but we had fun playing over the last few days so thought we'd organize something that we and the community could enjoy.

So feel free to join up, it promises to be a fun event!

As the rules suggest you can also dismount yourself and firing in a light skirmish formation. (meaning crouched and with gaps between the line)
