Skype's a VoIP program, it can do IM, voice-only or voice+video depending upon your needs, either on a 1-2-1 basis or group session.

Just think 'Ventrilo', only a bit different.

Yup. Good thing.

I'm quite content with the number of people I have on Skype at the moment. I find it's like facebook; one starts accruing people en mass, one has no ****ing idea who they are.

In this case, it's exactly like ventrilo.

Only without the need for a host server, as one person simply initiates a call.

That sounds an awful lot just like Messenger. But with audio.

Pretty much, but Skype's a lot better at it than Messenger, it's quite professional, it has business users and everything.

(They were pretty pissed off when the Skype servers went down).
