Where's the information regarding weapon type stored? When I checked xml files I couldn't find anything useful. Only thing I found in items is that weapon is composed out of 4 craft parts. Increase frequency for learning lower level smithing parts at mid/high smithing.
Right now you can have a character who is great at smithing (150+ skill) that's totally unable to make any pikes or throwing axes because he never got the part unlock, and could have a character who has many tier V parts, but is missing some basic tier 1 parts.
