I think Vlandia armies tend to get decimated too quickly when they're in infantry battles. Their cavalry are supposed to be strong in melee but other nation's infantry/archer combinations tend to wipe out the bulk of Vlandian forces pretty quickly. Which makes any cavalry supplement useless...
