Well, they did plan to have an alpha out already but it was delayed, so it can't be too far away. I remember reading somewhere that it would be out early next year. Whether that is soon or not, is an individual decision. 

The game wasn't really the zombie survival game I was looking forward to, but its still decent as a game. The near endless ammo supplies and the hit/miss melee combat don't really appeal to me in the current state. They should also add more variety to the gameplay to keep play interesting.
Nevertheless its a nice break from the L4D style. I'm still looking forward to possible future additions.
Why can't anyone make a zombie survival game, not a zombie slaughter game.

Not really, unless you give it to your allies. 

Don't you just love herding your companions. They need some fixing and fast.
If a companion dies (like they often do) can you take their weapon? If not, they're not getting weapons anymore.

e6750, 8800gt and 2gb of ram. Running on XP.

Yeah, its quite unplayable at this stage. So many aspects are broken, staring from the controls. Performance is another big issue. I don't mind the graphics on highest settings if it wasn't a complete lag fest.

Shame, they better fix it soon. Been waiting to play the whole day.
I hope its an error on Gamersgate's end, otherwise I'll be waiting at least till tomorrow.
Edit: My new download was stopped, I hope they're chaning the file or something!

Arch, you told them too early. I was downloading at a nice rate until now. 
Edit: Didn't get the game to work, just throws an error. Does it work for you Arch?
I'll try to download again.

They postponed release on Australian Steam for three days, go figure. Not a big surprise.

I'll join the party! I'm moving back to Europe next month and will be able to play quite a lot.

I wonder how it will turn out, although I've rarely liked customized servers anyway. For example the achievement unlock servers in TF2 broke the whole concept.

I would have to say Empire. Rome was also fun, but after a while it gets a bit boring.
I also love the time period of Empire, alongside the gameplay elements. They should hurry with the multiplayer campaign.
