    Plate and mail are not classified differently; the only difference between armours is the protection value.

    Different damage types are reduced by different amounts (cutting takes 100% of the reduction, piercing is like 75% or something) and receive no bonuses based on armour or lack thereof.

    Ok is there any armour\blunt effect?

    I noticed that the forum offers really nice combat guides but the practice on servers is looking different. Most of the combat is looking not like in some of such training videos with tricks n tips for gameplay. In fact its all about dmg output and length of the weapon, aswell speed. For example take the Axe 2H, you can literally one shot people doesnt matter what kind of armor they have, there are similar weapons and are almost same deadly. Iam sure there are some really good players out there who can master blocking with the shield and parry with the weapon, but the general fight doesnt work like that.     I see also some issues with spears/lances for infantry units, sometimes my weapon hits and sometimes not at all. I think there is a bug maybe or just a too huge dead zone, i counted it so many times that my weapon just does nothing even if a aim precisly. This happens also on the horse if you fight the next horseman close to you.......really strange and should get a fix. In comparison to the similar length of axe or blade weapons the dmg output is really weak.

    The armor in general seems not to work that great vs high dmg weapons, you are still a one shot kill also vs horsemans with their lance. An arrow takes 1/3 of your life doesnt matter if you have great protections, only 1h swords seem to do a lot less dmg. 1h Axes are in my expirience the higher dmg dealer, i die often in 2 hits only with medium armor.

    The game has a lot of potential but iam not really that satisfied with the current multiplay balance and weapon issues, hope to see some patches for this.

    I know this is old but just had to say this:  Man, this isn't Elder Scrolls or some game where just because you are the main character you can take 20 hits before actually dying.  This is Warband where, just like in real life if someone shot you with an arrow you would be pretty much screwed unless you had some serious gothic plate or something.  If you don't like such realism in terms of sustainable damage then this game is not for you.  Concerning the heavy 2h weapons, they have there weaknesses which I could go at lengths to describe but its better if you just learn the game.

    I found it.  It was not showing because it is not compatible.  Says that it is running on a newer version of mount and blade.  I just checked the Warband site though and I have the newest version.  ???

    It says "9.327" version to be precise.

    I don't.  I might be able to use a family members but I don't see why.  I play on an alienware m11x so I doubt its a problem with my computer capacity.

    Connection To Server Is Lost ?

    I know this is an old thread but I never had this problem until a few days ago.  I've been playing Mount&Blade since early beta and played Warband through beta.  Recently got W\Fire and Sword.  Sure I had an occasional connection crash but now I cant play for more than 4 minutes.  Has anyone found a solution to this?

    Ok I updated Warband and I have force single threading on.

    I made a character and clicked continue to fight the bandit.  Crash.
    Restarted and fought a custom battle.  After sailing around in circles for 10 minutes (is there a way to steer the boat???) I had no problems and finished the battle.

    So I made a test character "asdfasdf".  Fought the bandit and even did some trading in the market.  No problem!  So I Save&Exited and clicked Start New Game CRASH.  Really confused here.
    Is there any chance that the selections in my character creations could be causing this?  It seems I have better luck when I just randomly select attributes then when I make my "Irish Bard" Character with certain history and stats.

    I understand its use and what not but the role you play in the game really does not have much relation to glass making.  As a warlord, glass windows just are not really that important to your cause (good for smashing though lol).  Now, if they incorporated a religion influence system (build churches or shrines in your kingdom which could influence certain troops) THEN glass might come into play (just an idea).  Kind of like in the Total War games.

    news 1.38 Release 25/09/2011 (Update with 4 servers to Download)

    I just went to the mod db site and its authorized.  Downloading now (if it tells me corrupted files I am gonna be ticked...).

    Edit:  Successful download.  However:

    Crash one: When I tried to start a custom battle.

    Crash two (Run Time Error): When I click continue to fight the bandit in the town and meet the merchant (very start in other words)

    Crash three: With a test character I made it past the bandit and then to the campaign map.  I entered a city, but when I clicked "Leave..." it froze up and crashed again.

    I really don't mean to be disrespectful to any of the brilliant modders who have put so much time into this (I was impressed how much good history was put into the prelude!) but it really bugs me when a bug fix update version utterly fails at fixing bugs and yet is released.  I am going to try one more time.  If it crashes I won't post about it but I hope this is dealt with.  If everything works fine then I will certainly proclaim it here.

    What do you mean... "Real Life"?  Is it paradoxical to this one?  :grin:  LoL just kidding, I got school and a job.  I have not been playing for a while so I am interested to see whats new.  Can't wait!


    So, it's just about waiting for them to finish that thing people call 'Real Life' - something I have never understoond! - and get round to re-uploading!  :lol:
