  1. bikini show in my court!

You interrupted the grandmasters sexy ipod party.. how dare you! lol.
  2. Sieges - Killing them with boredom?

If we're talking realism and seige towers, firstly 1 tower for a castle seige isn't very realistic. Also the fact that the troops can't be already inside the tower as its pushed is also not very realistic. This is a problem with TaleWorlds, I hope they fix it in the next expansion and I hope they add proper siege engines to the game too.. because those catapults look great.. but they do nothing!.

I don't think its really worth *****ing about specifically towards the mod, rather its something worth *****ing about the general taleworlds release in general. Next expansion better have exciting new siege options (though be thankful we can even siege in this game, in the Beta they were just a special endgame feature.)
  3. How playable is this mod right now?

reduced the areas controlled by the TO to 5 castles etc etc.

Except that the Prussians can't seige and they can't remove the TO from ruling those cities and towns. If they could then it's likely they'd leave me alone and focus on annoying the TOs cities. I mean at the moment they behave just like any other bandit group.. when really they should be trying to push the government out of power (ie. Taking their lands back). I think their priorities are messed up just a tad.

The bandit groups however they're annoying because they keep building hideouts everywhere.. its making the traffic in the area pretty bad and the lords seem to just want to chase bandits all the time instead of actually seige and defend!. I think this is more an annoyance though with how Mount and Blade has always done this, not so much with your mod. I think if it was possible for the lords to ignore Looters and only focus on defending their lands.. it'd make a lot more sense- especially since in Vanilla Mount and Blade Warband you'd be punnished for doing at when being a Lord of the realm (the king would say "ARE YOU INSANE! they'll try to assasinate me next!") But I think there could be a work around here. The bandits are really only for the low level players to grind XP, so I don't understand why Lords are chasing them lol. You'd think it'd be beneath them to go bandit hunting.

Yeah teutonic order is a tough faction to start with, choose another faction like byzantine empire or france

Actually I found it pretty fine, but yeah, the non-thrown weapon factions would probably be a hell lot easier due to the thrown weapons being stupidly over powered- but this is a Warband issue, not an issue with the mod. Just a word of advice though, if you're a low level player, probably best to stay the hell away from Prussia, Lithuania, Poland and Russia - becuase there's a lot of thrown weapon soldiers there.
  4. Battle Size

you can either download a tool to do it or edit your preferences in the AppData folder.

    C:\Users\<<your name here>>\Documents\Mount&Blade Warband

    edit rgl_config.txt

    change
    battle_size = 1.0000

    to anything larger than 1.000

Be warned this can crash your game if your computer isn't powerful enough.

He isn't a neutral player if his lords/caravans/recruiters are Teutonic. Whether or not he's being ganked by rebels all the time isn't an issue, it's that the number of rebel parties is destroying all his caravans and keeping his lords from going on campaign. That's crippling.

^exactly my point. Ocassionally you can sneak a few through, but they don't make it most of the time.

The 'bandits' in Prussia (Ceuronian Warband, Prussian rebels and so on) aren't bandits, they're more like rebels against the Teutonic order. They aren't even hostile to a neutral player.

Its not just these guys though, when you add them to the already existing Common Bandits as well as the occasional 500 peasant uprising.. yeah, it ends up VERY crowded. The only way to effectively build an army is to do so myself through manual recruiting, but this is extremely risky because when I do so, I need as few escorts as possible to get a decent ammount of recruitment (we're talking 50-70 men here per run.. its not easy given the distance that I have to travel and the risk of attack.. it gets worse when I reach 50-70 as I slow completely to a halt almost- making it easy for them to catch up- the result is I loose a few recruits from being attacked and gain little EXP for it.)

I should get a screenshot of a few trains- so you guys can see what I mean.

One Idea I did consider is upgrading a few patrols to get rid of them.. this could work in theory, but at a great cost. I'm just thankful that bandits don't get reinforcements from other bandit groups like in some mods.

Your map gets crowded? It's rare to see bandits in my save game.

I should show you Prussia right now, swarming with either Bandit groups or Warbands- makes recruiting a complete pain in the ass because the recruiter dies before he can even get 1 unit. The annoying thing is that it completely disrupts any convoys I might be sending out or recalling lords to a particular castle- the result is I have to rely entirely on Garrisons (which is costly).

I think its because if you leave the Bandit hide outs alone for too long, they keep replicating and replicating.. eventually the entire map gets filled with them. Its a shame that Bandit hideouts aren't treated as actual towns because then the AI could clean them up.. as is only the player can do those quests.
  7. How playable is this mod right now?

I've been playing Pre-8 lately, been extremely good fun, but at the start its way too difficult so I'll give you guys some constructive feedback, I love this mod though its easily the best so far for Warband Singleplayer- I think what'd be nice to change the start of the game would be to make it so you could join some kind of town watch or militia to grind XP and Money doing random battles every so often, or better get some kind of passive job that give you minimal XP but a stack of money. At the early levels 1-8 its a bit difficult to play because the bandits are much better than you at combat, and your Horse most of the time is worthless so I've discovered (it dies from projectiles, which most of the time I can't dodge.) At the later levels it becomes fine though. Plus I've noticed its a bit difficult to become good at tournaments, whilst sure you could grind Training and Arena fights- this doesn't exactly prepare you for the sort of combat you'd face in a tournament (which is like 100x harder)- so that rules Tournaments out of being at all profitable at the early levels. And realistically you shouldn't be making much money from loot anyway. (Ransoms, Trade, raiding villages and Sacking were the way to go in this age. Not looting off of the corpses of your enemies- it just seems odd that this is probably the only way to even get a good starting in the game. Realitistically you shouldn't rely on loot as a means of income- else the Medieval age would have been total chaos and anarchy, which it wasn't... well.. to some extent wasn't LOL)

I've noticed that in the late game, bandits become a huge problem, they start spamming everywhere- and peasant rebellions occur every second too, which makes the world map a bit crowded and most of the time any major seiges are ruined because some moron lord decided to chase bandits instead of stay put.

Thrown weapons are still overpowered, but this has always been a problem with Mount and Blade, however in this mod its pretty obvious. Lithuania's troops are easily the most deadliest in the game because of their thrown weapons. I fought a battle where I killed 800 men with barely even 100 of mine- they won because of thrown spamming. (as javelins are usually 1 hit kills, plus they rip through any shielding.) It makes no sense then that France and England became world powers if Lithuania had easily the best weapons in the world..

Something that I found a bit odd was that you require a companion to do diplomacy- it'd be nice if it were possible when king be able to send a generic troop off to do it instead, only because I found that finding a companion in this massive world is very difficult- you'll rarely come across one- so if you were suddenly king and needed to quickly end a war, you wouldn't be able to.. which makes no sense.. you should be able to send off someone to do it for you.. granted you'd have more success with a companion (mainly because of a persuasion advantage).

I'm also sure you guys are aware that there are some major crashing bugs, occasionally I'll get "Script ERROR simulated battle failed" come up in red- on save it corrupts any save game I made. And will most of the time crash. Though I hope this has been fixed in Pre-9. I should really play that.

Also what'd be nice is to see the Hospitler and Templars as their own faction- only because the orders did expand after the crusades, the Templars had an increadible amount of power.. which we don't see in this mod. It'd also be nice to see the politics of the orders in the same way the Teutonic Order has.

Something that has annoyed me all along with Mount and Blade is how the recruitment system works.. What I found strange was seeing Lithuanian armies with Teutonic Knights in them.. It'd be nice if no empire can recruit outside of their base troops- I don't know how'd you'd govern this though, what'd be nice is if towns and cities would immediately convert to their new empire- and the player Kingdom could then select what troops they wanted (I don't understand why in Domestic Policy it states Troop types- maybe this should play into it a bit more.)

Music, some of it is great, but some of it ain't so great. I found myself using the Kingdom of Heaven soundtrack the entire time, definately suits the game more. But yeah it felt odd hearing Medieval 2 Total War music in this game LOL.

Either way this is easily my most Favoruite mod for Warband so far. I love how it brings all the communities work together, and the epic scale ensures that I don't get bored with the game anytime soon. Can't wait to see the next updates.

And yeah, the mod is very playable, its just there's some critical issues from crashing that need to be sorted out, but you can fix it via workarounds. (ie. Save often and in multiple slots).
  8. Ideas for next Mount & Blade expansion?

    Temuzu said:
Next step would be something like Oblivion, except from 3rd person, and realistic. One, free world, no campaign maps (Except once you own a kingdom) and random events, wars, starvations, ambushes, motivational speeches, drama, design your own castles and so on.

I recommend you check out this awesome mod for the game Pirates of the Caribbean.

    http://www.moddb.com/mods/new-horizons

Basically a lot of the features in the game that don't apply to Sailing would make an excelent addition to mount and blade because its based on that exact same fomular that Pirates! created, Specifically the "One free world" mode which they actually modded into the game (FYI its a massive game world.. wow! talk about take nearly 8 hours to sail anywhere in real time ) . I'm positive the same could be done to Mount and Blade but it'd look kinda disjointed. It'd be nice if the level data could be streamed in but because M+B relies on loading the map in I doubt it'd be possibly, this mod only gets away with it because it has no unique land masses out at sea- for Mount and Blade that'd be a bit more difficult. I'd love to see someone at least attempt at making some code that could in fact stream level data in. Designing your own castles already exists in one of the mods for M+B1 btw.
  9. Ideas for next Mount & Blade expansion?

You can marry companions in Warband, but you have to make them vassals first.

Yeah I realize that. It'd be nice though to do it without having your own kingdom.
  10. Ideas for next Mount & Blade expansion?

This is my ideal wish list, its not realistic at all but its something they definately should work towards if their budget could ever allow it.

    - More Diplomacy Options to make wars more interesting politically
    - Better things to do at the early levels 1-8 because mostly all you can really do is level up via Bandit hunting or Arena fights or at the trainer- More quests would fix this
    - Better looking face textures definately
    - Succession wars, Civil Wars, Uprisings and Splinter Factions would be great
    - I would love to see more SPY missions and gameplay focused less on larger battles but rather more on smaller close quaters battles, I would LOVE assasination missions and even to send companions off to kill lords/kings- I feel this is really missing from the game- plus this way you should be able to totally eliminate someone from the game.
    - Being able to have a family in the game, you get married.. so you should be able to have your own lineage too just like the other lords, you have children who remain in isolation until the age of 16- the boys either go off to fight in the wars whilst the women becoming ladies-in-waiting, this saves having to make new models.
    - Full Voice Acting (A guy can dream right )
    - The ability to marry companions
    - Make catapults actually WORK! also make more seige options, It would be nice if the engineering ability actually came up with a menu asking "Ladders, Seige Towers, Ram or Catapults" Alternatively too there should be more defensive options for castles. I would like there to be ram option definately as an alternative to Seige Towers, because they take too long to build and aren't as effective as you'd like them to be.
    - The ability to buy a house in any town or city- when you've got a castle its fine, but what about at the early levels? Maybe I enjoy playing a serf?
    - The ability once crowned King/Queen to select a specific Advantage for your kingdom- some mods did this once before (Native Expansion for example) and I think it should be in Warband because it really made your faction more unique. It should then also be possible to change towns to the governing factions unit type after time.
    - Vassal States and smaller nations to beat up on. Might even be just as good to declare every lord their own independant vassal state  this way you could have independant diplomacy and essentially screw over your own faction. Braveheart comes to mind where the lords sign a pact with the British essentially screwing William Wallace. Would love to see this sort of dirty play.
    - Better AI that can use the new formations system properly! I would be really impressed to see some flanking going on
    - An RTS camera mode with Mouse Command Input
    - Oh one last thing, this has REALLY bugged me, IF I capture the enemies King this should grant me a stronger diplomatic option where by I can get peace easier, and if the war is going really well, demand land from them too.

  12. B Other More Metal Sound Mod V2.2 for 1.010/1.011 & Warband 1.105+ *Updated 6/19/10

this mod is so awesome, fixed a lot of the annoyances with the game. Now it feels a lot more fleshy.
  13. What is there to do during peacetime?

*Fight. If you keep killing bandits during peacetime, you'll be very strong when war comes.

This is actually a bad idea, the king will punish you if you attack bandits when you are a vassal. So don't do it. You're better off sparking a war. You don't get into trouble for attacking a neutral faction to keep the warfare going.

I would however like for peacetime to be more about growing the economy, it would be great if the game relied more heavily on taxation instead of looting. And you'd spend peace time mainly for training up a massive army + garissons.
  14. Lords and Realms SIEGE LADDER PROJECT

    Man am I slow.

Great work, I've wanted to see this sort of thing in Warband since buying it, and I'm glad to see someone finally did it. Best of luck with the mod.
  15. Warband Battle Size Changer v1.5

The Battle Sizer simply reads that number from the file, converts it to the actual battle size you'll see in-game, and then converts it back and writes it to that file when you choose to save the battle size.

That probably is one advantage of the mod that it can convert it into actual unit counts. But its not necessary for people to need this with warband like we did with MB1. Actually what would be real hot is for an actual in-game implementation now- just bypass the process completely. I think that would be ideal if we could pull it off this time around.. I don't recall the reason for it not being possible last time but it'd be great if the game was actually able to do what your app does via modification. Just something to think about- it definitely does annoy me that the in-game slider breaks when you change this setting, fixing that would be awesome. It would be a lot more ideal for it to work inside the game while its running as opposed to externally.

Back in the original M&B the battle size was stuck in a binary file which couldn't be edited by hand (unless you knew what bytes to edit and were handy with a hex editor).

As someone who relied on your mod for a long time I have total respect for what you've done and thankyou, don't mistake my comments as disrespectful in anyway .
  16. Charisma too important attribute?

A combination of High INT skills and CHAR skills will get you really far. Use a combination of Training, Tactics, Surgery, PathFinding, Engineering (though not really a requirement since I manage just fine without any points here) and Wound Treatment, then with CHAR focus on Trade, Persuasion and Leadership. Trade is good for when you loot goods and need to sell them, using training will make your troops stronger (extremely important), Tactics makes it so the battles are easier to win (extremely important), surgery makes them less likely to die, pathfinding makes them move faster and lastly wound treatment to keep them in battle condition. Then leadership to reduce the cost of units and to make it so your renown doesn't cause routs, use trade to reduce the cost of feeding troops and improve the money you get from selling town loot (essential to staying profitable at the start).

Char and Int are easily just as important as each other at the end game, you shouldn't be relying on battle at this point in time because as a king its not really your place to be charging at the front- simply all you want is for their armies to rout then you can pick up some easy XP by killing the routing armies. (and on a 500 v 500 battle you get a LOT of XP).

You will need high leadership if you're a king because your vassal lords are very slow at finding good troops when you've only got one city to your name so I find myself relying on my own men more- they need to be trained well and need to have good morale else it becomes too difficult to beat off the enemies armies (eventually they do wear you down.. this is where having good CHAR comes in handy because the more men you have, the less the effect.)

I would say though having your INT higher than Char is a better way to go, there are far far more useful abilities that rely on INT and the additional skill points are insanely helpful. INT is the most important attribute, Char is the second most important so shouldn't be neglected. (what's the point of having high renown if you can't keep them all from routing.)
  17. Warband Battle Size Changer v1.5

I think its a bit overcomplicated for something that's as simple as going into the cfg file in your AppData folder and changing a 1.000 to a 6.000, I would advise people to do that over using a 3rd party app since the game already supports this- at least this way the setting is always set at the start of play.
  18. MP Native WarBand: MMO Persistent World Module!!

Err can the multiplayer part of the engine even support the world map? I didn't think it could.
  19. First Impressions of Single Player

This game feels wholly new and better polished to me. Whoever compares it to CA and their overpriced DLC vapour is quite wrong, to say the minimum.

The only reason I even meantioned CA was to slag on them. Their pathetic excuse of a sequel "Napoleon" was nothing more than the exact same game as Empire with very little additions- and many of the same bugs, its pathetic coming from a AAA developer.

Warband however, completely fixes a lot of the issues we had with the original Mount and Blade, adds many features that the modding community has been very eager to see offically implemented (such as multiple ranks), the game feels much more polished and was extremely cheap for what we got. I love what the company has done and for the price its given. This is why indie developers can be trusted to come good on their promises.. Warband was everything they said it would be, and its a great addition.

Excuse me for adding fuel to the CA v Paradox war .. I just hate CA so much now.
