TWim - TWf-exclusive image uploading site

Thanks for all the time and effort you're putting into this. I'm sure just about everyone who's ever used TWim over the years has been grateful for it, even if they don't remember to say it.

TWim - TWf-exclusive image uploading site

That email from the host seems a bit passive aggressive...

I'm sorry to say I haven't used Twim in a long time. I loved it, it was my favorite place to upload images for years. These days, though, most of my personal photos automatically upload to Google Photos, and Steam handles my gaming screenshots, so I haven't used Twim the way I used to.

Thanks for sharing that. I... I hope it's good. The graphics were kinda disappointing, but maybe it was recorded on a console. The character models, lighting, and animations could be better. Indy looks good, but the Nazis in the opening scene did not. My enthusiasm dropped in the first few seconds, and then slowly recovered throughout the rest of the trailer. We didn't see enough of the gameplay to know if it will be good or not, especially the combat. I love the movies, I want to be excited about the game, but I'm still skeptical.

    Movie Recommendations

the explicit sex scene with his famous Bhagavad Gita quote makes it clear it was imperative for the writer/director.
When I read this, I (momentarily) lost most of my interest in seeing this movie.

I just don't like this Hollywood trend of trying to make movies and shows 'grittier' with gratuitous sex scenes, violence, and swearing. When used in moderation, all those things can add to a story, but it feels like Hollywood keeps taking them to excess, to the point where it feels unnecessary and even detracting from the rest of the movie/episode. Say, for example, where a quick shot of the actress topless would have sufficed for story purposes, instead we'll get an extended scene of her and a guy, both completely bare-ass naked, with him pounding her doggystyle. Which feels uncomfortable to watch on the living room TV with my boomer parents. I'm not clutching at pearls, I'm just saying, that kind of thing adds nothing to the story. If I want to watch people **** I'll watch porn and see the whole picture.

Forum Feedback and Suggestions (NOT Game Feedback)

Hi. Just my two cents, but forums.taleworlds.com ought to link to this page, the forums. Sorry, but this homepage is useless (unless you wanted to go directly to one of the non-English forums, I guess), and as soon as it loads I have to click another button to get to the forums themselves. Not a big issue, just an observation.

What made you awestruck or astonished today?

So here's a story @Shatari would enjoy: I -and many others- spent 90 minutes tonight trying to catch a neighbor's calf. As in, a young cow. I was just leaving the farm to go home, it was after dark, when I saw a calf cross the road in front of me and disappear into the dark. A couple of other cars had stopped, so when I talked to one of the other drivers (one of our neighbors) he told me that a young couple had just bought a 'pet' calf and it had gotten loose. Okay, I thought, it's going to be an interesting night. So I went back to the farm, got out the side-by-side (two-seat off road vehicle), turned on the headlights, and headed out to go look for a dark calf, in the dark. What was amazing was the community response. Within minutes we had another side-by-side and an ATV out there, both with lights, and several people on foot with flashlights and headlamps. At one point later I think we had at least 8 people there as well as me. I didn't even know who some of them were.

I got super lucky and spotted it after 5 minutes, but what was amazing after that was how downright impossible it was to catch the stupid animal. We spent the next hour chasing it all over the place, in the dark, on foot and in vehicles. After chasing it around the field for a while we thought we had it cornered in an old lady's front yard (), but after a few minutes of cajoling it took off again, so back to chasing it around the field. The whole thing could be summed up by an hours' worth of the Yakety Sax song. All of this wasn't too far from the road, so there were several vehicles parked along the road with headlights on. The old lady in the house told me she was afraid there was a police manhunt happening. I'd left the side-by-side which was a dumb idea, turns I am too out of shape to be running around on uneven ground for any length of time. So that sucked. I wasn't the only one with a stitch in my side, either. The calf wouldn't let anyone near it most of the time, and if it decided to run only the ATV and the other side-by-side could keep up, with the rest of us running behind, waiting for it to slow down again. Just as I was about to give up the others finally caught the calf and put a rope around it. Whew. 5 minutes later it had slipped the rope and took off again. I was not the only person saying WTF, but it quickly ran into the undergrowth and got stopped. This time people tied every rope, collar, and halter to it they could find. When we finally loaded it into a trailer it was quite docile, but I think four people were hanging onto it with ropes, and the rest of us were staying close. I don't want to do that again for a while. That calf was not worth that much work, but its owners were very happy, so I might have made a friend or two tonight. It was an adventure.

I've never played any of the Ultimate General games (yet), but that reminds me a bit of Age of Sail. The frigate and small ship combat is really fun. The later missions are heavily focused on ship of the line combat, and they can be a slog because ships of the line in Age of Sail are just boring. Probably the most unbalanced feature of the game is the upgrades, though. You can upgrade your ships to give them substantially more health, speed, melee (boarding) damage, etc, and equip your ships with all manner of different cannons, including carronades that will do significantly more damage in close quarters (where a lot of fighting occurs) than standard cannons. All of this is great, except that the AI never uses any of this, so your ships can have significant advantages even over ships of the same class. It's not game-breakingly OP, but it's noticeable. And it would be easy enough to fix: just let the AI upgrade their ships and change their cannon loadouts. It might make combat even more interesting and unpredictable, too. That's one reason why I wish the devs would develop the game further, instead of moving on to the next game. They've made a fun game, now, keep building on that. Oh well.

On topic, are there any other upcoming games where I could get my sailing ship combat fix? I've always had a thing for games with sailing ships. (Every now and then I get nostalgic for Tradewinds 2 and Tradewinds: Legends. Anyone ever played those?) I saw a trailer for Republic of Pirates, a city builder RTS that looks... okay, I guess? Graphics look fricking outdated, but hey, who knows. Ubisoft has/had a (multiplayer, IIRC) fantasy pirate game that was announced so long ago, I can't even remember the name of it. I guess if it hasn't been released by now and I've missed it (which is possible), it's either dead or it's been in development hell for years. Is there anything else?

For a little studio, they always seem to have another project in development. Don't they still have to finish Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts? I gave up on Naval Action a long time ago, but I wonder if they're still putting out updates for it? I really enjoyed Ultimate Admiral: Age of Sail but I wish they'd keep adding to it. It seems like they've moved on to the next game, though.

    What's on your mind?

In short, cultural expectations and ingrained traditions. Christmas gifts often supposed to be a surprise. Different families probably do it differently. Don't worry, I got this.

Also, I meant to say this earlier: your beleaguered fortress of a country has been very much in my thoughts since before Russia invaded. I'd like to visit Ukraine someday, assuming you guys win. Even in my rural area I've seen quite a few people with Ukrainian flags in their front yards these past two years. You might be surprised how many people are on your side.

    What's on your mind?

@Adorno Thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate them. I'll find something.

Dude, I’ve only got one parent left alive, so I’ve got it easier than you. I’m also able to communicate with my parent about things related to them which make me worry, so that further reduces my anxiety. Don’t know what makes you think you’re in a better mental state than me in my beleaguered fortress of a country.

Seriously though, it’s not about problems but about how you can manage them. You need to learn how to manage your life or you will continue regulating anxiety with sickness.
Not feeling sick, just stressed. There's just way too much **** to do in the next 10 days, for honestly little reason other than cultural expectations and ingrained traditions passed down through the generations. Believe me, American culture goes wild to portray the Christmas season as "the most wonderful time of the year", from the Andy Williams song of the same name, to It's a Wonderful Life (run endlessly on TV all through December), to the countless garbage Hallmark Christmas romance movies. For some people, it probably is the most wonderful time of the year. For others, it's a stressful pain in the ass. For most people, I'm guessing it's a mix of both.

    What's on your mind?

Trying to figure out what to get my parents for Christmas. I'm honestly starting to panic a little. And by panic I mean feeling overwhelmed, not being able to think clearly or stay focused, etc. Plus I've got projects at work that I want/need to get done, I've got decorating to do at home, I'm selling a house, I'm trying to get together with people (who haven't returned my texts, argh), the list goes on. I've spent a fair amount of money already, and I haven't even finished shopping for one parent. My friend wants me to go computer shopping with him this week, because my computer's getting old, but I think I'm going to tell him I don't want to buy anything else until after Christmas.

And I know there are a lot of people, including some here (Weaver) who have much more serious problems to worry about. And I'm sorry.

TaleWorlds News: New News Necessary for the OT Neophytes

Actually, I agree with you. I'm sick of the posturing and the politically tailored statements supporting or condemning this or that. It's like international politics are being performed through Twitter posts, and the messages are intended to be read by the greater audience rather than the country/government to which they are directed. And yes, it feels like it all accomplishes nothing. As an aside, I've read articles where people have been upset because a government/organization/company didn't release a statement condemning something soon enough. What, you think another public condemnation is going to make it better? That's the same as offering "thoughts and prayers" after a mass shooting. The damage has already been done.

I do wish the US (and the wider world) would do more to stop what is happening in Gaza, though, instead of sticking with buddy Israel no matter what. I'm disappointed.

Who of the old guard are still around?

I don't believe he was calling you an orc. I believe he meant it as "...fighting a war against orcs, like you [are]". Although I agree that slurs have no place in conversation.

Who of the old guard are still around?

Water under the bridge. To be honest I've long thought of you as being pretty friendly, so if there was ever anything different I've forgotten all about it. I wasn't very kind to some (actually pretty nice) people, either, and I regret that.

Nice to see some familiar faces are still alive though, hope all y'all are well!
    Hey! You too!

On a completely different note: As fun as this reminiscing is, it's worth pointing out that it wasn't all sunshine and roses back then. I can think of a couple people I regularly interacted with for years who were usually as enjoyable to be around as a cactus shoved up my ass. Not to mention countless other, smaller incidents.
