    As a very amateur modder I was disappointed to see conversations moved out of xml. If I understand that correctly it will make changes to quests and NPC interaction much more difficult as it will be locked behind dlls. That's my only disappointment in an amazing update! Thank you!
  2. Resolved General Modding kit won't launch at all

    The tools launch for me but the only things that I can use are the scene editor (Editor selection) or when I Alt ~ I can type in resource.show_resource_editor_browser and can add new 3d assets that way. None of the other options open up any tools.

    How are people opening the particle effects editor? I just get "Done." when I try to open it but nothing happens.
    How do you duplicate items to create new items like release animations?

    Is there any info on what can be opened in the modding kit, and how to do it?

    Is it possible to make an item visually disappear when a unit is killed/incapacitated instead of remain on the battlefield? Specifically, I've created a sphere effect and assigned it as a mesh for a cape. When the unit dies the sphere floats in the air above their body. I'd like it to disappear...

    I apologize if this has already been answered but i didn't see it on any of the recent pages.

    What weapon skills, if any does casting magic take? It looks like the firearms mechanic but i remember Phantasy using the Throwing skill.

    Edit: just found the manual and saw it's clearly documented that firearms is the skill. Leaving this here for the clueless like myself.

    Heh heh, funny to see my snarky post resurrected. I'm glad i was wrong gsanders. You rescued this great mod from fading away and massively improved it! Forget about vIII and just keep on with the parts you are working on as you are inspired.

    I can confirm balrogs use area of effect spells in combat as i've seen them do so on siege defenses. I didn't realize the Vedmak are supposed to use ranged magic. They do quite well without it IMO.

    Eldritch Knights might make good front line fighter/mages for your army.
  8. Bugs in Phantasy 2018

    Just a reminder that tone is very difficult to interpret in written communication. Especially when reading strangers' comments, some of which might not be in their native language. I've found that for myself attempting to assume best intentions is a great place to start. Even if i see someone that is clearly being a jerk (and i truly think this is much rarer than it appears) i try to remind myself that everyone has bad days and says or writes stupid things. Man, i sure have! In any case putting any energy into their anger or jerkiness seems to be more harmful to myself than them by far, and seems like it just reinforces the rare true jerk, ie feeds the troll.

    I'm sorry if this comes across as preachy. My intent isn't to lecture anyone. I've just seen a lot of comments in these forums that to me read as curious questions or soft requests be interpreted as complaints or demands and that saddens me as i'd guess the percentage of excited fans of gsander's work on this mod is much closer to 99% than 10%.

    Hope you can feel our love and appreciation gsanders! Cause it's there and pretty overwhelming!

    Wow, that's really neat gsanders. I too was wondering if the staff still did anything now and have a few of my mage companions using swords instead. I'll switch them over.

    I'm especially impressed at the level of detail that lightning bolt does more damage to metal armors!

    Question for you. When you treat epidemics it has a listed risk of low, medium, high. What does that mean? Specifically what kinds of things could happen to you or your party as a result of that risk?

    How much renown do you both have exactly?

    I have 1171 reknown, Charisma 27, and Leadership 10. Party size limit is 190.

    (Side note: Inventory Management would be a great Party skill, never understood why that was Leader only)

    This seems broken to me. AI lords run around with armies of 150-300+ from the get-go, yet for the player it is nigh impossible to get a decent size army. Sure, you can grind like crazy, build a buff player character and solo-attack bandits for 50 renown a pop. If you do that for a couple of days you can sport a sizeable army soon, but in the normal course of play it would take you ages. I'm not calling for larger player armies, but maybe for a buff nerf on AI army sizes.     Agree with this. I'm well into a long playthrough and can field only 180 troops with 27 Charisma + 10 Leadership + lots of reknown + own a city and village. Most lords run with 200-300 troops, and some as many as 700+. The wood elf cities are impossible to take with the numbers i can raise. Don't get me wrong, i love how dug in the wood elves are, my flavorful. Just would like to be able to field a decent army so i have a chance at them and most other lords by this point in the game.

    I don't personally find the lack of bandits to be a big problem. There is plenty to fight. But those ideas seem like good additions if they aren't too labor intensive and don't add months onto a patch.

    Is it likely we will get a patch with some of the easier fixes you've implemented sometime soon. I don't mind if the one after breaks saves. It would be great to play with the latest-ish version every few weeks or so.

    Possible minor bug: Skaven assassin armors are weight 23 which is heavier than weight 22 heavier seeming armors.

    Quick suggestion to folks complaining how hard the start is. Take a point or two in prisoner management at character creation, go to a border and find a pair of armies at war and join the winning side. Then sell the prisoners at the tavern, even more profitable now that tavern keepers pay good prices with the current patch. Plenty of easy money.

    IMO it is too easy. You get a diplo bonus to the faction you helped and no penalty to the faction you sided against. You can join any side despite your relations with them. Spend a little time doing this, alternating allies, and you can have both sides in a conflict loving you and be rich.

    Suggestion/request for Nameless Warrior and gsanders: Would be nice to implement a relationship penalty to the faction you sided against. It would also be less exploitative if you could only join a side that you are not negative with. IIRC vanilla had both of these but i could be misremembering.
