  1. Resolved Companion HOLDING Bug

Sorry, but this is not the issue. I have on numerous occasions had less than a max party and my companions still come up lost. Good idea though
that's too bad. This bugs been an utter buzzkill regardless of what's triggering it. I really wish they'd at least add it to the known issues list...
  2. Resolved Companion HOLDING Bug

I have encountered this too. For me it seems to occur when I fill my party so that there is no space for the returning party. For instance, if my party maximum is 100 and I send a companion off with 4 troops, and while they are away I recruit beyond 95 troops, then this bug is activated. So, until it's fixed, just make sure there is room in your party for your companion and his fellows to come back. There may be more to it than this but it may be a workaround.

that might be it... I'm almost always at capacity, but I will say I have had companions come back successfully and then found I was over capacity and had to dismiss some recruits, and was still able to access my companion. I think maybe you also have to have all companion slots filled, and / or possibly also all prisoner slots filled as well? I haven't been able to test which combination of factors does it vs which doesn't because I always miss this happening until several in-game days have passed and by then I don't have a before / after save to play with.

As of 1.3 beta though, now this seems to be getting compounded further in that some of my companions that return from missions will appear in my party, but I won't be able to access them in the inventory screen. I think the same dismiss/rehire workaround should still fix it (though I rage quit so I haven't been able to test yet). I'm not sure if its related or not, but the circumstances seem quite similar.
  3. Resolved Companions "HOLDING" instead of returning from missions

this issue has been happening to me a lot in several playthroughs. It's been reported a number of times (if you search for "Ain Baliq Companions" you'll see a list of people reporting this. This is the first thread where I've seen it acknowledged.

Heroes go missing after completing missions and always end up in Ain Baliq. I'm not sure if it's related or not, but as of the lastest beta, even when heroes return from missions and end up back in my party, I'm not unable to select them in inventory to upgrade their armor / weapons. Their statuses show "travelling to <whatever city i'm in>"
