Summary:
after the recent hotfix on 1.7.0 (29/12/2021), my cpu usage increased leading to bad fps. I had no fps drops just 3 days back on same settings.

Summary: My benchmark results are all 60+ fps and in steppe and desert maps, my fps stays good, but in forest maps, my fps drops down to 40s

Summary:i get stable 60 fps in benchmarks, but in battles with even less unit size, i cannot maintain 60 fps and it falls to 40 fps stable sometimes. benchmark should reflect the actual in game performance but it is not the case here. Is this the game's fault?

Hi, after some more googling I found the reason for the issue and it is NOT Bannerlord, but windows. If you have the issue of RAM piling up, check this out: (it is a detailed instruction on how to use Rammap or emptystandbylist.exe to clear standby Ram which clogs some systems. So for the developers: It is NOT a Bannerlord problem. It is a Windows issue of prefetching too much files and piling up standby memory for big programmes like bannerlord and other games. Many people have the same issues with a lot of other games. Windows rather tends to use all your Ram which is a good thing, but it also tends to rather compress Ram or use virtual memory rather than to release currently unused or rather at the moment useless standby memory.
If your computer is slower than usual. one of the most common causes is related to Standby Memory problems. Here's how to fix it.
windowsreport.com
In the link there is one way described to do it manually with Rammap, or another to do it automatically with emptystandbylist.exe. I recommend the automatic way, though it is not well described on the site. Here is an excellent step by step video on how to auto clear standby memory and never be bothered by clogged up standby ram again: (the file you need ifor this is absolutely safe).
For further read and confirming this affects many users and many games and that the root course is windows:
I already did that test in afterburner and did notice what you're saying, HOWEVER, this should NOT be the case it's an inherent flaw from the game which MUST be solved by the developers, he SHOULD NOT need to upgrade to an ssd. I noticed that this stutter doesn't even depend on how much troops there are on the field, there could be 10 or 300, the stutter will happen, the difference is that they will be stronger and more frequent on higher battlesizes, although not by that much.
Upgrading to SSD reduces the amount of time in stuttering...believe me Stuttering in HDD is worse than microstuttering in SSD. 150MBps speed of well optimised HDD is still slower than 500MBps transfer rate of SSD
But it happens in this game...well next time you start playing start sysinternals process manager and check the hdd/ssd usage and the file which is currently been read when the stuttering takes place.. The major culcripts were the sound files when i analysed the IO processes.
I just answered your question about slowing...the game stores sound files in .bank format which requires decompression and hence high hdd/ssd activity, which in turn causes microstutters. The devs already know about it and are working on improving prefetching architecture for sound files.
It is your hdd the game stores the sound in .bank extension shich requires decompressing hence you get the stutters because hdd is slow in that. I would suggest buying and ssd.
I don't know if this was the most recent graphics patch or the update to 1.3 but I'm getting a wireframe on the world map terrain that is pretty distracting. The character models have it sometimes. I've only noticed it on the meeting screen with looters.
The character wireframing is hard to notice on the screenshots. You can see it on the skin of the right mostly, and a bit on the nose on the one in the middle.
This is the fault on your setting side go to amd control panel and set anisotropic filtering to application controlled for this game. This happens because the games anisotropic filtering and amd one clashes so just do the changes.
If you don't mind playing the game more beautifully, and more stable @ 1920x1080, 30 fps, you should be able to achive that with your specs on max game settings (mostly).
For mine, with the rest at max settings, except for the followings:
turned off "motion blur",
zero corpses,
200 troops,
V-sync off,
frame limit to 30.
The following is my system specs similar to yours:
OS: Windows 10 Home, version 10.0.18363 build 18363
GPU: Nvidia GTX1060, 6GB VRAM
CPU: Intel Core i7-7700HQ
RAM: 8GB, DDR4
Motherboard: P65xHP (laptop)
Storage Device (HDD/SSD): 1TB HDD / 120GB SSD (this is where the game is installed)
The problem is i can hit 60 fps constantly but the game stutters when i hit someone or when infantry lines clash and once the battle is finished ie enemies start retreating there is no stuttering.
