Need More Info Multiple crashes at the same point:cannot go further

Was going to write that you have to try that first. Same thing happens in sieges if an army attacks you sometimes.

Need More Info Easily reproducible bug in sieges/talking to companions.

Sent a few crash reports as it's easily reproducible and I've done it several times now after forgetting myself. So kind of annoying, but absolutely not game-breaking. To reproduce. 1. Form an army 2. Get in a siege. 3. Get attacked by someone. 4. Beat them. 5. Talk to one of your companions...

Bandit Hideouts need to be rebalanced.

Just attack the hideout, kill however many you manage to kill and retreat. Come back a bit later and repeat, until you can handle it.
Boring I know, but at least you can easily take down any hideout.

Another cheese tactic that works on anything but the biggest camps is Flans or companions with good bows and you with a couple of shields playing chase with the bandits. Taken down camps with 30-40ish bandits with that.

Just noticed this myself, beautiful addition

A battle that exemplifies everything that is wrong with battles atm

Also regarding the AI I at least wish that your companions that are still standing could take over. Instacharging/suiciding is pretty much OK with me if all the commanders are down. Various troops should still act like the right kind of troop, but if stuff continued in formation/tactical after all the commanders are down that wouldn't be as cool imo.

A battle that exemplifies everything that is wrong with battles atm

    Agree.

The athletics and speed degradation from using heavy armor in this game hurts, and when armor doesn't really make most low-damage attacks bounce off you it's really not worth it.

In Warband you could deck yourself out in 100% plate and take hundreds of swings from people on easy. I'm not after that again. However if you're in an endgame armor/helmet you shouldn't be able to get knocked out from 2 hits. All it takes right now, on easy, is 1-2 bolts hitting you wrong and you're out.

That's on easy. With armor for 100's of thousands of denars.. I don't care about realism at this point, because that's just dumb.
    oh sorry -
    First -
If you want to argue historic armor you can do that in a PM. At least keep it out of a post that's not dedicated to it.

    Hideouts making no sense

Yes hideouts are ridiculous, especially sea warrior hideouts. Currently around my kingdom there are 4 hideouts with 20+ sea vikings in there, impossible for me and 9 troops to go clear out. I've seen hide outs with 40+ enemies hiding and if you do attempt you are pelted by arrows or skirmishers. The only balanced hideouts I've found thusfar are the desert bandits + the design in their hideouts are nice. Wait a year or so for the modding community to finish this game for the devs.
Just enter the hideout, kill the first few bands/until you can't take on more, then retreat.
    Rinse repeat.

Not exactly fun, but if you want to get rid of them then it works.

    Hideouts making no sense

Well, I think they're a lot of fun and a nice addition, and should never ever be made into army battles. There are of course plenty of things that should be fixed.

Like I said the whole point is to challenge you with a select handful of troops without the army. Also there should be consequences to failing, and you shouldn't always get some reward for just attempting one like in your flowchart.

A few things I think needs fixing.

I think the number of troops you bring should vary depending on something, probably roguery. Even better, let the player decide between a max number dependent on roguery, and the regular 8 soldiers, and if you pick a too high number and are unlucky, the hideout just re-localizes to somewhere else and you lose your chance at it.

If it's true that they end up with 100's of bandits in the late game, then that has to stop because at that point it is an army battle.

You should be able to send a companion+troops to deal with them. If you e.g specialize in int/cha and can't fight for jack. Of course this can fail too.

The distance you have to walk to finish some of them takes for-friggin-ever if you're in proper armor and don't have 600 athletics.

Also the punishment is a bit too severe as many have said. You get knocked out, yes, but there should be a chance of capture and a chance of them just leaving you and your army rediscovering you and just losing the men you brought.
If they capture you, then do the normal thing, and if you have companions one of them could take your army temporarily, otherwise it should go to a holding. If you don't have either then you're sol on that front.

But the core idea, you+a few men vs overwhelming odds, that bit needs to stay.

    Hideouts making no sense

First, it's the 8 top soldiers, so you're free to pick who comes.

Second, I dunno how long you've played for, but I haven't seen any hideouts with more than 30-40 bandits myself and that's after quite a few hours. To me that seems reasonable for a challenge for a mid/late char.

Third, it makes all kinds of sense. Maybe the number you bring etc should be influenced by Roguery or something, but the whole idea is a night raid so all the bandits don't just disappear themselves. Which is also why you aren't shouting commands etc. If your whole army came crashing towards the bandits they'd be gone before you ever got close.

After a while those 8 top soldiers will be pretty godlike as they most likely are all decked out, well-skilled companions, yet it's a way for the game to give you some challenge even if you have a huge army.

So yeah, it's not an army battle, but after a while you will be very pleased to have something apart from those too.

700 days test e1.0.4 (images) (snowballing)

Yeah, not quite sure how long my first game was (on 1.0), but I played for 28 hours and not a single faction was gone, definitely a few huge map changes though. Around 5-6 hours into my 1.05 game and nothing major has changed map-wise.

I mean, if the stuff you're talking about sometimes happens it should definitely be toned down a bit, I agree.

However if you just run around for years and years and do nothing factions should definitely fall by themselves eventually. But yes. It should take a loooong time. Most map changes that happen without player interaction should be rather minor, but absolutely not non-existent, or always ignorable.

Why not just make wars fewer and further between?
Right now it seems to me people start and end wars willy nilly. If a war is started it should last a lot longer imo, but they should be a rarer occurrence unless the player initiates. Sieges should maybe cost the attacker a bit more, and lords should almost never defect their factions.

Warband was a bit to static in my opinion, so this change will most likely turn out to be a solid positive for me in the end.
E.g If I pushed someone to the brink of extinction, and then left them, my kingdom never bothered to finish them off without me making an army again and doing it. That's just silly.

Need More Info Early Access Graphics & Font Issues WITH TEMPORARY FIX

Can anyone that had this problem tell what their original region was? We had something similar with Turkey and Poland region during beta and fixed it, maybe there's more.
Mine was Norway as region and regional format, language English (US)

Just happy one more bug is at least figured out. Now off to hunt for more in the actual game.

Glad I finally bothered to try it. Was kinda the very first thing I thought it could be, but never could be arsed to actually change and reboot in the beta as I'm not really interested in multiplayer.

Where exactly do you do that?
Just search for region/country, and language in settings.

Need More Info Early Access Graphics & Font Issues WITH TEMPORARY FIX

I just find it super-strange that my old and new computer are both affected.
There are no clear things in common except the steam account used.

All the hardware including the SSD are new and completely fresh unrelated to the old computer, why I at first assumed some sort of localization thing, yet they're both affected by the same (seemingly rather rare) bug.

EDIT: and just so it's clear. Yes, I've since tried with other steam accounts. Also of course tried all the uninstalling/verifying and deleting possible. I think I've downloaded the game 7-8 times by now. Haven't tried changing windows or steam localization as I'm unsure what settings might have an effect.

Need More Info Early Access Graphics & Font Issues WITH TEMPORARY FIX

Yeah I don't really think it's a font issue, at least not just, as it clearly affects the 3d aspects too.
Honestly I'm kinda exasperated this whole thing.

I was expecting bugs, intermittent bugs don't bother me at all, and I'm happy to be of service and help uncover them.
However.. I've been in more betas and alphas than most people and to me this doesn't seem to be the garden-issue bugs, as in, stuff you'd expectto sometimes fail due to unforeseen consequences. This just seems to be all-around utterly ****ty programming because it clearly isn't a specific thing that's a problem. It's the whole thing.

How has this been in development for 8 years? I mean seriously. My first born daughter wasn't born yet when it was announced, now she's 8 years old and plays game alongside me. We reported these bugs in the beta a long time ago. Why are they not fixed a long time ago?

"Buggy" is expected for something like this. "Unplayable" for 1/4th of the audience isn't. Just, from a completely different world, but still the same, this is what grants you a guaranteed malpractice suit in the medical field. Or compensation for bad work conditions in construction. This is complete and utter failure.
