  1. I want to be a woman.

Ughhhhhhh - people get so defensive when you talk about sexism, or racism or anything of the sort - it's "but i'm not sexist... whine.... whine.... not sexist.."
If you're not sexist, why do you think the accusations of sexism are aimed at you? Maybe a little harsh - to put it more politely: If I think you're sexist, I'll tell you, until I do you don't need to argue against it"

Sorry, but while that may be true in some cases, most of the time it turns out to be bull.  People use sex and race as excuses when someone doesn't agree with them, or they don't like the outcome of the situation.  Think about it like this.  A man gets fired; he would be laughed into his grave for claiming it was because his boss was sexist.  If a woman gets fired; she can very easily claim her boss was sexist, etc etc, while in reality she may well have just been a lazy *****, and anyone that calls her on it is then called a sexist.  Does that mean that the person that called them on it is sexist?  No.  It means that someone is so weak that they have to use societies broken views and their gender as a crutch.

Again, gonna use my OCD as an example here.  If I get fired from my work, I'm not going to go screaming discrimination, using my sickness as a crutch, when in reality, I was being a lazy bastard and not doing the job they hired me for.  If I did, it would disgrace me, as well as others with my condition.  Just because you may be different in some way/ are in some "minority", does not give you the right/excuse to use it as an excuse and crutch any time you don't get your way.

    Attn: Facts incoming.

Mount and Blade was originally developed by a husband wife team, alone. That is as equal as you can get. Mount and Blade and Warband take place in Calradia, a fictional Middle Ages land based around fictional nations. These nations respected the female as equals, as is told in the beginning of the game. Mount and Blade and Warband both were developed by Taleworlds, with the original husband/wife team leading the charge.

With Fire and Sword was developed by an outside developer that came to Taleworlds and asked them if they wished to make a game based on a book that was written in the 1800s, about a period 100-200 years earlier. It was based around male nobility of the time, with their wives playing secondary roles. This game is meant to mirror the book, with you playing a 'main character' of sorts. This book, time period, and game would benefit very little from a female as the main character, as it fits with nothing it is about.

I'm sorry that everyone here wishes to make such a big deal about this, but frankly I find you all to be equally ignorant. Those that are saying they are boycotting the game because of this are ignorant of the game, and are fools that think the word stops with them. Those that insult women are ignorant for very obvious reasons, and deserve no response or any dignifying response. Both parties are a disgrace, and you should all feel ashamed that you let emotions take over reality, and let your feeling of self worth take over your senses.

To wrap this up, I'll share a little something about myself. I am a Native American, and as a Native American, there aren't a lot of games made about me, even in games with character customization. Do I boycott every game that does not have Native Americans? No, I live with it. Women are a minority in the gaming community just as Native Americans are a minority everywhere. Women in the west are not oppressed beings, nor are they minorities, especially the white females. You are the majority, and this is an oddity in human history. As such, feel glad that you are now equal, and no, not having female characters in a game does not make you oppressed, nor does an ignorant 15 year old making sandwich jokes. If you find the need to continuously be insulted over every little thing about your sex, you will die a sad, lonely life, as no one will want to be around you, both women and men.

    This.

It would have been like me boycotting that show "Monk" because it portrays people with OCD, like myself, as being germ fearing weaklings.  No, I boycotted it because I for some unknown reason, have a deep-seeded hatred for the main actor, not because the show so offended me that I felt it would be an act against god to watch it.

... P.S.  I've been awake for far too long now and I'm kinda sick, so if this post didn't make much sense, now you know why.  If it did, that means I won.

Seems to me people expect so much from this game because you have to pay for it. I don't really care how it stacks up to warband, I care about how it stacks up to the free mods floating around. They say flat out this is worth your money because it's a professional level mod, but if you poke around even a little bit you can find better for free. That's aggravating. People are going to complain.

Then again, that's just your opinion.

I don't get why people like you think their opinion reigns supreme over every one elses.

Just because you think there are better mods doesn't mean everyone else does.

No one made you buy the game, you should have waited for the reviews.

This game has been out a week, we don't need to see the same people posting the same **** day after day.

dude waht YOU dont undestand is that THIS is also just YOUR opnion the game sucks balls this game is not even worth 15 dollars i didnt brought the game i pirated it dude i sure that someone with averange skills on modding cluld make a mod way better than this game just look at free mods such was europe 1200,1755,imperium graecun and actually there are also a infinite amount of mods for the first MB that were better(and i say again free)1866,star wars, age of blackpowder and etc

This post bothers me... I'm not sure why.  I don't know if it's because of the over-use/use in general of the word "dude", or the fact that this youngling feels the need to say he stole the game.  Either way, I feel a bit dumber for having read it
  5. Fun, but realistic?

    Wu-long 说:
Hey this guy does bring up a point maybe if weather affected a gunners aim and etc it would balance things out a bit more. Anyhow this realism is pretty fun although i find big rocks better to hide behind then buildings, and wagons aha.

Aiming, no, but I think the rain should slow down reload rate, due to the extra care to prevent your powder from getting wet.  If they took even more aiming away you'd be better off beating them to death with the muskets than firing them lol.
  6. My take on game, thus far.

    Drew213 说:
Not only that the levels of bandits/bad guys all the way around the table is 20-30 men larger than the previous games. With out any other starting map locations, I quickly feel like a hooker. Standing on the same corner, waiting to get jumped by some larger bands of men.

honestly I do not like gunpowder weapons, but you seem forced to use them to make it.

Prices are to high for everything and why? Not like the loot drops are uber, on top of that they pay you 1/4 of what they sell them for. I mean one shot from a gun at 10-20 feet, and your dead. Even with full health or 85% health bar. The shield aspect as mentioned prior makes it useless.

Rethink and rework the systems in place. Allow a country selection or pirate/rebel faction starts, with quest lines that are epic and lead to greater triggers campaign wise that make it more in depth and worth trying over and over.

    Thank you for your time!

First off, I'll have to disagree (if I read correctly) that the bandit groups are too large.  Starting out, you are quick enough to outrun them.  With proper troop management and mediocre fighting on your part, you can easily defeat the majority of enemies you run into, barring you get hit by an actual army.  Making them or having them smaller would be pitiful and there'd be no challenge at all to them.

You don't have to use blackpowder weapons, but you do have to adapt to them.  Adapt or die, one might say.  You cannot play this game like you did in the other two, or you and your men will die quickly.  You can use bows; you can use swords.  You can use whatever you want, but you have to use them in a different manner.

Get some mediocre armour to start out with.  I bought the half-armour thing, and it helped me out alright until I get a bit of money to get an ok chest and found a helm.  I can't take hit after hit after hit from musketeers, but I'm not suppose to.  And if they did less damage it would make them pointless to use, because the enemy would immediately absorb that first shot (if they are armoured) and commence to beating your ass while you reload.  Believe me, the armour helps.  That being said, things are expensive to an extent.  The better weapons, you're damn right they're expensive, and should be, but they aren't so expensive you'll never get them, and the same goes for armour.  I raid and pillage the country side, and I can get just about any weapon/armour piece I want in less than 10 minutes or so.  You just gotta learn how to get the money; it really just comes down to what you're willing to do to make money.

I really have to agree with you about the bandit factions.  I've been wanting to start off and join a bandit faction since I played the original game, but seem reluctant to let me do so lol.

That all being said, if you don't enjoy the time period and black powder weapons, you're not going to like this game, and would be better off sticking with Warband.  If you like the time period and black powder weapons, then all it takes is a little getting use to.  Personally, I'm happy to be out of Calradia

I can't wait till the people who are wasting pages and pages of this with unintelligent babble about how terrible this game is because it's too hard or you can't go head-on (you never could) against enemies with ranged weapons, comparing this to the total war series for no reason, and general nonsense.
I will say it has it's flaws but I quite enjoy it and I am hoping that when the dust settle those who genuinely care about this game and want to help make it better (rather then sitting about and complaining about it) will be left.

That has always been the taleworld's way and shall be until bankruptcy.

I'll thank you sir to kindly step off.

I'm very critical of this game but I believe the criticism is warranted.  It was released half-baked and I demand better.

Many of the game's shortcomings were problems that existed, were known and were even modded out by players over 2 years ago, and as well were fixed in the subsequent game (warband).

Criticism, especially when warranted, is not hate.  I do not hate anything, but I will not overlook this gratuitous lack of effort.

Keep in mind though that there is a difference between criticism, and mindless bashing of what, in all honesty, is still a pretty good game.  Yes it has its flaws and shortcomings, and to me it seems like TW realized this as they only charged me 15 dollars for it.  Criticism can be good, don't get me wrong, but continuous bashing and arguing in circles accomplishes nothing, and in the end will only hurt the project.

Anyway, while I may not necessarily agree with your post, I do appreciate the fact that it was, at the very least, civil.

Constructive criticism is the only useful thing you can do if you are displeased.  Crying, whining, and throwing tantrums does nothing but annoy the community, hurt the image of TW in the eyes of possible future clients, and make you out to look like a child.

    2. Multiplayer moments so funny it makes you cry

I read this and it made me think of the other night when I was screwing around in a duel.  I was hurt, I pretty much knew I was dead, so I said to hell with tactic and decided to make a last ditch effort.  My opponent and I both had pistols, he missed his first shot and ducked behind a horse to reload.  I snatch up my pistol, run towards the horse, leap into the air, over the horse, and shoot him in the face on the way down.  Personally I was expecting to just miss completely or kill the horse, and I couldn't stop laughing at what had just happened.
  10. I Just can't wait till these haters are gone....

*slowly sits down, letting out a long sigh as I rest my musket across my lap*

It really is refreshing to see a post supporting the game, aside from so many of the ones filling this forum up with hate threads.  I'm loving the game right now.  There's nothing more satisfying than running an enemy down as they try to flee the field, or being in a tight situation, both muskets are empty, my armour is poor, and I am no swordsman; the enemy is moving in on me fast, it's just me and him but he looks like he can handle himself, he's closer and I'm almost dead, when out of nowhere I hear the sound of a single musket round flying through the air and see him take the hit directly to the head, crumpling to the ground.

I played the hell out of the first MW, warband just seemed more or less like the same thing (I'm a bandit, I don't much care about marrying and building an empire), with the exception of multiplayer, but that got old after a little while for me.  This game has everything I loved and more, with the exception of a few minor issues, that the original MW had, and take into consideration that I'm in love with black powder weapons and this game is a masterpiece for me lol.  Honestly, the only thing I really hate, is that they didn't let me get my hands on a blunderbuss *grins wickedly* imagine the carnage that thing would inflict on a peasant at close range.

Not quoting that whole above post, but from what I gather, it's not being marketed so much as a total expansion, but an expansion on the existing combat system.  Emphasis in combat system as in the earlier post.  If I'm not mistaken/misinformed, then that would probably explain a lot of the confusion.

Yes it says the combat has been expanded, i think everyone could deduce that this expansion was the inclusion of guns.
And sure like posted above, nowhere does it mention gender... So how where we supposed to figure out they decided to change a bunch of other stuff like playing as a women and having your own kingdom?

oh you're right, we werent because it's a combat expansion where they've only changed the combat.

No need to get smug with me now.  As far as I'm concerned, the gender thing is really the only big thing they've removed (aside from the tournaments, which I dearly miss), so at the very least for me, the game is still very enjoyable, more so for me because I love this time period.

I'm female and the thing I loved so much about the first mount and blade and mount and blade: warband was the fact that I could play as a female character

Really?  What in the name of god kinda premise is that for enjoying/purchasing a game?  I understand that people like playing as their own gender usually and all that, don't get me wrong, but if you play a game, damn near solely for the fact that you can choose be male or female, then that's a really shallow way of doing things.

  16. WF&S Redeeming Features

I just gotta say, all the people that rag on how the game is too hard and the equipment is too expensive, clearly don't understand how the combat and such is suppose to work.  I like that this game is "harder", it means more thinking, aside from my typical MW tactic (run in circles with my horse archers set on follow).  And as far as money goes, I just made over 3000 in less than 5 minutes.  Admittedly, it's not going to buy you a grenade, as it shouldn't, seeing as to how grenades are the most powerful weapon you could get your hands on, and should be reserved for people who worked for it.

Also, those of you complaining about your troops dropping like flies...  Learn how to use them.  They are not invincible and they will die if they have a poor leader.  I can easily (emphasis on easily) slaughter a group twice my size, so long as the group isn't composed of large amounts of cavalry.

    Redeeming features:

    1.  It's different.

    2.  The fire arms are fun to use and require more measured shots, hence more tactic than previous MW ranged weapons.

    3.  Higher damage and less armor really takes away the feeling of being invincible.  You are no longer a god on the battle field, laying waste to hapless enemies.  Now you are a man, a soldier and leader who has to use his brains more than pure force to win the day.

    4.  The implementation of the circling carriages makes for some interesting and varying combat scenarios.

    5.  The ability to pick fights in taverns and rob wealthy townsman gives us something different to do, aside from commanding our troops to (insert your usual tactic here).

There's more but I don't feel the need to continue listing, and I'm sure alot of this has been mentioned before, but I felt it was needed to remind the nay sayers.
