    It seems like sort of a no-brainer, but when most of the major features are stable and complete, are there plans to add in a whole load of fluff such as more unique dialogue texts from civilians or unique locations (such as ruins you could explore, or abandoned camps etc.)?

    I think some more of things like that would really flesh the game out and breathe a whole lot of life into the world.

    Huge patch, very nice. I hope, now that a lot of the foundations of the game have been stabilized and fleshed out, that a lot more of the patches will be meaty boys like this one in terms of content.

    Nah dawg, the base game is pretty solid, the only problem is that there are missing features and a lot of the ones that are there are quite shallow. They need to add a whole load of fluff to the game, but there hasn't been any solid information that they're actually planning on that which is a bit of a shame.

  6. Remove the weapon switch stun please

    I think it's all for the spears are too weak.in fact,I just learnt it not long ago.Your foe can basicly block the spear 100%,and when he gets close,the spear deals 0 damage.And that's how TaleWorlds think spears are.
    When the game first released, you could use the spear and switch to a sword and attack in one fluid movement, almost like you never changed weapons. I personally thought it was badass and was a very unique way of fighting, though possibly unrealistic and broken, but you essentially could use the spear at distance and switch when they are in close.

    I was a bit disappointed they changed it, and it was a big shadow-nerf to the already lacklustre spears, but I believe the general consensus was that weapon-switching was pretty busted back then. The best case scenario would be to fix the damage model of spears so that you're not forced to swap weapons in the first place, but I'd be even happier if they made weapon-switching times based on the weapon itself, so a small dagger-like blade could be pulled practically instantly compared to switching to a two-handed sword.
  7. What are you playing right now?

    Been playing Arma Reforger for the past few days. The game is fairly bare-bones in terms of content, and has huge multiplayer stability problems, but when it's working it has to be one of the most immersive games ever made in my opinion.

    The new engine is a big upgrade over the last in terms of graphics, physics and controls, and almost every item you interact with in-game will have a corresponding animation. The main 'Conflict' mode which is a PVPVE game mode was really slow at first, but after people are figuring out how it works now it's really starting to grow on me.

    In a bit of time, with some more weapons or vehicles added in by BI or by modders, and with the multiplayer issues fixed up, this game will be well worth it even just to keep you going until ArmA4.

    It's a nice feature to have, and is absolutely essential if you're using spear+shield combo, but I agree that it could use some reworks because it can be abused and can stifle the flow of gameplay.

    To be fair, he's one of the few people that talk and suggest about the actual game no matter how silly his ideas can be, rather than *****ing about the development itself.
  10. Consider Setting Up a Battle Mode Server in CN Region

    Absolutely, this would be a good compromise for OCE players too as it's quite playable on EA servers with our ping compared to EU or NA which is pretty much unplayable for us. Two birds with one stone right here.

    If they're confident that they can release the server files with-in the next few weeks then it's fair enough waiting, but if there's still significant work to be done then it'd make sense getting the test files into the hands of more people to bridge the wait.

    Love your work NIN3, you've done a good job of holding the multiplayer scene together, and providing hope for the future of the game no matter how antagonizing we can be. Keen to see the new patch, and hope you do well in your future endeavours.
  14. Custom Servers Beta Test & Battle Mode

    I urge TW to support custom maps on servers like Warband did, look at the massive backlog of maps some servers can choose of. This was what Warband native casual servers kept running for a decade.
    I really hope custom map support is not an optional thing to implement for TW, it is probably harder to implement than Warband but a massive strength of the games and keeping the diversity in the game.

    The good news is that they seem to be working so far on custom servers, according to a post at the top of the page. I imagine at this point no 'support' really means they won't be providing fixes, no auto-download and can't be held to blame if things go wrong.

    I suppose this is fair enough until they fix up the bigger issues like crashes. The sooner they can start to get some real support out the better of course.

    I think some modding teams have already shown some of the possibilities on the multiplayer modding front already so it is probably only a matter of time... However, we won't be officially supporting mods at this stage.
    Awesome, I'm sure the release of server files will open up a whole can of worms for the modding scene, and it's completely fair that there's no official support for it so far especially as we're still in early access.

    Will servers be able to enable/disable anti-cheat themselves in the future? I'm sure there'll be some cases where this will be useful, unless the anti-cheat also doubles up as anti-piracy.

    I meant custom map and mod support would not come with the initial release of the server files.
    Not exactly expecting an answer to this as it's still early days, but with players managing to mod and play with custom maps back in the beta days, has this been specifically disabled now or would it result in servers being taken down?

    The second that players can test and play with custom maps, the multiplayer scene will get a huge influx of content and most definitely a huge influx of players with that too.

    Well, ballpark it. Are we talking the end of summer? This year? Past 2022?
    It will be a very long time my dude. Custom maps might not take too long but I feel like custom modes will still be a long way off, likely requiring a ground-up rework.

    According to the developers it leads to more crashes, though that may have been fixed by now. The reason the server hosters can is because they quite literally just have to enable it when hosting.
