  1. Favorite Total Remake mod?

    moonrgr 说:
As far as I know Silverstag is the only mod that basically put AI lords at the same place as you. They recruit new troops using the same method you use, and they can build improvements in their fiefs just as you can.

While that's interesting, I've actually never built improvements (they just didn't seem worth the enormous expense, and I always did have an engineering companion obviously) in Brytenwalda or Gekokujo, and I'm not a fan of levying troops if you're not a lord of that faction - and even then from your own fiefs (what would you say as a lord if another lord from your faction levied your peasants?).

I'm hoping for a relatively realistic recruitment system that does not make it easy - but when you're a powerful lord or a king, you could get massive armies. Essentially at the start it's vagabonds, bandits, mercenaries, people you've liberated and who've sworn to you (this shouldn't be too easy - after all they were sworn to someone else before being captured and would naturally want to return to them!)  and your companions until you "make it".
  2. Favorite Total Remake mod?

Just finished up Gekokujo and am now looking for the next experience.  Have also played Brytenwalda and VC, but didn't, in the end, finish those.

If I wanted a mod that:
    - Performed very well with high battle size numbers, with good, balanced troop trees  and a nice battle AI that produce interesting and challenging battles, with good battle terrain (relatively flat).
    - Had BIG armies.
    - Had an improved focus on a more consistent and improved economy
    - Had an improved campaign AI (lords not running away when in a group so easily) and logical declarations of war (not halfway across the map except unless supporting an ally, and then actually sending help)      etc.
    - Had a scaling difficulty in the endgame: factions that are runaway and upstart get pounded on by the others who might cease their hostilities to take care of the bad boy
    - Would feel "finished" and stable, and internally sound

What would I pick?  I'm looking at Blood & Steel, Sword of Damocles and Prophesy of Pendor right now, but there might be others - Native map mods are also welcome.
  3. Modding AI decision making: stop them from running away when on campaign

Thanks. I'll see if I can't add that bit.

And no, the AI is not right to run away, as I'll just catch them one by one and slaughter them in boring, easy battles instead of big, huge battles!
Lately I haven't been running elites, as I am constantly training troops from villagers up, so that shouldn't be the problem.

I notice that sometimes, rarely, the AI does seem to collectively go after me (a very weak lord starts to run away, but then pursues me along with a stronger allied army), so it seems like the functionality is there, but faulty somehow.
  4. Modding Q&A [For Quick Questions and Answers]

Is it possible to mod AI decision-making, specifically the decision to pursue or run away another army?

My problem is that AI lords on a campaign together, let's say 4 lords of 150 strong, all run away when I approach with my 250 strong force, instead of counting themselves as a 600 strong force and pursuing me. This creates problems, as you all know.

    Thanks!
  5. Modding AI decision making: stop them from running away when on campaign

Thanks. To be clear, I want the AI commanders not to run away from me (or others) except in desperate circumstances.

The problem is that when, say 3 AI lords are travelling together on a campaign, let's say all of them 150 strong, I approach with a 250 strong army - they all run away because they are individually smaller than mine, but together they'd be 450 strong and could easily take me on (by numbers alone). But I'm betting it's difficult to mod a switch that stops AI from running away when traveling in a group, so the only recourse is to stop AI lords from running away except when their force is very small (bandit-sized).
  6. Do the Vikings, you know, actually try to conquer Britannia now?

Yes, I suppose Northymbre will have to do, Nottingham is their winter quarters for this year after all - but maybe that faction should have just been named the Great Danish Army or something similar to make it crystal-clear - Northhymbre makes one assume it's the Northumbrians.
  7. Do the Vikings, you know, actually try to conquer Britannia now?

Topic says it all. At launch, I observed NO vikings making any sort of raids or conquests on Britannia instead shuffling about in their home countries, despite being constantly at war with British factions.  I decided to shelve the DLC until this very basic issue was fixed - is it?
  8. Modding AI decision making: stop them from running away when on campaign

Hey there, would a kind modder care to help me with a campaign AI problem I'm having: my force, at 263 strong, drives away any and all AI parties I meet, as a rule. This is a problem, because when a faction is on a campaign against me, they run away because individually they are outnumbered...

  10. On Beauty

And don't get me started on Solveig - is she supposed to look beautiful? Her face is bloated to the point of Hulkishness, and not she-hulkishness at that I might add!

Now that I mentioned it, all the faces seem bloated and huge compared to earlier M&B mods.
  11. Raiding is not worth the reputation cost imo

My reputation is something like -370, I've raided each monastery exactly once (no farming, that's just ridiculous, they wouldn't regenerate for years if at all in some cases).

My plan is to simply join the Great Heathen Army in Britain, but I wish the Danes and the Norse actually sailed over to help! Otherwise it's just going to be Northymbre and me vs. everything.

I'd say that the Danes and the Norse sailing over would sail over to conquer would be a very, very important fix for the game. In fact, one deserving of its own thread even!
  12. Seriously? Ending the story ends the game? [Developer answered!]

What? Seriously? I don't want to read the spoilers, but it sounds seriously retarded. Why should I have to restart in order to play sandbox after the story? . I suppose I'll put all my kingdom building plans on hold - or failing that I'll just have to reload back to the save before the end battle and go from there, assuming stuff happened.

Any chance of a fix on this? I could just put the game on hold near the end.
  13. Did the vikings continue to raid monastaries even after establishing the Danelaw

I decided that I'd raid each monastery exactly once.  Only Finnian is unraided, as the kingdom actually tried to defend it by sending a force after I landed. In addition , in the storyline monastery trip, I made sure I both bullied and then pillaged to get the proper penalties - just pillaging didn't ruin my rep with the neighbouring kingdoms.

Self-policing. I don't raid villages anymore, either, or if I do, I only loot the items that were available for sale - the rewards are too much otherwise.
  14. Fleet management: how to pick the flagship or leave ships behind?

    The topic title suffices.
  15. christians hate me? possible bug or naw

Every single Christian town hates me with a passion. I suppose that's good and proper, being a raider of monasteries, but it does create a kind of imbalance though as there is absolutely no chance of establishing farmsteads even in neutral factions like Northymbre.
  16. ATTENTION! Possible fix to a lot of problems!

Turn off Autosave - how exactly do you turn it off?
  17. Stuck in battle mode after winning enemies

After I beat down on some thieves and robbers, every time, there is no "you have won!" indication, no troops cheering, the only thing I can do is to retreat. What gives?
  18. Stamina in Viking Conquest

How is stamina different from Brytenwalda in VC? I always turned that feature off as the game made you an unathletic slob and didn't affect anyone else. The description says it affects everyone now, but I'm still not sure. Also, how does the AI cope with stamina? Does the AI know to stop and...
  19. Gekokujo: Bugs and Suggestions

    Mkhedari 说:
But in this mod, you only get one RtR point per war concluded, not three.  So it balances out.

Unfortunately, it does not balance out, as evidenced by my RtR score in the 70s. There's almost literally a new war with 2-6 new enemies and a peace within a week or two with each of them constantly.

I really do hope it could be changed to a more normal war mechanism.  Maybe I'll try it out anyway and just treat it as a "everyone is against everyone constantly" that's part of the period.
  20. Gekokujo: Bugs and Suggestions

Please work on the campaign system so that the wars & peaces are not randomized as they are. As it is wars suddenly flare up with clans on opposite sides of the island, and it seems that there's a diplomacy randomizer that runs periodically and randomizes wars, sometimes my clan got suddenly into a war with 5 clans at once, and totally random - I reloaded and tried again and always a different result.

I'm on the cusp of forming my own clan but then I thought I really don't want to face that war & peace system - I want wars to have meaning. The provocations between border clans are good, but as it is there doesn't seem much reason to it all.

Also, I noticed I got into the 70s with my Right to Rule just by constant random war & peace in a relatively short time - as a vassal. Why should I get it as a vassal?

I will put my game on hold until this changes. I wonder if there's any way to fix my RTR back down (to what value, I don't even know....)
