Ya a lot of the infantry spawn with those throwing spears rather than javelins. Their projectory is really crappy when the AI throws them, often just right in front of them.

I have an army of 80 men and in every battle I can see at least 20-30 throwing spears on the ground. :dead:

I think this was readjusted in one of the recent patches. Are you sure there's been no improvement lately ?

Mmh. I did start VC as it has already been 2.005. There it has been still the case. And since then I have hold them on "hold your fire", so I can't say either if its still like this. I will try  it next time.

I also tagged them as a special devision. Currently I can field over 70 Huskarla and Hesir. And of course I don't use them in the first line. I lead them myself, mostly in flanking maneuvers to crush the enemy shield wall or to breach a wall. Only for those special purpose they are deployed. Usually I don't loose more than one or two of them in a battle. So that's not my Problem.

What I meant was loosing what you called mid tier infantry. For me those are Rekkr and Thegn. The issue about them is, that they are much more effectiv then Hirthmatr and Dengri and thus levelling up much faster then those. Since my army is  an pyramidal system with e.g. 100 Hirthmatr, 50 Rekkr and 35 Huskarla I have a constant growth in the ranks of Huskarla (wich is good) but a decline in the ranks of the Rekkr. This is because of the fact I mentioned before: The Rekkr and Hirthmatr are in the main line, but the Rekkr are leveling faster because they get much more kills. So my elite is stable or even growing, but my mid tier declines while campaign goes on. That's what grinds my gears, since I have to stock those up again after the end of the campaign. And to level up some Rekkr costs much more time then to level up some Hirthmatr.

But I can truly understand that you hate to loose those skirmishers. I loved to use them in Brytenwalda. But also there they already have been hard to replace, especially since the skirmish line is a dangerous place and thus they naturally suffer heavy losses even if you miscalculate their position between enemy line and your own main line just a tiny bit. So in VC I didn't bother yet to deploy skirmishers. Most of the units at least have Throwing spears so I usually just command them to throw them in the right moment thus they use their throwing weapons to some good effect. If I would let them "fire at will" they would just throw them much to early and so waste them. The AI is quite stupid there.

    @kaiser
Yeah sailing around Briton is a pain in the ass. Because of this I did build up two fleets. One Fleet usually lies at my refuge near Bosvengh and Caer Dyf while the other lies in Dunwic, or before I got this as my hometown, in Lundenwic. This way I don't need to sail around it but can just cross the island and embark within my second fleet.

Loosing over half of the men would have been unacceptable for me. I may have more then enough pennings and also a nice profit in my buget, but loosing money by loosing my high valued warriors really grinds my gears. Maybe I am a bit to passiv in the game because of this since I try to go to battle as less as possible. One or two decisive blows and then hopefully a peace agreement so I can conserve an almost intact force.

I experienced a strange bug while rescuing a lord from the prison: After I got the prison key the Lord didn't follow me but instead he attacked me, so I had to beat him down resulting in him being wounded and thus left behind. Also all the guards in the stronghold did not only attack me as it should be but also attacked each other.  When I told the lord to stay back and not to fight alongside me he didn't spawned outside the prison, but after I killed all the guards I got the message, that the lord has been wounded never the less and again that he was left behind.

As Odins-Fury allready mentioned: For the first Settlement to conquer the costal assault is a great option. I did it this way too. I did build up an elite force of round about 230 men (mostly Rekkr plus an elite guard of Huskarla), got two Busses and one Skeid and then I assaulted Dunwic and a short time later Lundenwic. Dunwic did have more than 600 men in the garrison and Lundenwic did have over 700, but since the majority of those troops have been low level troops my men just massacred them. All in all I lost less then 40 men to death (thanks to Asbjorn). But this tactic requires quite some time for preparation. I played on full realism, so I did need a long time to level up the troops, and even more time to collect enough money to build up some enterprises throughout the city's to finance this elite army while it has been still in the process of raising. It also demands a good refuge.

Thanks for the very very very fast answer. So it has allready been known as an issue.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but I found a strange bug at the refuge:

I stayed in my refuge waiting there when some vikings had the idea of attacking me. When the fight started the battle didn't start in the layout of the refuge but in the camp layout.

    P.S.:
Thank you for this great DLC. It's the best in Warband I did ever play. "A clash of Kings" has been great, "Brytenwalda repolished" has been marvellous but this DLC is just plain amazing. The only things I could wish for more are a load full questlines such as the questline about Eriu and some more realistic bandit scaling (at least in full realism mode I am currently playing in). Don't get me wrong: I have a great profit from the Bandit scaling as it is right now, but it doesen't feel right if there are more and bigger bandit partys as there are normal people and traders. Everyone would starve to death in such a land.
  8. Brytenwalda Repolished 1.05 (updated July 15/2015)

    Hi
First of all: Nice Mod and nice repolishing. Thanks for the hard work.

    In the secound place:
I played the mod for a while and I recognized that there might be a bug within the injurie system.

While the attribute loss after an injurie is completely restored within some time the HP loss due to attribute loss (Strenght) seems to be permanent.

My Character usually had 73 HP on Level 27 but later I recognized that my Chracter has just 60 HP left.

Does anyone know a way to fix this. The problem is that I can't just edit it in the character export file.

    Thanks in advance
