    I will say that it is possible to continue the story.  After I talked to the king and had the "Sigurd tried to kill me at Ulf's farm" talk, I could then approach the king and have the conversation I was supposed to have, which then led me to get Egil, and now I can talk to Sigurd.  So it just seems that some quest dialog kicks in at the wrong time.

    Having a bit of a "problem".

    I just finished in Frisia and arrived in Danmark.  I raided the Sven's refuge and saved Bodo.  My current quest objective is to go speak to the king of Danmark before I try to talk to Sigurd.  However, for some reason, when I approach the king for the first time, he enters into later storyline dialog.  Specifically, he starts the dialog as if I've been to Ulf's farm and killed Sven's relative, and as if Egil is in my party (I don't even have Egil yet).  Any idea why this is happening?  It's a completely new game, and I even deleted all my previous VC saves from older versions.

    I'm aware.  I'm saying I wouldn't mind regardless.  But you have identified that a Norse faction in northern France is unlikely.  A Frankish faction, however, could still work.  I do hope someone will do it, whether it be the team or a modder.

    I'm aware of this.  This is why I put "Norman" in quotation marks.  The Norman faction would simply be a Norse faction with settlements in Frankia/Francia.  Kind of like the Kingdom of Northymbre.  You did present a conundrum, that being the Norse invasion occurred in the 10th century, but I'd be ok with it being in game if they chose to add it.

    I've seen some people express a desire to see Frankia on other topics, but I thought I'd make a request here.  I think adding in Normandie and part of Frankia/Francia would add an extra dimension to the game, especially since in both Brytenwalda and now this Viking Conquest DLC we've seen...

    Why wouldn't it?  I assumed the problem was that trying to register via the WSE pop-up was the problem because WSE runs on an older version.  If we were able to register our game through a different method, wouldn't that resolve the issue?

    indeed.  I just created a brand new account through the main taleworlds website, hoping maybe that would work.  No luck.  I registered it and signed into the forums, but when I tried to sign in to the main site it told me that my username or password are invalid.  So that's two accounts now that it refuses to acknowledge.

    At any rate, I'm not sure the policy for having two accounts.  I haven't posted on the other one, nor do I plan to.  If TW would like to delete the second account, I can provide them with the info to help do so.

So when you launch WSE it wants you to activate it but you can't because you have a new CD Key. Without WSE you can't run the Deluge or Silverstag. WSE2 does work with the steam version of the game. But you have to download cRPG to get it, and it seems to actually be missing functions from older versions of WSE. So as you play you'll come across lots of error spam, and some stuff just doesn't work, like the companion inventory in Silverstag.

    ah I see.  hmm.  Which is why I wish I could register my game manually (by signing into the taleworlds main website), but unfortunately TW still won't let me register/acknowledge my pre-existing account.

    I'm very puzzled as to how we got old versions of this game?  I bought my copy with the steam sale in July, so I'm not entirely sure why my activation key or game version are "old".

    Indeed.  That's what is so unusual.  In steam, the game runs fine, as do most mods.  However, those that use WSE run the game through the non-steam format (as in when you click the wse launcher, you don't get a steam pop-up saying "starting mount and blade: warband..."), and as a result demands you input your activation key.

    just downloaded and installed the non-steam version.  Unfortunately I'm now getting a "Application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)" message from only the non-steam version. 

    You mentioned registering on the main Taleworlds site.  I seem to be having trouble with that.  It recognizes my username when I register a new account, so it won't let me register.  However, when I try to log in as an already existing user it says invalid username.

    This.  Our 4x4 steam activation keys are the problem.  When we try to use them to register our games on taleworlds, the keys are denied.

    also having this issue.  There are plenty of mods out there that don't need WSE, but I do want to try that mod, so this is a bit of a bummer.

    I also apparently can't log in to the main taleworld site with this account, even though when I try to register a new account it reads all the same info from this one and says an account already exists.

    I can answer that question.  Several players (myself included) enjoy building their own kingdoms by taking over the Crownlands region.  Some, like myself, stop there and find great enjoyment in participating in the subsequent politics of the game.  Others expand and go for world conquest.  However, for many it appears a slight inconvenience is that the villages of the crownlands recruit westerlands units, meaning vassals don't have their own culturally unique units to recruit via the native recruitment system.  I think some find it a bit "immersion-breaking", for lack of a better term.  It's basically a cosmetic-immersion complaint.

    Now, with that said, I have already stated that it is damn easy for players to add their own custom crownlander tree to solve the issue, and considering it seems mostly for their own player kingdom's use they won't have to conduct any complex coding things. 

    In short, if people want crownlander (or goldcloak) units, they can tweak the files of their own game to make it possible, but I heartily support Cozur's opposition to making that an official feature.

    I heartily support town-specific recruitment because it will allow greater unit diversity.  I despise seeing westerlands armies with nothing but lannister gear.  The armies of King's Landing and the Westerlands were a mixture of Crownlander and Westerlander units.  Town-specific recruitment will open the door for increased variety, which I greatly enjoy.

    Now, for all those who seek a separate "crownlander" unit tree, you can make your own (FOR YOUR OWN PRIVATE USE; if you ever wish to distribute it, you will need Cozur's permission) very easily with the troop editor.
