How do i give my troops XP?

There are two Steward perks that let you trade armour (paid in promise) and weapons (giving hands) to xp after battle. You can select what to give them in the loot screen, I generally keep anything worth over 400g and turn the trash items into xp.

Constant Warfare : Did Taleworld adress that ?

You're midway through a major war and you're clans all vote to start a fresh war with another faction. Then, when your enemy is on the ropes and down to their last couple of strongholds, your clans vote for peace. Some logic would be nice.

I guess there's no harm in discussing battlefield hacks now...

When enemy is reluctant to attack (generally only when they're outnumbered), do a solo skirmish. Snipe off one of the their flanking cav units, melee them if they chase, then kill commanders to crack morale, and then ranged units. When archers route, follow them out of enemy range before killing, loot arrows and begin again.

    Understanding trade penalty

I don't know the trade formula, but I just did a quick test to give you a reference point - my char only has appraiser perk (-15% equipment) and bought a 2H sword for 96k, sold back for 40k.

So you get approx 35% more than me. I'd guess it sounds about right, it's supposed to reduce your loss not eliminate it entirely. They're not going to make it so a player can buy out the shop and instantly sell it back for a profit.

Any weapons companions can use half way decently on horseback?

Yeah mounted melee companions couldn't hit a bus. But like some others I found glaives the most effective. Craft them at around 140cm long so they're also still usable for close quarter foot combat. Hammer head and Bill heads are only tier-2 in smithy, they're ok until you unlock voulges and razors in T-4, and ultimately the long glaive head in T-5. I also found they seem to do better with a 2-h axe than 2-h sword.

Having said that, I make them all bow, shield + 1h sword (preferably swing damage only, no thrust attack). This works the entire game, polearms require good body armour, not great early on when you're doing hideouts etc. IMO they're more of a mid-late game alternative for companions - and late game you're probably relying more on armies than companions anyway, once the non-stop total war phase begins.

If a companion maxes out their 1-H skill (and has spare focus points) I switch them to polearms or 2 h axes, by this time everyone has good armour.

Character Traits - How do they work?

I just don't understand what they even do. Is there a point to trying to bother raising traits?
I think they increase persuasion chances in dialogue options with similarly-aligned nobles. My (positive) traits are level 2 and when convincing a lord to join my kingdom, one option always gives a 100% critical success if the other guy is honourable. Strangely even if they're devious that option is still very high like 95% if I recall.

    Spears feel weak and unsatisfying.

Spears are pretty sucky, opponent smothers you with short range weapon and it's basically ineffective. However the polearm branch excels with glaives, both mounted and foot. Best when you craft them, approx 120cm for foot, 155cm general purpose and a 200+ mounted. I crafted a 235cm glaive that slices infantry spearmen while staying out of their range.

    Losing garrison troops

Playing sandbox Beta 1.6. Set to unlimited wages and disable auto-recruit, troops still vanishing and being replaced with trash. Just wondering does this affect everyone or is it just a few isolated cases? I don't know if its a bug or is it somehow related to town prosperity and food? I don't...

    Mystery crafting 2 handed Polearms

I have the same issue, tried many combo's with the voulge head. Using one of the longer guards to extend the length I get all the required stats but always fails. I thought it might require a specific end piece (hilt) but gave up trying every hilt combo. Still worth doing as it pays about 60k even when the buyer isn't satisfied.

    Question

Your question is not entirely clear, but if you want to successfully attack a city or castle, attack with either a bigger army, or an army with lots of medium or high tier troops. Also fight in-person, don't choose the auto-resolve option

    Listing all Unique Items

Ok I get ya now. When you say bandit kings sword do you mean Draguandil? I'm playing vers. 2005 and it seems to have lost damage from the previous version, mine only does 32c/26p after being tempered

Yes, you are right, Trymchr. But it comes with a very hefty penalty in reputation and naturally, relation. So, do it if you are playing the good old viking type of character.
BTW could anyone confirm that if the robbed lords could regain their equipment upon release? Since seeing them slowly turning into a peasant while cursing me and maybe my mother is so much fun, I hope it would last and see them lead their troops in a peasant tunic with bare hands

ps: Yes, I did not like the penalty so I loaded a previous save.

I think they do get their equipment back after you release them. Although I am not sure if its the same items.

The gear I've got from captured Lords (via dialogue) were given to companions, they still remain long after the Lords were released.

It'll cost you -25 rep & -50 relation to the Lord (if married -50 to his wife too). I save game before robbing them, reload if theres nothing special. The best two items I've got so far are:

    1. Goidelic noble long sword, tempered does 39/17 damage (beware if you want to loot this because I also stole another Goidelic noble long sword that only did 37 swing dmg tempered). I prefer Ulfberht a better all-rounder, 35/26 damage, if you're clustered sometimes you can't swing.

    2. Elite Saxon Halsberg armour. Has the same stats as the random tournament prize ("fine armour pelt" thing) but weighs 24 instead of 26

    We want Morrigan back! [Spoilers]

I don't play M&B for it's "immersive story line". IMO all M&B's have short, linear stories, NPC conversations are shallow and have little end-game consequence. If you want depth, substance and game-world consequences, try any Bioware/Black Isle Studio's game.

I've played dozens of RPG's that have deeper, longer, and more immersive stories and NPC interactions. There's probably literally thousands of better-story RPG's that I haven't played.

I love M&B, but I play it for the combat which is pretty much unsurpassed in any game. With M&B's 2-dimensional NPC's, to keep Morrigan in my party I have no problem simply not completing Morrigan's quest. If I was pushed for a "story line reason" to keep her around, it's because the player and Morrigan are lovers.

As far as I know they're automatic

    Thank you for the feedback

Just wish to give a short but honest feedback about my experience in VC so far:
You guys did a wonderfull job, the "viking atmosphere" is very good (as far as a game can be) and the suport in this forum is great. Keep the good work

I agree, have played M&B since 2008, but VC (since reforged) is the best M&B ever IMO. Aside from the new content it's got rid of so many native annoyances and limitations.

I even forgive losing my beloved overpowered horse archer builds   (though I've always figured the realistic solution was to allow short bows-only when mounted)

    Lord relations

    Liffy 说:
Maybe there should be a mechanic where other lords fear players with high renown and massive neg reputation? Therefore allowing you to retain their loyalty albeit through fear.

Good idea - if it was balanced so that as soon as you appear weak your Lords have a high chance of rebellion. History is generally unkind to tyrant leaders, Caligula's "let them hate me so long as they fear me" didn't really work as intended

    What are the special traits?

I don't have a special trait, my regular trait is "strong" but I don't know what it actually does?

This is my second play-through, my first guy had "beserker" which came in handy when he was exhausted and surrounded (by pressing T)

Anyone know if/how you can get certain traits? Or list what they actually do?

    Thanks for that.

I reckon Lordly/Masterworks should make a comeback though, ever since orig M&B it was always a fun goal to constantly shop every city for something uber rare, especially when trying to max out all your companions equipment. It stops shopping from becoming stagnant.

    Agility Characters

I did not know that, if so, if a huge flaw and should be shown as a true value on the character sheet.

RPG's reduce attributes, skills & stats into numerical values so players can do a certain "builds".

Quick Questions - Quick Answers Thread

    1) Is lordly & masterwork gear still available from vendors? I haven't seen any for sale since reforged.

    2) Is there a garrison limit when you're king of your own faction?
