  1. Escaping captivity

    Maybe just me but sometimes getting captured is beyond irritating. Last night I sat for a good 2 to almost 3 hours as a captive because I couldn’t escape to safety. As soon as I would break free (or bribe more than once with an insane amount of money) other swarms of goons from enemy faction immediately snatch me up and throw me in prison. Maybe not for random escapes but if you’re paying for your release wouldn’t it be a good idea to have a “protection period” where nobody messes with you?. Even if only for a minute or two or until you hire troops.
    i learned to go check if i have leftover mounts. you can only run with one spare mount or you take an atrocious level of herding penalty. they seem to have fixed the herding penalty not updating until visiting a town bug that used to exist so all you need to do is ensure you aren't taking any speed penalties and you will outrun every group chasing you. yes sometimes this requires you to do a bit of running in circles or deeper into enemy territory away from a congested frontline if bridges or crossings arent safe

    with the improvements to siege where the ai will retreat and resume siege if they no longer think they can win/lose their siege engines the perk that allows your medicine stats to apply to enemy troops to increase the number of wounded is now detrimental it gives the opponents more wounded that...

    i think it would be an interesting mechanic to play around if they came from edge of map and if the ai were better at recognizing that they have pushed into the opponents spawn.

    Hello, gaining influence when releasing prisoners is intended as far as i know but i will ask about both and update the devs. Thank you for your time.     based on what the mechanic is from an ingame perspective it dosnt make too much sense to gain influence as a mercenary when releasing prisoners. as a mercenary influence is a measure of how much work you have done for the nation you are contracted with. releasing prisoners into the wild as you attempt to speed up to escape an opposing army is clearly an act detrimental to the war effort from an ingame logic standpoint and i fail to see why caladog high king of the battanians would say AH yes here is your 400 denars for the release of those filthy vlandian war captives i so desired to fight myself. rather id expect to LOSE influence for the fact that im effectively giving his opponents more men to fight with.

    part of the issue is that all units in a formation follow the same logic. if you stick your infantry into any of the "tight" formations they slow down. this includes those troops reinforcing your lines from all the way across the map. its also what leads troops to get caught on eachother when you tell them to assume shield wall formation exposing their back as they endlessly attempt to crawl their way to their new assigned position. troops told to assume a specific location should always run to get to it as fast as they can unless some other condition is met like enemy troop within x units or projectile came within x units recently.

    i know im necroing but this bug has resurfaced in my current playthrough is it known if it was only solved for fresh campaigns? or should i recreate it and submit the file
  8. Resolved [e1.5.8 Beta] Texture are not loaded/messed up

    this thread had three stages part one only some players reported the bug. then after one of the hotfixes we had effectively everyone reporting an even worse version of the bug. finally an unmarked update from steam(same official version) rolled the issue back to the previous bugged but playable state with some players (myself included) having effectively no impact from the bug unless our game session is left open for many hours.

    i hypothesize that its tied to the preformance of various machines but not enough players have given accurate specs to assess that.

    as an addendum to this. you can randomly get a second of a skill point you previously selected but each level seems to have a maximum gain of 1 per attribute so if you arnt paying attention you can waste skill points. further you can also (found for bow not checked for others) give them more than 5 focus points into a child via education thus wasting the point.

    i literally sent you the file after making that bug in the 1.5.8 beta. i can start a fresh campaign to see if its tied to the campaign save file and not the game data. try having them follow the step by step instructions ive given atleast twice now as to how to find the bug. second file incoming shortly.
    edit1:tbh im not sure i owned the game before 1.5.6
    edit 2:can confirm i didnt purchase the game until January 28. thus the earliest possible campaign is after the version at which your QA team claims the bug was fixed.

    no ik im ribbing them over this one. they just slapped my post w/ an automated response to send them a file when i layed out exactly step by step how to reproduce the bug. and my post even said i didnt have a save file for it.

    yes im aware but its not on their list of in-progress bugs as far as i can tell. just because their may be workarounds doesn't mean its not embarrassing to miss something like this in the initial design. i didnt test exhaustively but i definitely couldn't set someone to the role while in chat w/ them the one time i tried.

    @MArdA TaleWorlds any update on this i sent the file in with the bug already in effect. just try to assign one of the remaining companions to be scout and notice that it cant be selected from the party screen despite not currently having a scout. the companion who dosnt have "the wastes" was my scout before i made him caravan.

    hmm its possible that higher end computers compensate for the issue better. my computer has massive capacity leftover even at max settings. and i was able to play for about 6 hours today before i got even a glimmer of the issue. i didnt get any fully lost textures but some only ever loaded a blurry version meant for distant rendering

    i too have been playing for about 35m now and i have none of the beginning stages of the bug that i would previously have had by this point.

    bug recreated file sent.
    edit: i would recommend that the fix attempt to catch all other potential similar bugs by running a check any time a companion leaves the party for any reason. not sure how this plays around other potential sites like governor dispatched companion for quests death etc. further for dispatched companion an additional QOL improvement to give them the role back when they return if you havnt filled it again in the meantime.

    unfortunately i don't think i have a save file but i doubt this is an intermittent bug but rather a situational one. If i didn't have that massive visual glitch issue id go recreate a save file for you all but as it stands it should be easy to replicate with the steps listed above off any save file you have. simply create a caravan via any merchant (i used the upgraded caravan tho that shouldn't be different if coded correctly) and make a companion who currently holds a role such as scout to lead the caravan then try to select a new scout.

    edit: i see that a patch today has potentially fixed the issue with visuals i will see if i cant go recreate this issue and send you a file to save yall some time.

    i dont believe i have a save file for this unfortunately. if the player selects their scout (and i assume other roles) to become a caravan leader the companion continues to occupy the party role (unsure if the buffs are applied) preventing you from selecting a new companion to that role...
  19. In Progress Highland Noble Bracers Graphical Glitch - e1.5.6

    i havnt seen the masive glitch described here but i did notice in my game that the female version seems to work just fine but the male bracers still have some minor odd distortions.

    i didnt have this issue on 1.5.8 until the last hotfix. not sure if the hotfix fixed it for anyone but it broke it for me.
