  1. King Harlaus > Bannerlord: what is this game missing?

I think a way to summarize my above post about "Kyle" is that someone high up in the dev process decided to make BL into something like an MMO, because MMO's make tons of money - not realizing how that doesn't work in a SP/MP mass combat RPG.

Most of the failures of this game boil down to that: MMO grind + MMO "balancing" + MMO story + MMO AI.

The "balancing" is the most annoying. Spears and shields and swords and polearms should not be "balanced" because they aren't "balanced" IRL. Every medieval weapon had strengths and drawbacks and reasons for being deployed.
We where just talking about this in a discord for another game when some one asked if the new game will have MMO cause MMO's are the only thing that sales now a days. NO they aren't to many games have stop making RPG and such of good quality cause they are just trying to jump in on the quick cash MMO or Survival style games. That Dev Company has a lot of the same issues as TW, actually it's prob 100 times worse, but they learned from making a MMO like game that you can't make every one happy and there next game in that line of game style is going to be SP only with maybe some MP added later but it will be you joining a friends world (co-op) and not a true MMO.
  2. King Harlaus > Bannerlord: what is this game missing?

TaleWorlds is making that painstakingly clear every time theres a new update. This game does not revolve around its playerbase. Interesting choice though.. Most companies would like to develop something their players want to have, since they are the recurring customers.
    no ****

they've made that very clear by ignoring the **** out of us this last year

if it did we might have a good game by now
You also need to understand that the forums of games is prob only visited by less than 10% of the actual player base, so your not speaking for every one and they don't have to listen to the minority few. It is their game after all, but does it help to listen to feed back? Oh hell yah as long as it's in reason and I have seen them add things to patches that was modded in or mention as better improvements over the game. It seems todays biggest ***** with gamers is how long it takes to make any improvements from a small dev team compared to say a AAA studio that has hundreds of employees and even they take forever to do updates.

Take MP for example, I think it's a complete waist of resources and should not been touch until the SP parts of the game was done and mostly released. I prob will never play the MP, but some folks liked that part of the game and I won't talk over and over how bad it was to have added it so early. It's just a waist of time cause they added it and they have split there resources to work on both SP and MP.

Now give me a Co-Op option and me and some of my friends would be totally down for that in the make sandbox. So to say some one didn't want or asked for something just cause you don't want something doens't mean there wasn't some one that wanted it. Maybe one of the devs wanted that one feature in there, it's his game after all.......
  3. ***Community Feedback ROADMAP - What Taleworlds still needs to fix!***

Do you like to invent convenient facts when the reality is inconvenient?
The real number for game development cycle is 3-5 years, if an engine is reused it's more like 2-3 years.
Red Dead Redemption 2 took 8 years
Call of Duty Modern Warfare took 2 years (yep cookie cutter games only take 2-3 years)
    Kingdom Com took 5 years

I can go on with games that took 2-8 years, but are you looking at from when it was announced or when they actually started development? Oh those games how many scraped the projected and started all over with a new engine from scratch? Let them take as long as they want, they aren't a AAA studio, but hay ya'll haters are going to hate as long as you can say something.

Maybe it's time for some of ya'll to come to terms it's not going to be a perfect game like ya'll wants, that it will take the modders to make it such. As stated above it was mods like VC and others that made Warband the game that many of us love and still play. TW is just giving them the framework to work on.

As I stated before the mass majority of the post I been reading is just a bunch of cry babies complaining over and over. No wonder why the devs don't want to give you more feed back cause most of the folks one here just want to *****. If the sky was blue they would ***** it wasn't green.
  4. Next patch

You having 1k hrs in the game doesn't mean anything other than you like it. You sound like a pitiful simp for TW, likely trying to justify (to yourself) all the life you wasted in this lackluster video game.

I'm sorry you like garbage, doesn't mean the rest of us have to.
If you hate the game so much than why are you even here posting? Other than to be a troll and hatefull. You don't seem want to give any feed back other than hating on other players that might actually like and enjoy the game. Did I say the game was perfect? No I didn't and I do agree it has a lot of issues, but I also haven't set my standards so high that I have become a spitfull troll hating on every post that is made like some folks on here seem to enjoy doing.

The OP asked what might be in the next patch, the guy that posted and I commented on was doing nothing but just making a hatefull troll post that has nothing to do with current or future patches.

It's because they don't know week to week if another patch will be ready. The best they can say is "this _____ is fixed an will be in a upcoming patch".
That's what they can confirm, their department readies a fix, they don't control when a update comes. They might know on Thursday that "not patch this week" but we could all ascertain that ourselves.

It's better then setting a "patch date" then withholding updates to artificially meet the schedule, which is a practice used sometimes to keep up the appearance of steady updates and control (but is not actually, just always backlogged updates). I'm glad they don't do this fake ?:poop:.

I have been very critical about not getting a patch note for small patches though. I do feel that the players on beta should know what data we've added to our game.
Do you honestly want them to give a exact date or info to have it not happen and than all the haters will just troll and post even more hate?

I do agree any time a patch or hotfix is added there should be an update for the game in notes for folks to understand what happen. Communication with your player base is key, but the players also have to be reasonable about what to expect in a small dev game being worked on.
  5. King Harlaus > Bannerlord: what is this game missing?

There's no reason to visit a village at the moment, none. Find someone in here who wanted this.
You do know the game doesn't revolved around YOU or any other player that is on the furoms. To say find some one in there who wanted something means your speaking for all players. Maybe there is some one one that wanted this or something else. Does it mean it will get implomented? Prob not, but just cause you think some one doesn't want it doesn't mean some else doesn't want it.

Also this is not your game, if you think or want something than go mod it as you stated before you got 20 years of modding experience, that is what is great about games like this. The modding community is what actually brings the games alive from there original from. The Devs are building a game they want to build, so that is what they will build. Yes they will put some of our feed back into it, but a lot of times they will do what ever THEY want to do.

By the way I would love to test out any of your mods as I do a lot of that and leave feed back when I can.
  6. Were our expectations to high?

Perhaps understand what a good video game company produces after a year in EA, then get out and get your sun. It helps with reality. I have been modding games for 20 years dude, this game is a coding mess with terrible late game options for the player and virtually no immersive qualities. For 20 dollars when the bugs are mostly put to bed? Yeah, for 50 dollars, absolutely no way. Look at the view points of the better experienced mod creators on here, not myself, they will tell you.
I actually only payed 20 bucks cause I owned the other games. As for 50 bucks, you do understand games been costing 40-60 bucks for over 30 years now (when I was a teen it was about 20-40 bucks) so that price is nothing. I spend about that much going out for dinner . SO stop acting like 50 bucks is a lot. As for how long you been involved in modding games, good for you, so I been playing them and involved in testing and mudding many of them for 30 years. I also have over 1K hours in this game alone so I do play it and know what it can and can not do with or without mods.

My point was that a lot of the folks I'm seeing *****ing now a days in games and not just this one are *****ing about little things they seem to have no clue about. Again you alos for got that last year most of the world was shut down so you can't exactly count that as full dev time. Along with the fact we are talking about a small company that has to make the game work completely without bugs or crashes. Modders don't have to do that, they just got to make there mod work only. Just about every crash I have had involving this game was the results of a mod not the game it self.

We used to get people like you every week, now it's every day. What made you come here to fight the complaints?
There's a sizable community here including experienced developers, modders, project managers and people otherwise involved in software development. We follow the development of Bannerlord closely and put together dev statements, leaks, code snippets... everything we can to get a picture of their problems that caused the current state of the game.
You, on the other hand, know next to nothing and try to defend Taleworlds on purely speculative grounds. What's your motivation? Why did you think the complainers are wrong and easy targets for criticism?

Maybe they leave cause folks like you attack them instead of the subject. I been around prob longer than you think as this isn't my first account with them....It's just the one I made when I couldn't remember my older one from warband. I'm actually not trying to defend any one, just stating what I actually have seen and read over the past few days while looking for some info on a question I had. So I made a post, it's a free world folks are allowed to do that after all, not just the old school haters that seem to not move on.

As for reason I made my comments, exactly what I have said by reading some of the folks comments they are just trying to hate for hate purpose and seem to have some false expectations of what they where going to get from the game or devs either from what was originally posted about the development or from some made up expectations they have in mind. It's not just this game, I seen it on a lot of other games too over the years.
  7. ***Community Feedback ROADMAP - What Taleworlds still needs to fix!***

This is an Early Access game, not a Full Release game.

A good Full Release with positive reviews means higher sales. A bad release means that sales will be low and the effort to consolize the game will be marred by bad reviews on the PC version.
The other reason they do EA and once all the bugs are worked out and it's a final release the reviews and all that get wiped and it gets a clean slate. Go look at Naval Action prime example of a game that was in EA for ever and than released (mostly so they could start saleing DLC which you can't do in EA).
  8. ***Community Feedback ROADMAP - What Taleworlds still needs to fix!***

Still like 8-9 years of development for a sequel, not an excuse.
8-9 years is what actual most games take to develop and that is considering they tend to all ready have an engine to run off of. They scratched there original work and started over with a whole new engine so it's honestly not an unrealistic time frame. I think the problem is with games releasing games EA is folks honestly don't know how long it takes to develop games from announcement and it's only on a story board to a finish product. When I beta tested Diablo II it started two years before it was even released (more like a year and half) and they only gave us like a small demo version of the game of what exactly they wanted us to test. When the game came out I was blown away as it pretty much looked like nothing from the stuff we tested. So folks also have to understand that the internal version may be way ahead of what we actually see out here in EA.
  9. Thank you Taleworlds. A unique perspective

Who are you, to speak on behalf of other people...
He was stating his own opinion. I actually been reading over the forums this week and notice a lot of the folks that are *****ing are just *****ing for *****ing sake or actually seem to think finished games happen over night. Specially right after most of the globe was shut down last year. A lot of the modern day gamers seem to complain if you gave them 1000 dollars they would ***** that it wasn't 1001 dollars. They just aren't happy unless they are *****ing.

I have over 1K hours in this game so far and have a lot of fun testing things out, but you k now what I don't do, expect things that aren't there yet to happen over night. I log on every patch play a game with no mods, than I go and play it completely molded up with my fav mods and some new ones and than I go play other games. I have several games in my library that are in EA state of development. Most of us never been in a game development so we don't know what it takes to do so and some times things take longer than is expected. I would prefer them to take there time instead of rushing things out like most of the big AAA studios been doing the last 5-10 years to make time scheduals and holidays sales to only have the game full of bugs and most of the content removed.

As some one that mods his game a lot I have over the time since it went EA actually stop using some mods cause they where implomented into the game. There is a lot of content we haven't seen yet cause they have to get other things to work first to get them to work or it would be even a bigger crashing mess.

Now this part might piss some folks off, a lot of the problems i see in games from players aren't the game it self. Not pointing any fingers but lets be honest, your 5-10 year old system is out dated and your going to have problems playing any modern games. If you still play games on a HDD drive instead of a SDD drive stop complaining about lag and load screen times (yes I have trouble shoot players that had HDD drives only). If you have 8g of RAM you need to update that to 16G to help with applications running, the actual normal for most modern game is 32 not 16. If your graphic card is older than a 980 your prob due to update it. Not saying games wont run on these older system but they are a lot of the issues folks are having trying to run newer games that isn't the games fault.

Also learn to install the right mods and how to remove bad mods, that is pretty much the number one causes of crashes I found with this game and others......

Yes there is a lot of stuff I would like to see added or fixed in the game, but I"m not going to sit here trolling and *****ing about it. Learned a long time ago that most Devs don't care what most players think or say. What they care is the bug reports and data you give back to them to fest fix things.
  10. King Harlaus > Bannerlord: what is this game missing?

"With the massive increase in settlements that we have in Bannerlord, we felt that having to micromanage settlements all the way down to the village level would, over time (as your territory grows), become overbearing and tiresome to manage."

This right here is the killer philosophy, the flat line pulse of this game. They did not listen to any of us, nobody wanted this.
Nobody is a very strong word.

While I would love to be able to own a village only and work up, but we are suppose to be Nobles not common scum. Bannerlord is the game name after all. Why would I want to micro mang a village when I have a head man/shierf to do so? Whcih honestly that part I wouldn't mind being able to higher or appoint who you want to run it like governors. There also should be two types of governors, the Towns and the Castles (more military minded) while the Castle lords are there to protect the land they rule over while the Towns governor is there to deal more with economic backing of the trade of towns/cities.
  11. King Harlaus > Bannerlord: what is this game missing?

    I will just quote myself.
You know if some one actually had an imagination and some self control they can do a lot of that in game. I make a char, with a story behind them and skills to match. Not every one is the instant Lord/Kilng, in fact I rarely become a faction leader unless voted as such (Sturgians I been voted every time as the new replacement). I don't go for total conqorue of the map, I try as a Mercanary the first few tiers to fight for the underdogs. . One big complaint I do have is your kids grow way to fast for the time the game moves on, which is why I use Pacer mod to make it better. I don't try to rule it all before my kids come to age. There are missions/quest in where the ruler just asked me to raid some villages to keep the enemey busy while they attack castles/forts. So things are being added (I don't remember that being in 1.5.9).

I also think a lot of the folks *****ing came a long way after warband started and played much finish and modded games and expect a game in EA to be the same. Hell when I got into Warband it was when VC came out. There is stuff from that DLC I would love to see in Bannerlord so I can play a mercanary only play through (the refuge/outpost).

Since I normally play the game modded (not right now with 1.5.10) I do a lot of adding and removing them. Some of these mods I used a lot have been added into the game. Remember they are putting them into the game to make sure they work, modders don't have to do that. They can just mod the game and than walk off.
  12. Another captain player lost faith in TW

TO be honest they should never had brought in Captain mode until the main sinlge player game was done and released. All it did was get ya'lls hopes up and expectations.
  13. Next patch

The game wont get good in a patch or two so if I were you I would focus on playing something else and wait 6 months and see what has been improved
yeah thats why im still waiting and just checking the forums, best option is some time after release with mods
I have over 1k hours in the game so far, maybe the problem is more you than the game. No your not here just waiting, your here trolling with negative attitude about a game cause it doesn't yet live up to what ever high standards you have for it or believe it should be. Your comment had zero to do with what the OP asked for.
  14. why do i lose influence when losing a castle?

Maybe if you can't defend the castle you shouldn't have taken it. I never take just any castle that is given to me. I wait until the castles and cities are where I can defend them and when I'm powerfull enough. I will turn several down and not have them spread out all over the map too.
  15. Were our expectations to high?

For 8 years of DEV time this game is terrible currently.
I love how folks always think games are developed over night. Maybe cookie cutter games that are made over and over with the same engine and concept (COD style games) they tend to take only a few years to developed cause the resources are all ready there. TW actually had to start over and create a new engine to run the game. Lets not even mention the fact they aren't actually a company that was known for making games, just mainly translating them. So they don't have a long development background other than just one game.

I didn't get my hopes up and expect way more than they promised or showed. They are showing improvements but it's taking time. I notice folks now a day just have no patience. Maybe it's the fact I'm older or something but I got other games to play with to kill time. Many of them are EA games in development. Some will make it some won't.

Go out side, enough the sun, do something other than ***** and complain about every thing. Maybe your life will be more fun.
  16. Why cant I make an army when I'm not in a faction?

I really would like to do a full on Mercenary play through more than just the first two clan tiers and this kills it. Why shouldn't I be able to Army up with my own parties? Instead they get thrown into random armies of guys that tend to do idiot stuff and waste my good troops.

The other thing is would be nice if we can make an Outpost/Refuge (like from VC) as a lower tier clan that doesn't own Castles or Cities yet. That way you have some where to stage some troops and other interactions with your party.
  17. Beta Patch Notes e1.5.10

Also: yay, no more looking like you belong to the enemy because of item drops. Suggested this month ago, glad it was added.
It's not full kit out, just a weapon or think Horse for one faction. I was kinda suprised the Vlad is a two handed sword, maybe one that was Two and one handed but they typicallly are more the sword and shield guys with lances.
  18. main hero s death

Never! If you can fight you must fight, consequences be damned!
Just gotta micro them a bit more, if they get good athletics they can get ahead of the group and picked off easily
Most mine are Cav or Archers, but a few are front line warriors that get to fight with the infrantry. Just make sure you gear them up properly and let them heal up between battles. If they go in all ready wounded they have a higher chance of being killed.
  19. Blacksmith Exploit.

I haven't had an issue with money just from sale of my loot. Not sure where ya'll getting some one to buy those items as most towns hardly have 20-40K. You know you could actually not use cheese mechanics and try playing the game without them. Just llke the guys that brag about winning the maps, by cutting every ones head off.....you should have every faction after you if do nothing but cut heads off.
  20. Leadership - Veterans Respect - no one reason for 150 points

You have to be vassal to make armies. Do that and lead armies constantly and it raises fast enough. Spend inf to add even more parties and you'll get even more skill exp! I just sat around with dozens of parties in my army for months until I ran low on inf to grind up leadership fast so I could backstab the faction.

I do dislike having to be a vassal though. You could do it as a faction leader too BUT at this point the benefit of leadership is much diminished, assuming you did good prep work on starting you kingdom.

The earlier you can begin transforming bandit troops and recruiting high tier prisoners the better! The later(more developed) it just become a 'neat' thing.
This is where I have a big issue with the game. I should be able to make my own armies out of my own companies, you should only need to be a Vassal to call others to it. This is one of the reason I can't do a true Mercenary play a long with the fact you can't own something like a castle to have as a base, so something like the Refuge/outpost you had in VC would work great for a Mercenary.
