With the consideration that this game is in EA, I think I've hit the walls in two of my campaigns.

Later in the game it's a full time job enlisting vassals. In most of the runs where I've gotten to 40k power (3 times) it was all 3 things:
    1. Constant enlisting of vassals
    2. Run around in enemy territory back line with a group of about 500 attacking newly spawned enemy nobles who have 50-100 troops.capture castles and towns. Replenish trooos from prisoners and garrisons of newly captured fiefs.
    3. War with only 1 enemy. Always save influence to attain peace if at war with more than 1enemy.

I'll usually have about 15-20 vassals by end game. My actions in their back lines allows for my vassal led armies to take and keep fiefs while I disrupt their ability to form armies when I pick off their parties 1 by 1.
Thanks for the advice, I've been working on reclaiming my lands by having an all mount skirmisher army (over powered as hell) and just picking off the new spawning lords. Ill run around sieging castles to draw attention while the other vassals do their thing. I found this to work for a while until the vassals defect. I found this play run to be super fun cause now it's me causing chaos instead of always being to reactionary. but yeah, I feel you on the full time job on constantly recruiting vassals as they leave. overall I'm incredibly happy with how this game is taking shape and I'm super excited with how the new leveling up system will play a role in a new playthrough. thanks for all the tips so far guys, I really appreciate it.

yeah, I figured this was the limitation of the game before it goes into the hero passing away and leaving the kingdom down. Makes me really excited about the upcoming updates. and yeah, for some reason, I just cant get myself to off the heads, I really wanted to try to conquer my way through it, and even buy my way to power, but just couldnt have it happen.

With the consideration that this game is in EA, I think I've hit the walls in two of my campaigns.

So I have two saves, One is just an all out brawler with only 2 caravans, 3 other companions with 175+ steward running around with pretty big armies, and the rest in my own party. The other save is a straight up money machine merchant with 3 companions running around with armies, with the rest...

1.4.2 Losing relations with faction when THEY raid your villages

Anyone else notice this? When I'm at war with a faction, they start raiding my little poor villages around my castles and cities, and for some reason, My clan loses relations with their clan after they finish the raid

Resolved Beta 1.4.2 disbanding a heros army, the Hero disappears in Ain Baliq

The work around I found is that you have to create an army for him again and immediately disband it which then he appears in the same city or castle you reside in. Just thought I'd bring this bug up if it hasn't been noted already.

Resolved Game becomes unclickable when trying to convince lords to join my kingdom 1.4.2b

I had the same issue when trying to siege a castle. I couldnt click to lead the assault and eventually an enemy lord approached me and i couldnt engage to attack him either because the window was unclickable

Am I missing something? (with regards to obtaining vassels)

Getting vassals without feifs, and then granting them feifs soon after getting them, has been successful for me.

I got the Legion of the Betrayed to become my vassal for 3k Denars, gave them a castle and they've stuck with me as become an important part of my kingdom.
doesnt recruiting mercenaries as vassels still leave to another kingdom?

Am I missing something? (with regards to obtaining vassels)

I honestly don't think this is broken. In war time they bring their feifs so you're essentially buying those in oracle time they are giving up their feif and should be compensated. If you want someone cheaper find someone with no feif.
i see, i didnt know it took into account the the fiefs they bring in. i must have been lucky bringing people on my first kingdom play through of acquiring nobles who were fiefless. thanks for the tip

Am I missing something? (with regards to obtaining vassels)

The release of the game was the only time i ran my own kingdom. at the time, there were so many updates that required me to restart a game I've decided to just play a vassal til 1.4.1 my concern is how difficult it is to get a vassal. event if i get all the charm point on him him, he'll request...

    Traits can it be raised?

i see... thanks for the heads up everyone

    Traits can it be raised?

so with the update on traits affecting decision outcomes, I've only ever lost my traits whenever I do quests. is there a way to raise them?

    Babies

So this might be completely coincidental, but I realized that my character will have children with his wife if that character appears in towns you visit, like when youre going to set up a workshop. I've done several playthroughs with various factions and sometimes the wife wont appear in town...

Are people still actually complaining about hideouts?

Thankfully, most complaints have fizzled out mostly.

The forest bandit camps could use a small tweak, and it would be mostly fine. Most bandit camps are sufficiently "divided into sectors" to properly separate bandits from each other and prevent mass aggro, but the forest bandit camp is a bit too open, so when the bandit numbers crawl over something like 30, a small misstep would aggro enough forest bandits to actually shatter the shields of your troops holding in shield wall.

A hill or a cliffside in the approximate position of the two middle campfires should do the trick, IMO.
I agree, I do occasionally get a random neck shot from a bandit from a camp i got too close to or forgot to raid in an improper order. And i understand a lot of peoples concerns that have posted here, but I see it like this. in early game, everyone does the arenas to gain xp and gold. at some point, the arena gains slow down as it just gives 3 renown and about 500 to 1k gold. I find bandit camps as a next step to continue the smaller combats that arenas just sending troops to fight bandits as it gets a little repetative. the camps are just a nice change of play style to give my companions and main character time to skill up. and yes, there are times when you aggro'ed too many units and just have to sit there taking arrows or javs til they wilt down where you can start hitting them 1v4. i find it similiar to when youre in an arena and all your allies die and your up against 3 or 4 heavy armored gladiators. so you have to do the ol run away turn and swing for 2 minutes til you hopefully win.
Im hearing everyone saying that using your troops as a shield wall while you arrow them to death is a broken mechanic to win them, then on the flip side im reading how if you are baiting our the arrows with a shield while your troops arrow them to death is a broken mechanic.all a while they need a mod to win it for them. its pretty odd how people need them to win it for them that they find to be the justified answer. the bandit camps can be as hard or as easy as your want them to be. if it has too many camps for you to handle, then you can kill all the surrounding looters and bandits to draw them out, or just strap up your boots and try to take on a bandit camp and figure out a strategy on how to win it with out just immediately saying its broken.

nop no mod 100+ if you play long enough and if you ve checked reddit youtube forums you will find it to be common 3+ years mark
sounds fun to me. imagine the renown you can get if you finish an 8 v 100 and the look stack.

how about when its 1v10 10 vs 100+
ive personally never saw a bandit base more than 40ish. sounds like you have a more bandits mod activated

Are people still actually complaining about hideouts?

without a mod that lets me take my army i cant get into an 170 steppe bandits hideout who can 1-2 hit me with arrows and there is like 70 of them in place and they ve distance/high ground
yes hideouts are broken and mods are a must in late game
    OP is a troll
    i guess eveeryones a critic...

Are people still actually complaining about hideouts?

You dont see this as a problem? Being forced to exploit broken AI to win? I just downloaded a mod that gives more troops to do the hideouts. It fixes the game. You can actually have fun with them rather than the old shoot 1 bandit crouch with largest shield order archers to fire then move on again and again.
I dont see this as a broken mechanic, you approach them with a shield up as they get peppered, and as you get closer, they draw their swords and you cambat them 1v1, 1v2 or sometimes 1v3, which i personally find enjoyable

Are people still actually complaining about hideouts?

You get feathered trying that in forest bandit hideouts and that is where most of the complaints remain.
I totally understand, in every bandit camp, you need a shield. personally i find the sea raiders way harder without a shield cause they can one shot you, with forest bandits, sit in front, tank all the arrows that do no damage to your shield, and have the archers behind you. they literally are in waves of 3 to 5 at each camp fire. not like youre fighting all 20 or more forest bandits at once

Between all the complaints about how Taleworlds will run off with peoples money after an extra 4 days without an update, I scroll though complaint after complaint about how hideouts are broken. When I first came across one, i thought so too, til i found out that by default all the archers are...
