    Are you using mods?

I'm currently only using a few cosmetic mods - Mixed Gender Troops and "Noble Nobles."

Resolved Crash on "Peace Offer by Aserai"

I loaded my game in 1.4.1 and the peace was processed appropriately, and I was able to move on. Thanks!

Uncommon Questions with less Obvious Answers...

    Another question.

I usually don't make trade-oriented characters. But after I did, and made myself a quite successful entrepreneur... just what is it that's causing the town's artisan to gain -1 ~ -2 relations with myself?

Do I offend the artisan in some way?

I think there might be some undocumented (or poorly documented) changes that cause your reputation with people in towns and villages to increase or decrease by small amounts. I think one might be related to war? Like when war started between my Vlandian faction and Western Empire, my rep with all the WE artisans went down, and it stayed that way following the peace?

On the flip side, I've noticed that sometimes my relations with town merchants increases overnight (with a message telling me this, but not the reason why) when I'm sitting in the town doing nothing (except healing) for a few days. Maybe they appreciate my Charming self being there? Or the fact that my soldiers are around spending money in the taverns and brothels and theoretically helping protect the place?

As luck would have it, the scenario I described actually came up. I'm a vassal of Vlandia, at war with Battania, and was hanging out in Western Vlandia trying to recruit some decent troops. Someone had an "Escort Merchant Caravan" mission, and I figured why not, we both pretty much have to be going in the same direction, right?

Turned out this frickin' caravan was going to the ultimate destination of that Sturgian town in the far northeast, so it was an escort mission across the whole damn map. (The payout was quite generous, though, I have to admit.)

Anyhow, as I was diligently chasing away bandits and looters who might threaten the caravan, Caladog pops up right in my path, hanging out with just 14 guys near one of the south-central Imperial cities. I snapped him up easily enough, but I wasn't anywhere near a Vlandian castle or town, and had to stick close to the caravan I was escorting. I had to keep him with my army. But I did, for a much longer time than expected! I took the "northern route" home, through Sturgia, and he didn't escape until we were in Western Sturgia. Not sure how many days it was, but essentially it took the length of a half-circumnavigation of the map before he got away.

    Dual wielding combat

Skallagrim's video shows his character "dual shielding" briefly (around 9:30 or so) but I haven't tried this yet:

What happens when you deposit a lord in an ally's dungeon, versus stashing him in your own? Will the dungeon owner leave him imprisoned until he escapes, or can he/will he just cash him in?

I sometimes wonder, when I have a captured faction leader, what the best thing to do with him is vis-a-vis winning the war, forcing a favorable peace treaty, etc. Should I:

    1. Deposit him in the nearest dungeon available.
    2. Deposit him in my own dungeon, though it might be far away and he might escape en route.
    3. Gift him to my own king?

Resolved Crash on "Peace Offer by Aserai"

For what it's worth, I got the crash again on the new version 1.4.0.

Not sure if this is relevant or not, but it crashed much more quickly and "cleanly" in 1.4.0. On the previous version, the screen froze for 30-40 seconds or so before giving up and doing the "upload crash log?" thing. In 1.4.0, it went straight to that windows dialog box upon clicking Continue.

    Miserable mid-game, new(ish) player perspective

I had that same defector scenario, so it's not some extreme outlier case.

The funny thing is, in my game Rhaegea seems to be granting fiefs in a quite geographically sensible way.

Resolved Crash on "Peace Offer by Aserai"

Summary: Playing "Imperial" on the big quest, as vassal of Southern Empire. The "Peace Offer from Aserai" message appears, apparently prompted by a victory, because there's a message to vote for who gets the conquered settlement as well. Clicking on Continue crashes the game; clicking on...

    Offensive Siege Guide

Excellent guide. I'm starting to try tougher siege targets, and the tips here are very helpful.

One thing I'm fuzzy on: can you tell what the difference is between the "fire" Onager and Ballista versus the regular kinds, as a practical matter?

    Quick Question, Quick Answer

I have a quick question about quick questions. Has anyone ever seen a meaningful interaction from the "I have a quick question" choice when talking to nobles?

    Barber

When I first saw this, I thought it was about a barber for NPCs.

You could have a policy, like Peter the Great's Beard Tax:

    Companion Quantity vs. Roles Available

By the way, what does having a high-level Rogue do for you exactly? The value of the other skills is reasonably clear, but I'm not certain how this guy's Roguery skill is helping me.

Kingdoms dragging in hostile lords to fill depleting clan rosters... A really terrible gameplay mechanic

Another potential option might be releasing a prisoner with an enforceable parole "for the duration" - the noble can't fight against your nation (and maybe vice versa with respect to attacking the noble's holdings?) so long as the current war continues?

You get good relations with the noble and actually take him off the board. For variety, maybe some nobles with positive Honor, or whose forces are too important to the war effort, won't accept parole. And lying curs with negative honor might reneg on the deal (with various negative effects to their relations.)

    Real Tournaments?

Personally I'd just like to see more variety in the final rounds, so it's not always a predictable swordfight. Sometimes have mounted, sometimes running around with javelins, erc.

    Offensive Siege Guide

You have to put them in the reserve to avoid instant destruction.

I think this may be worth underlining in the guide, both to let people know you can and should do this, and because it's somewhat counter-intuitive, especially if you're thinking about historical sieges.

Instead of spending days battering the walls, then assaulting, it seems like in Bannerlords, the main reason for siege engines is to use them DURING the assault.

    Offensive Siege Guide

Have they rebalanced defending siege engines? Last sieges I did, any ballista or onager you built on offense was destroyed by the defender ballistae within about 5 seconds.
