    Battanian women sound like grannies

Mere modders for Skyrim are getting whole new dialogues and voices that perfectly mimic the original characters voice using ElevenLabs https://elevenlabs.io/?utm_source=g...UqZlW9pkfJBBczP2EQG4m8x3miEVDGS0aAs0pEALw_wcB

    "Bannerlord is a good game"...

Answer to OP, this game is actually very enjoyable however because of the long EA period this sub has a large number of permanent lingerers who are rather embittered by TW's slow progress to develop the game, and have subsequently developed a culture of egging each other on about how bad the game is. This is a very common thing on gaming forums.

Myself and all of my friends absolutely love the game, and take it as it is. There's nothing quite like it, and even though it could do with a bit more polish there are hundreds of hours of entertainment to be had, and the experience of commanding hundreds of troops assaulting realistically rendered castles which soldiers actually defend in formations and with siege equipment is frankly amazing. I also rather enjoy the RPG skill tree and how many possible build choices there are.

Factional, troop and item variety is also fantastic, with each faction having a rich backstory and definable playstyle.

The game is not perfect, but it is very good.

Im guessing this is your first at a M&B game?

    "Bannerlord is a good game"...

Bannerlord is a good game with Bannerkings and several other mods that add depth and make it interesting.

Not really as its not properly calibrated. Im running around with a 150 sized party while all the lords are running around with 20-40... and there are zero Wars happening leaving a largely lifeless world. I have to find mods to correct the mods. This is the crux of the problems of "relying on mods to give you a calibrated game". -they have no such obligation as they do it as a hobby as they see fit.

    about the block in combat

But block a heavy cavalry's charge with a knife?

Yeah I noticed this early on too. On one level I was glad that potentially anyone can be lethal (which is true in reality) but at the very least for gameplay balancing -it should pretty rare if ever. Honestly ive mixed feelings on the AI ,on one hand they are very robust on quick type reactions as well as independent in terms of grabbing a free horse or weapon off the ground with no delay. Hell Arma bots cant pick up anything -ever -and thats with like 10 menu command menus to go thru in vain.

As far as your example, I do wish the AI had the ability to pull off sidestep type moves like from a charging horse, as well as having some sort of control over their own speed like moving low, sprinting etc... AI's tough to get right but overall i do like this games battle mechanics. Strategy campaign AI on the other hand.....

    Patch Notes v1.1.6

I wouldn't compare TW to EA, I'd argue taleworlds are much slower Devs than EA considering bannerlord took like 9 years of development to actually release and is still an unfinished, bug filled mess while EA pump out like 12 different sport games every year
Early Access not Electronic Arts my man
  7. froggyluv

    Patch Notes v1.1.6

They've denied it previously, but I stand by my assertion that the vast majority of Devs were shifted on to another project and only a skeleton crew remains to 'finish' Bannerlord.

This is the new 'Norm' of EA games. First, tease the audince with "potential game" dev blogs and trailers. Next release the EA at premium price and hold off complainers with "take it easy..its still in EA", now in Offcial release after solid sales, "dont worry, we're still working on this game..be patient", now dealing with both an apathatic casual crowd who have moved on and an infuriated diehard fanbase "sorry, we are now in maintenance skeleton crew mode...maybe the DLC or next game will fulfill proposed feature X,Y,Z"

    about the block in combat

I think it would make high skill lords really stand out in the wars and since they always start out in the battles making them more skilled would make it a bit more likely that they could survive until the end of a long battle.

Funny enough this is somethinhg that Taleworlds had always managed to get right. Even back in M&B 1 you could literally feel the skill difference between the skill levels.

    about the block in combat

Well, one possible remedy for single-player only is for units (including the player) to take some of the damage if they're blocking a swinging polearm or 2-handed weapon slash with a one-handed weapon (not shield) but they won't get staggered due to the damage. I'm not sure what the appropriate percentage of damage that is blocked/passes through the block would be though.

Isnt that kinda what RMB does (Posture Break) to a degree or am I misunderstanding this?

    Patch Notes v1.1.6

    Patch Notes x1.1.6b:

    - Rocks and Pebbles are now larger and more menacing
    - Barbers now offer 'toofers' so you and 1 (unchoosable) Party mate can get haircuts for the price of 1

    - Plastic Cups were added to bar scenes for both variety and being more environmentally friendly

    Endgame = mindless endless war

Well that depends on the nature of your story doesn't it. Edward Rutherfurd might tell you a story that spans 10,000 years. Isaac Asimov might tell you a story that spans 50,000 years or more. In that context, a hundred years or so in this game is nothing.

And yes, there are in fact novels, movies etc out there that end unsatisfactorily with the lead characters accepting the normalcy of their existence, knowing that their future will just be more of the same. It is a common cynical trope amongst indie films and novels.

So to an extent, your suggestion that books and stories provide the ideal narrative example for this game, is in fact flawed - as there are examples that directly contradict the idea that a classic 'end' is important, or even desired.

Perhaps the lesson of Bannerlord, is in fact a meditation on the futility of human violence, that it begets more violence. and more. and more. without end.

Your argument just wanders into the obtuse landscape of "everything is everything....so why bother..?"-type exposition. Regardless of any of your examples timescales whether they be one conflict event in a moment of time, or a drawn out conflict event happening over thousands of years -even if the final outcome is in a sense ambiguous, the one thing I can promise you is that many, many stipulations and diverse dynamics went alongside those events. Meaning - wars dont just happen, meaninglessly and dissipate without many mechanizations having been involved at multiple levels be it politically, personal animosities, strategic, financial, religious, socially ect..

Why would you applaud an effort to basically just have game with a "sprinkling of strategy" in which none of it really matters -its just about mindless play until you paint the map. This is poor game design in the genre.

    Pathetic Campaign Map AI (v1.2.3)

Really? You think that? There has never, ever been a time in history when a commander made a mistake and started a battle he shouldn't have? There has never been a time when someone decided to take a risk and go for a pitched battle they were slightly weaker for? You think there's literally no reason, huh? That never ever happened before in history? Wow.

Alot of these kinda posts been showing up here lately. The old "well sh*t goes crazy in Real Life so why should the game be expected to have any real functioning dynamics - as sh*t just goes crazy..." ad nauseum. A willful ignorance of murderously flawed logic.

    Endgame = mindless endless war

To be fair... this is a lot like the real world.

I mean, what is like playing late game Earth IRL? So many fires to put out. Endless wars popping up...

This is'nt a valid comparison. hell, why should Movies, Books and Heroic Odyssies ever have an ending as life continues to go on, right? And most of those have interesting dynamics that create different sorts of interesting resolutions.

    Pathetic Campaign Map AI (v1.2.3)

It would help if they tied the AI's thinking as a narrative to the goings on of the map. Actually I retract that -it would be maddening.

"Baldur’s Gate 3 is Causing Some Developers to Panic"

Nonsense like that is causing some developers to laugh.

Now what? Look, someone pointed out the obvious and thus must be true. Only a non-developer would believe that a game being made and released is going to effect another developer in such a way. Its just clickbait and fake outrage. The game could sell 100x more copies than it has and it will change a grand total of nothing in the industry. Players will keep pre-ordering games at the same rate from the same companies. They will keep buying lootboxes. They will keep buying games with microtransactions and keep buying the microtransactions they sell. They will keep buying games that openly state they are going to base their income off of overpriced DLCs and will keep paying for those overpriced DLCs. They will buy the next game from the last company that released an unfinished, buggy game they raged about.

Nothing is going to change, because consumers are not going to change. If you do not know who I am talking about. I mean you. Especially those of you that watch clickbait fake outrage videos. You are raging against things you will actually do NOTHING to change in your own consuming choices which feeds the thing you PRETEND you hate so much. You are basically a self-harmer and love it. Now then, hop onto reddit and post about how much you despise Nvidia and their business practices before you go research the next Nvidia card you are going to buy soon...or post about how much you hate Disney and how they are ruining your favorite IP while you watch Disney+ and that same IPs new show you are posting about hating so much...🤡s

That was the biggest anti-rant rant Ive ever had the pleasure of witnessing

"Baldur’s Gate 3 is Causing Some Developers to Panic"

Its hard to know whom to believe anymore with gamers and their hype/rant -I swear Starfield is either "the best Bethseda thing since an arrow to the knee" or its "Woke madness loading screen garbage". Thats why I almost never buy games on release anymore -gives time for reasonable opinions to rise up among the toxic sludge

Roadmap? Features in the future? Anything?

No answer from Dejan here, I see. He asks and he disappears.

Got a Cease and Desist/Dont Rouse the Rabble - order from above
  18. froggyluv

Roadmap? Features in the future? Anything?

Is it possible that they've run into a brick wall as far as adding/implementing above plans because of console specs? If that is the case then then that means the PC community subsidized an inferior product but still payed premium price

    Is end-game more fun now?

No actual endgame at all: You paint the map? Hurray, now nothing special happens and nothing will ever happen.
Man they couldnt even muster up a little 1980's circa textbox "Game Complete." with a credits roll and a song?
  20. froggyluv

Dear developers the engine looks outdated.

Wait for Bannerlord: Remounted with prettier graphics to pay twice!

Screwed you once , shame on them. Screw (mount) you twice..shame on You !!

As to the OP I think the game looks visually good to sometimes even stunning considering the amount of troops being calculated and with the right reshade going on. Bigger shame is the lack of reason to EVER go into a city to witness them as its just utterly boring to go wandering for no reason at all. Only time I see a city is in a Siege. The combat animations tho are outstanding imo
