    Beta Patch Notes v1.2.0-v1.2.4

Why are you guys getting excited about 1.2.4? Do you expect some sort of a break from the cycle of 100 fixed bugs and 102 new bugs?

    Beta Patch Notes v1.2.0-v1.2.4

are you trying to say that the release of the game wasn't rushed?

I would not use the word "rushed". I would say that it has been "mismanaged". This has led to:
    - Protracted initial development time.
    - Uninspired and slow feature development and bug fixes.
    - Poorly-thought-out, half-baked feature implementations.
    - Sketchy roadmap.
    - Poor source management. ("fixed" bugs later reintroduced)
    - Horrible communication.

It's a real shame because, while M&B was quite janky, it has become a beloved franchise due to its niche design and ability to rise above some of its flaws through mods; Bannerlord could have been and absolute masterpiece. They had the support of a dedicated fanbase and a proven set of concepts to use as a foundation for something truly special.

I would not say that it has been an abysmal failure, but it's C- work. A real disappointment. Certainly my faith in them has been damaged and anything they produce in the future will be suspect, certainly nothing will be a day 1 purchase.

    Beta Patch Notes v1.2.0-v1.2.4

i dont think that you can transfer the "standard" company pressure to a game studio. games/software development needs time, testing and a lot of workforce, especially within ai-driven sandbox titles like bannerlord. pressure isn't always helpful. look at all the rushed games: cyberpunk, vampire bloodlines, no mans sky, and of course bannerlord. they all fell off not just because of internal factors but also because of community demands of release.
in case of bannerlord you can clearly see a rushed structure throughout the recent patches, with barely any patch being released with complete functional notes. remember the release version of the game? troops where spawning in front of the walls of sieges, compared to 1.9.0 voice acting has been added and afterwards the early access cycle of beta patches continued - because it is needed. now how are community demands of releases are helpful there? the release version was barely making any difference to early access. a hoax. what iam trying to say is that pressure can turn into bad as soon as you have the feel of release pressure of no matter what.

now look at the big player devs like rockstar, nintendo, valve. do you think they ever gave a damn about outside pressure and respond to anyone? they release when it's ready (to be fair - because they can) and it's their mentality since day 1. they dont spill any beans until its worth it.

in the end it's managers responsibility

iam totally with you there, but sadly the internet isnt working like that. in the past community managers said several times that things do need more time and things are released as soon as possible. its not like taleworlds hasnt done this several times especially here in the forum. guess who didnt cared about the answer and continued with release demands? guess who was turning that response into criticism #soon ? guess who is still saying there is a lack of communication? the community. so you better say nothing if you have nothing to say.

dont get me wrong i dont want to say that the community is responsible for the condition of bannerlord.
i just try to explain possible reasons for lacking communication and that the real problem is simply somewhere else. the problem is the game quality. if the quality of the game would be good you wouldnt need to communicate in the first place.

A decade of development is rushed?

"Baldur’s Gate 3 is Causing Some Developers to Panic"

Larian had a well-conceived plan and they executed to the plan. TW has a solid core concept, buried under pile of half-baked, dissonant concepts, slowly and half-assedly implemented to a vague, incoherent plan.

    Patch Notes v1.1.4

Do we need them to keep tell us they are working on a patch daily?

    Did someone say that?

    Patch Notes v1.1.4

I think my analogy was perfect, you don't paint a rusted car, fix the rust first. Fix the bugs before introducing new mechanics or you can make things worse. And the longer you wait, the worse the rust gets, the longer they take the fewer players they have. Not the perfect way to know but check the steam numbers, getting near all time lows. They were in the 40's for player base, now they are dropping near #70. And with the continued silence from them, it makes the player base feel they just don't care. A lot of this is open to interpretation but that is what I feel

I think they have made the vast majority of the money they will make off of Bannerlord and they're facing diminishing returns in their ROI of effort.

    Patch Notes v1.1.4

It's a car with tricycle tires, lawn chairs for seats, decent radio, plexiglass windows you can't roll down, v8 engine with only 4 plug wires, and a charging port that doesn't do anything since it runs on french fry oil. Sweet paint job though.

    Patch Notes v1.1.4

Everywhere you look, the game is shallow, and many of the beloved features from Warband are either not present or are implemented so halfassedly that they should be counted as missing. In addition, there are countless bugs and just non-sensical implementations.

    It's such a disappointment.

There's a rumor that a big update is coming.

Deleted the game and will not come back until at least something changes

    *a rock can’t kill me.
    *or a pickaxe!
    *that’s just not fair!
Rocks were a weapon of war for thousands of years hucked and hucked via slings and picks were a superb weapon against armour. This is all historically accurate.
    >my legs should be invulnerable because they are only legs.
Yeah nobody needs legs, right? That’s why tanks have a little hatch that the crews dangle their legs out of. In the Flintstones.
    Heard of Achilles?
I started a new character last night in sandbox, first time he ever travelled with only 1 sturgeon recruit as backup we were attacked by 10 bottom tier rock throwing bandits, my recruit died instantly hacked to ribbons by the mob of utter scum but my guy killed all 10 baddies from the back of a cheap mount with the pitchfork i’d just bought and with the small bow that the setup arms you with. The final one took out my horse just before i rolled and deflected his next blow and skewered him. It was freakin’ sweet to get such a cozy battle victory with a fresh character. Nicely balanced, if i had made any mistake my guy would have died as you’d expect in a 1vs10 fight IRL.
Your problem sounds like a lack of forethought, planning and ability. It’s not a development issue in my opinion.

Hot take from the mouth breather.

I am sure they can squeeze in a little patch. Sheep texture could use an update

Woah, let's not get carried away.

    Patch Notes v1.1.3

I'm not buying **** from TW after this clown show. So, in 12 years, when they release their ****ty space game, it won't be on my wishlist.

    Patch Notes v1.1.2

Is this game dead? Updates and devs have been radio silent for several weeks.

As far as I am concerned, it is. I have no confidence it will ever be a properly polished product. They had the support of the fans and the opportunity to create a legendary game. Instead, they very slowly put out C- work.

It's a mess. A prime example of lipstick on a pig at this point. I don't blame the devs; I blame poor leadership.

    Beta Patch Notes v1.1.0

Sounds like the game is actually getting worse.

    Beta Patch Notes v1.1.0

My hunch is that most all of these systems are Works in Progress and there are bigger long term plans for all of them.

Except, of course, most of the systems and features in the game have been introduced as poorly thought-out, half-assed placeholders and they just remain there. See Companions, Workshops, Courting, Relationships, Traits, Caravans, the campaign storyline, prisoner rescues, order of battle, Castles, Crime, Policies...

    Beta Patch Notes v1.1.0

Is there more planned with the alleys? I mean it´s a nice feature but somehow very shallow if I´m not missing anything:

    - you have a fight and take over
    - you get some denars (75-130 denars for me, was still raising slowly) and can recruit some bandits (0-3 for me)
    - you get some criminal rating which can be totally ignored
    - you get some easy fights every now and then to defend your alley to keep it
    - easy way to level roquery for companions

    The end!

I mean, it does add something, but that´s really not that much overall or is there more stuff we can do with the alleys we control?

What about an option to tell our thugs that they should decrease security/loyalty in the town? Stuff like this?

But overall, the update is good if the bugs will be fixed. And for me it was very stable, I played with one mod (persistance color changer for the banner) and had not a single crash in about 10-12 hours.

It's half-assed like every other feature in the game.

    Patch Notes v1.0.3

The thing is the boss is also incompetent, coders cant be good managers, and thats what TW has as a boss.

I agree with your point that this ****show has always been fundamentally a leadership problem but I wouldn't say that coders can't be good managers.
