Stance Swing Speed Comparison

Great information, Seems very difficult to keep track of such things for first-person players tho. Also very... awkward to handle. Not sure if I like it.

Army Troop quality Indicator

An option under the army description on the campaign map would be very beneficial. Currently, the only way to figure out how elite an army is is by going into details (alt) and reading through their massive army list. This is rather tedious and only useful if you know all the unit names and...

Trade Price Coloration

In-game trade goods are color-coded for their price, indicated a low (green), average (yellow), or high (red) price. It would be greatly beneficial if those colors showed up in the main trade screen, so players can quickly glance at the wares and get a rough idea of pricing there. As it...

New game - milita won't stop following me

srulz 说:
Well, to be fair to him, the person above him said to "talk only with the king" (you can talk to any lords), and also recommended cheats.

You don't need cheats by the way! Just crawl (little by little) to a town/castle, use "wait here for some time" and waits until the militia goes away. -Then- you can find a lord.

If he is in a similar situation to when this happened to me, no he cannot crawl little by little to a town/castle as you literally do not move before they talk to you. You go to world map, click to move, boom new interaction without movement. Stuck for all eternity.

What to hunt after vaskerry raiders?

Usually after you outgrow the regional foe (mystmountain bandits, raiders, snake parties) It's usually time for you to either take on smaller jatu patrols (~40-90), roaming knight companies (~20-50), or start taking on caravans and lords.

After the beginning 'phase' of just getting a foothold you usually need to change you army composition to cater to the enemy you want to face. There is a great section in the PoP manual that goes over army comps at different stages in the game. In the most simple terms cav dominate small forces, archers dominate medium sized forces, and larger forces are more balanced. With obvious differences depending on what you are fighting.

When I was asked to choose my culture I picked the wrong one.  Is there any way to change this or am I screwed?
Well, put your faction under other faction's protection and become a vassal. Then you can leave and start your own kingdom again.

Actually this happened to me in a previous playthrough and when you re-create your kingdom you do not get the option to pick your culture again.

Unique Troops

You silly people, Hrothgar the fat AND Sigimus Stonehand have  Vanskerry Jarls as a special unit. I've seen it in game, and the link provided in this thread also shows a list of lords with their special units.

Yo quick question, I just started my kingdom and choose the pendor culture for my kingdom, but when I go to recruit my men all of the villages still have their original factions units. Conquered fierds villages still have feirds recrits, and same with sarleon and raven.

I thought by choosing the Pendor culture it would change most of the recruits to the pendorian troop tree?

Or perhaps without any form of troop not from your chosen culture (must be chosen at beginning of game) that would mean no mercenaries and no lords from a different culture (so pretty much only one cultures lords). It would be like waging a civil war among your pairs for the title of king, then leading your reborn kingdom to continental occupation (Pendor is a continent right?).

 I do this in all of my playthroughs, Pure factions only! RAWR!

Notice they are also very expensive to hire, the same as Hero Adventurers, 131 per week.

Your Hero Adventurers are 131 per week? Mine are 227 per week (7 leadership). Why are mine so much more expensive?

EDIT: nm, i notice the post is like a year old... Why is this thread so high in the list then?

Quick question, I read mention of the shield skill being broken (applying the shield bonus to all shields in game, not just yours) on the PoP wiki and somewhere else. I know that these sources can sometimes be out of date and was wondering if it was in fact broken in the current version?

Mettenheim Style Rules

Player Character
2 Handed Weapons, Polearms and 1 Handed Weapons permitted. Throwing or Crossbow can be secondary weapon choice. A 2 handed sword should be your weapon of choice.
No riding skill allowed
No horse allowed (you may however have horses in the inventory as pack animals, they increase party movement speed)
No Archery or Power Draw permitted.
You must have a mustache.

Party
Any companions (Frederick required)
Companions must have the same restrictions as your own character. Archery / Power Draw is allowed for them though.
Any troops

Factions
Empire or Fierdsvain preferred, but you can use any.
You should try to acquire as many Mettenheim troops as you can, both released prisoners and mercenaries.
You should try to become friendly with the Mettenheim Expeditionaries as soon as possible.

Additional Rules
You MUST dismount your entire force at the start of EVERY battle. You are allowed to use Knights and the like, but only if you dismount them!

Good luck!

Tips;
Athletics - This skill is vital for foot soldier builds. Trust me.
Path Finding - Another vital skill, you simply wont catch many people on the world map without it. Your movement will be your biggest enemy so make every maneuver count.
Weight - Be careful what you use, a shield on the back might be useful, but movement speed will be restricted. Is it a good trade off?
Horsemen - Try to focus on proper infantry troops rather than their mounted counter parts. Mounted troops tend to have lower skills than their infantry friends.
Tactical Ability - Using tactics on the battle field is vital, you will get stomped otherwise. Try fighting defensively.
Tags - Re-tag all your cavalry troops as either Infantry / Archers to make deployment easier. It might be useful to create a 3rd tag for "2 handers" which is berserkers, halbardiers, gladiators etc, they can then hide behind a shield wall.
STAND CLOSER - Do not be afraid to use this. Properly deployed you will love fighting cavalry armies. The Jatu will become a cash cow.

I am actually playing a halftime Mettenheim style playthrough atm and am already planning a pure Mettenheim playthrough for next time. Almost identical to your ruleset, no cav, no riding during battle (I wanna look pretty on the map, plus the speed is nice), throwing weps only for ranged. It's gonna be sweet. Empire is most def the best faction for this style but my current playthrough is with empire, so I may end up choosing Feirds, purely for something different.

Sieges

While I agree that the sieges need work, and adding more entry points may help, but one thing I think needs to be changed for sure is some of the terrain placement in the siege layouts.

I notice in some sieges there are spike walls that surround the walls, now while these look cool, half of the attacking force spawns ontop of them, around them, and inside them. Those that spawn in them are eternally stuck, those that spawn behind them can hardly get past them, also becoming stuck.

This is shown below in one of my sieges of Marleons I think-
mb_warband2011-10-1803-53-21-02.jpg

Not only am I stuck in the spikes, 80% of my army can't get through the spikes either, thus resulting in a 40 minute battle. And this happens every time I siege/defend settlements like this.

Those spikes are the devil!

you can have both is you go with empire culture.  you can still build koteg chapter and you will get a few every couple of weeks.  not a fast source but just upgrade them heavily and they rarely die anyway.

Can I build multiples of a single chapter? And if you can would they flock to each chapter, increasing the amount I would get per spawn?

[LEGACY] Quick Questions // Quick Answers

Hey In my current game I am getting pretty close to branching off into my own kingdom and wanted some input from some of you guys on this situation.

I generally want to have my force comprised of Empire units but I also want access to the Knights of the Ebon Gauntlet, but in order to do this I would need to make my kingdom follow the pendor culture so I could train up pendor foot knights. My questions is do you think it is feasible to keep an empire army purely from recruiting from the remaining empire villages that are not part of my kingdom, or should I just pick the Empire culture for my kingdom and live without the KotEG?

The way of the foot commander
I only play on foot

I personally use medium armor on foot such as chain ect to move fast and have some protection. Go for about 15-20 in weight for torso and about 5 in weight everything else.
Thank you, it is nice to see someone else who shared my love of foot combat! I had similar views on the armor, but wasn't sure because of my lack of experience; your input is much appreciated.
It's better to remap "Backspace" to "E" or to additional mouse button.
This is good advice for everyone!
