Poll to bring attention on dialect

definition of a theory according to the dictionary: a formal statement of the rules on which a subject of study is based or of ideas that are suggested to explain a fact or event or, more generally, an opinion or explanation
as such religion can be classified as a theory.
i know that in science the word theory has a slightly different meaning but in the common language it is still accepted as a theory, outside the world of science a lot of theories have no proof to back it up. (cookies keep dissapearing from the cookie jar, it is my theory that my son took them, it is the only thing that makes sense to me even if i have no proof for it).

but to get back on topic, i think mostpeople agree this topic should be closed.

Does MP work in the Beta Branch?

Can you quote a recent game that survived a lackluster launch?
a lot of indy games and early acces games, there are actually to many to name. so do not give up hope just yet

    What happened to my Nords?

bannerlord is set before warband, the norse are not here yet.
either they arrived later or one of the cultures evolved into the norse as we know them of warband.

Poll to bring attention on dialect

reported for making yet another unrelated topic in the forum, please stop this madness so we can discuss the game and not ideologies, theories or faiths (which are basicly the same things, a faith is not proven thus also a theory)

    Evolution is wrong,Development is right

Oh, it's very on topic as OP presented his issue with evolution being used instead of development followed by a long rant about religious nonsense.
that was what it started out as, it has Evolved into something else.
  6. High chief Kieran

    Evolution is wrong,Development is right

OP does not really care about anything except pushing his own religious agenda it seems, all of this is based on the christian religion, not caring at all about the creation stories of other religions.
also a lot of other people are saying this is wrong, personally i agree with them but there is no reason to mock someone for their beliefs.

can we all read the forum rules (number 1.1 and 1.6 in particular)
now can we please move this to the off-topic (this has become a religious vs science debate and has nothing to do with bannerlord)

    Let's talk about Sturgia

i have seen sturgia steamroll a few times.
also i have done a few playtroughs in which i recruited only sturgian troops, it worked very well indeed, all you need to remember is to set them to shieldwall untill the lines clash, than tell them to spread out and than order them to attack (shieldwall is broken and units deal little damage in a shieldwall at the moment).
the Ulfhednar could use a buff but they still preform very well, just use them as flankers.
the archers are oke, they do their job, nothing special, and they function as they should.
cavalry works oke, again nothing special but to be honest with sturgia you should stick to infantry anyway.

the problem for sturgia is that the ai does not know how to handle shielded units. they should have their shields raised untill battle starts, than spread out a little bit than attack or the attack animation get blocked and the attack fails.
sturgia itself is balanced fine, it is the ai that needs work.

things that can be fixed (and really need to be)

u guys really arent getting wat im saying. companion skills are actually BROKEN right now. you need to look yourself instead of just automatically thinking other people are wrong without doing research. ill provide a picture as evidence. i never said we should be able to respec on the fly btw, i said i wanted a 1 time respec when we first got them, and only for the lords (meaning spouse). and only within the focus points spent in each attribute as a POSSIBLE fix for this debacle of a stat-line that you will see below:

for all your "logic" you didnt even bother to look into this before u typed anything. i dont care that im recruiting a "person" if that "person" doesnt make sense within their given role. this IS a problem with the game because this "person" shouldnt even have half of these skills and is literally incapable of leveling properly as a result of the way they were spent. im 100% certain that the devs will eventually re balance this, i just want it to be sooner than later. or i want the ability to fix it myself.
I did look at this before i typed, the main thing you have to realize is that there is a difference between knowledge and intelligence, a person can study a lot and learn about a subject without being very intelligent, such as learning how to manage an army (steward skill) while an intelligent person could have been forced due to events to not persue the fields he or she is interested in and be forced to pick up a sword and fight for his life, therefor not getting the maximum out of his natural talents. while i agree that the number of npc's that have this a bit disproportionate, it happened in real real life a lot more than you think. today we have a sociaty in which people can mostly walk the path they chose, in the past this was seldom the case, people had to do what was expected of them. in the time nobles ruled the world they did not care that much about a persons skills but more if his presiege/background was good enough to have such a job.

sorry to ruin your immersion, but she is an NPC, not a PERSON
if this is the argument we are going with than lets all stop playing an rpg's altogether.

i also like that u guys didnt even try to agree with anything i said and only found fault with 1-2 things that you obviously didnt even think about properly. why not try to support some of the changes u agree with instead of being only negative? i can play the negative game too but its not any fun for me.
obviously i did think about them propperly otherwise i would have said: i do not agree and left it at that, i came with arguments, if i would not have thought about them than i would not have posted arguments. i also did not really want to add more arguments to things i did not know enough about or which were already discussed to death of the forum.
Obviously you cannot handle people not agreeing with you on these topics otherwise you would not have talked to us in such harsh words and simply said you did not agree with our assesment. now can we try to keep this civil?

i do not use horse archers very often nor do i smith very much so i have nothing to add on these points, unlike what you assume i do think about what i type, which is why i do not type about things i do not know enough about.

the AI fails to properly utilize noble troop trees: the current state of the ai has already been discussed to death, no reason to do it again in this topic.

make the marriage system either more transparent or more forgiving: works fine for me, in all my playtroughs i have been able to get married.

archers start out so close behind melee units that they often cant even shoot: You command your troops, command the archers to stand somewhere else. this is not a hack and slash simulator, this is a game in which you command armies. set them up in formations. this is the biggest non-point on the list.

one of each hero needs to become available at the start of the game as opposed to several of the same hero in some cases.: agreed but this is just a bug i am assuming, this is ea they will fix it in time, right now they have more pressing concers which i would like them to fix first, such as the ai.

things that can be fixed (and really need to be)

heroes in general are a complete pain in the ass to level, this is actually oppressive as hell and has something to do with how their focus points are spent if im not mistaken. for instance, the lord abagai (waifu) has 5 focus points in 1 handed for some god forsaken reason, but only a couple in polearm. give players the ability to reassign focus points (ONLY WITHIN THEIR SPECIFIC ATTRIBUTE) at the time of recruitment perhaps?
No, you recruit people in this game, not robots, if a human being has trained his entire life in something you cannot just tell them to unlearn things and than magicly learn other skills. if someone focusses on healing it does not mean they would also be a good engineer, even if both require intelligence.

mercenaries should leave factions that are horribly losing a war much more often. having 20-30 lords sitting inside of the northern empires final settlement got a little old fast, as attacking a 1200 strong garrison is somewhat questionable. i ended up having to starve them out and they bum rushed me at the same time after having a massive civil war in front of the city gates while i was waiting for them.
Mercenaries can earn a lot more money with factions that are losing, besides mercs that do not honor their contract will never be hired again. not to mention that this will bring back the dreaded snowballing even more, at this moment they should focus on slowing empires spiraling out of controll, not making it worse.
also there is a difference between lords and mercs, there is nothing wrong with lords remaining loyal to the end, what empire would take in a noble family and give them land if they abandoned their own king in his greatest hour of need. it is part of the honor code which seperated the regular warriors from the honorable ones.

Caravans should be safe income source or not?

i am in favor of making it more risky, if there was no risk in the caravan business than why send guards with it in the first place.
a lot of powerfull merchants in history send ships and caravans over the world to trade, they could lose their ships to storms, caravans to bandits etc.

i know randomness is not always the nicest thing to experience in gameplay but it is realistic that sometimes things happen that are out of your controll. in M&B we are rp humans, not gods, we should not be able to controll everything. having some random events does add to this experience.

IF you are going to change anything besides making it more risky than maybe add in the option to send more guards with the caravan so they have better protection. that way players can chose, have a higher profit with more risk (low amount of guards) or a lower profit with less risk (sending more guards will give more protection but cost you more in upkeep after all)

No lordly armors, in any place. Neither in looting, nor in the store.

Isn't this one of the more important skills for the player to try and raise though? I thought it impacts the tax you get from your fiefs.... or do your assigned governors do that?
it still gets raised when you have a quartermaster set, just make sure you carry like 5-6 types of food and it raises the skill for both you and the quartermaster. not sure if this is a bug or not but it works. (to me it makes sense, even in real life a quartermaster would report to me what he would do and i would learn from him).

Honestly I don't assign clan roles at all because all that it seems that they do is steal XP from the player. Yeah, the player might suck at a skill, but better I get XP than a companion get it, because the party leader is the only useful person.
you could at least set a quartermaster, the quartermaster increases the max army size (make sure they have a high steward skill).

Move Sargot(h) back where it should be, and give it to Sturgia

they can leave it as it is as far as i care, they have bigger issues to fix. still i can see why others want to see it changed.
i am just pretending that sargot from bannerlord got sacked and razed and the population displaced, forming a new city in the north naming it sargoth, after their beloved lost city (the city we see in warband).

How can I incraease Kindgdom support?

not sure this works, i have not really paid attention to this.
i am guessing that giving lords fiefs and making policies will increase it.
there are policies which give the king influence per day while decreasing the individual lords influence per day, i am assuming these would decrease support, try to make policies the lords like and see if it increases, like i said i have not paid attention to this yet so i have no idea if this works but ill try it out now aswell. remember that this is still ea so it might just not be working at the moment.

    Struge. GREAT BALANCE!!!

even if the warriors fight each other as equals, it does not mean that they are equal. If they are easily killed by archers because of their weak armor, they will be less valuable
this is an ai problem, they would just need to raise their shields and they would be fine

How are you guys making money?

early game- going from north to south and back again while playing tablut and bagchal, taking as much goods as i can carry and selling them once i reach my destination.
    mid game - workshops, caravans
late game - workshops, caravans, battles, ransoms, selling loot

Does MP work in the Beta Branch?

Here is what I'm guessing will happen :

Single player will die off (like all single player games do) after 2-3 months, their income will practically halt and they will have to sell at 75% off by next christmas. They will start realising that they do need the sale from the MP community, they will release a half assed "MP Centered" DLC for 20$ bucks that is basically a glorified fan mod and only then will we have community servers and modding support online.
well warband sp did not die off after 2-3 months, so not all singleplayer games are like that, in fact i know more people that are still playing the sp than the mp of warband even today (some with mods, some playing native).

That's exactly the argument. They sold the game without the selling point. I have no doubt it will get better and the 25 players still playing will enjoy it a lot when we get mod support for multiplayer. But it will be too late to have an actual revigorated community. The average player is never going back to a game he had a terrible time with online, and right now, they all have a terrible time.
mods are already being developed, bigger mods take a lot of time, and most will not start production untill EA is over. the first mount and blade was the same, or do you think it had huge mods in the first 4 months after it got released? it was not to late to get the community back together and it is not for bannerlord. there are two kinds of players, those that enjoy singleplayer and those that enjoy multiplayer.

you are making a lot of assumptions about what the average player wants.

as someone who enjoyed the mass effect series and played all those games multiple times i can tell you now, the mp part is not needed to enjoy a game. in mass effect 3 they had mp, it sucked, i (and many others) still played the singleplayer multiple times, and that was a game with low replayability, warband had a huge replayability factor, i can already see the potential for bannerlord to have the same. just because you cannot enjoy games without a good mp it does not mean that no one can.

last but not least, i am having a great time with the captain mode. so again assuming that everyone has a bad time on mp is a huge mistake.

2h units are useless unless archers get nerfed

This thread really has gone on too long lol.
    agreed

2h units are useless unless archers get nerfed

I've never seen the armor before but I have seen the yew longbow.
Best bow i found in game cost me like 200k or somthing. Think it was Noble Long Bow, 92 damage, and then with arrows +3 damage on a archer with 135-150 ish skill I could 1 shot most infantry in chest shots, heavier infantry though still would survive point blank shots unless to the head.4
thanks, i will keep an eye out for them, must just have been bad luck that i did not find them yet.
  20. High chief Kieran

2h units are useless unless archers get nerfed

Arrow can still hit you in the eye, or in the neck. Or even in the arm. It is not a mortal wound, but you are not a warrior for a few weeks.

But in this game even worst hunting bows with hunting arrows can penetrate scale armor from 200 meters wich is just stupid.
the problem with scale armor was exposed body parts, while it is true that it offered better general protection than mail armor it did have a few disadvantaged, it was less flexible, was vulnurable to an upward trust and like i said had more exposedbody parts.
furthermore scale armor was invented before mail armor, it was only the later scale armor that had better protection, the earlier scale armor was not as good as later scale armor. so something being called scale armor does not necessarily make it beter than mail.
unless you want them to remake the engine so they can make certain parts of the body (like armpits for example) uncovered while the rest is covered by armor this is really the best we will get in terms of reallity of arrow damage vs armor (not calculating distance).

The game already records shot distances so I don't think it'd be hard to implement
true, this would be a good sollution, did not consider it already had shot distance records.
