Stones makes the same dmgs at full speed or close combat, not a lot, but enough to obstruct my actions.
Looters to not use slings, just throwing rocks. Slings by the way did not have a reload time of one second, and balearian slinger for example were elite troops, not looters. well in fact, they were also looters...
