  1. How long is yours? An in-depth discussion about weapon length.

When selecting a lance shaft in the smithing window, they list 'one handed polearm', 'two handed polearm' underneath. Some say 'two handed polearm' twice - if you use one of those, it should be couchable when crafted.

Well I'll be damned. You're right! Thanks for the tip!
Any more insights about smithing that I may have missed?

    Cheers,

    Marty

  3. How long is yours? An in-depth discussion about weapon length.

I've been experimenting a bit and this is what I found so far.

I made the longest Falxblade polearm I could (reach 283) and while admittedly my skill isn't very high yet (around 130) it was way too slow. I'll keep experimenting with polearms. By the way, it seems impossible to craft couchable lances, so the longest couch lance I found was 200 I think. Too bad.

I also made a couple of 2handed swords. The big unit for on horse (length 145) and that performs pretty good. In sieges not so much. Not enough room to swing. So I also made a short 2handed Pointed Falchion (length 103) and that seems pretty effective. Fast, good in enclosed spaces and with plenty of damage.

Going to test some 1handed weapons I made (axe, mace and sword) for the various tasks. I'll let you all know what I find out.

    Cheers,

  4. How long is yours? An in-depth discussion about weapon length.

Hello people, one of the benefits of smithing is customizing the length of your shaft, pole or er...blade. Anyway what do you think is the optimal length of each weapon for different situations? On a horse, on foot and in a siege. Also what kind of weapon do you prefer in those situations...
  5. Sprinkling the strategy: Advanced tactics with radial menu

Merged this with the best thread on this exact subject.
Let us use the search function when wanting to create a new thread to see if the issue in question already exists.
On some of your points, there is already a way to achieve them, just in an unintuitive way, i recomend watching this guide

    Thanks!
  6. Sprinkling the strategy: Advanced tactics with radial menu

    Hi all,

Loving the game , especially the battles but I do have some suggestions/requests.

More commands as the title says:

Skirmish command: troop try to keep distance and use ranged weapons. For infantry backpeddaling if the enemy gets to close and for cavalry circling the enemy and pelt them with ranged weapons. Horse archers do this quite good already but in my experience javelin cavalry mostly just charge.

Advance/fall back 10 paces: Like in warband.

Move to left/right flank: either to defend or set up an attack.

Fall Back to position: Move troops to specified position while keep facing enemy.

Keep formation: Advance already does this to an extent but especially cavalry looses cohesian very fast.

Maybe more but these are some I'd like to see.

Cheers and keep up the good work.

  7. Help a noob understand. What does the "code refactor" business mean?

Duh replied in another thread they had hoped to have it wrapped up and ready for release today but found some unacceptable bugs. So sometime next week likely we'll see it, but regardless that means they are just about done.

    EDIT: Here https://forums.taleworlds.com/index...r-singleplayer-and-engine.422296/post-9487287

When they are done refractoring will that also mean that fixing bugs and implementing/updating features will be easier for them so they can roll out changes more quickly/efficiently?

Thanks for the aswers so far people.

    Cheers,

    Marty
  8. Help a noob understand. What does the "code refactor" business mean?

Just like the title says mostly/ I'm not that tech/programming savvy so if anyone can explain it to me and what the long term benefits of it are it would be much appreciated. Cheers, Marty

  10. Sturgia Terrain Needs Rework

I agree especially since that choke point is usually filled with many sea raider parties making it very dangerous for the already weakened caravans.
There are a couple more places on the map like that (although not as bad as the one you mentioned) where the passage is to narrow where you can't avoid other parties even though it seems like there is enough room.

  12. Which factions has the best type of units?

Has anyone tried out Khuzait or Aserai infantry much? I'm curious on how they are for my next playthrough and haven't fought them much this one.

Also, does anyone use 2h troops? Are they worth grabbing and sticking in their own formation?
I've used falxmen with some succes. Place them in a seperate group and line them right behind your shield infantry. Once enemy cavalry breaks trhough your line or flanks you they can butcher them. Or if the enemy infantry reaches your line and archers aren't an issue anymore charge them in. They can inflict massive casualties in my experience but are very vulnerable agains archers.

  13. What's your favourite weapon?

Favorite weapons are so far weapons I crafted myself.
One weapon was a one-handed falx. Long fast and deadly. Easy to hit victims from horseback.
Another was a shorter than normal glaive. better handling, faster and just as deadly.
And I have ofcourse got to mention bows. I like them especially the noble bow. Not the longbow version but the regular one. usable on horseback and if I'm not mistaken with higher missle velocity making it easier to hit targets.

  14. Immersive Things that i think would be good for the game

About the Mongolian throat singing, I really recommend the band called The Hu. It's a Mongolian rock/metal band with throat singing. Really cool and it fits when fighting with or against the Khuzait. Listen for yourself!

  15. Cultural conversion for conquered lands?

I think there should be a Colony building line that adds a notable in your settlements where your can recruit your faction troops.
With each level the amount and possible recruitment level increases up to noble units with the tier 3 building.
So your settlements don't change culture but you can recruit both types of units even your own faction albeit in lower numbers because it only adds 1 notable per town or village.

  16. Which factions are the strongest and weakest in your game?

Vlandia is always one of the strongest. Usually one of the empires does well most often the Southern Empire and the Khuzaits do well too most often.
Although I'm now in a capaign where the Khuzaits got steamrolled by both the Northern and Southern Empires, Vladnia as usual doing well against both the Sturgians and the Western Empire giving the Battanians some breathing room to take some of the Northern and Southern Empire territory.
But in most games the Sturgians get whipped and so do the Asserai. The Battanians usually struggle as well.
But if I have to mention just one faction I'd go with Vlandia. I don't think I've seen them lose there original settlements once without my intervention.

Hi people! Already loving the game but everybody knows it still needs a lot of work. One thing that a lot od people already commented on is perpetual war. 20. Best/Favorite infantry

Hi people! Which faction do you think has the best melee infantry and what do you think is the best all round infantry unit? I myself am quite fond of the Battanian Wildling and the Imperial Legionary. To be honest I don't have much experience with the other faction infantry. So let me hear...
