They don't suck in any fights IMO, if your goal is to siege with your army you need to build your army appropriately. Khan's Guard are still heavily armored top tier archers in sieges. Obviously you will want a sizable amount of shielded infantry, which you can recruit from anywhere. The difference between shielded infantry in the current version is not that big, their job is mostly to block projectiles anyways. My point is that they don't have to siege if you just want to join the Khuzait kingdom and stay there. The AI actually does a fine job sieging if you don't touch the pool of parties that are available to build an army with. I don't care what you put against a Khan's Guard charge it will die, even if the layout is horrible you can still charge and easily win the fight. I have quite literally rounded up 200 Khan's Guard and took entire kingdoms with that stack of units without going back to recruit more units. Sure you can do the same with Fian Champions but the ease in which you can kill entire kingdoms will be much, much more tedious. It's too time consuming to chase parties with a size of 150-200 when you have 125+ fian champions and 75 infantry/mounted units. If you build your character accordingly by going for the map movement enhancing perks and a full Khan's Guard army the game becomes a cake walk currently.
As someone who has played Khergit/Khuzait for a very long time I have to agree that they are only really strong when the player joins their kingdom. It's so easy to imprison nearly the entire enemy kingdom as the player and have other lords do the "dirty work". As much as I love playing whilst using the classic Mongol tactic (mass rain of arrows into horse charges), it is currently too powerful. The fact that Khuzait noble T4 units will absolutely obliterate any non-Khuzait unit doesn't sit right with me. Polearms that can swing are currently devastating, when you add a charge bonus to that damage you will just oneshot anything that moves. In all of my Khuzait playthroughs I barely lose troops if I fight on favourable terrain, which you should be able to do since your entire army can easily consist of only mounted troops. IMO a good change would be to swap the Kheshig's (Steppe War) bow and the Khan's Guard's (Steppe Recurve) bow, give them piercing arrows whilst significantly reducing the damage output with polearm swings on horseback. I'm sure this has been debated before, haven't been on the forum for a long time.
Isn't there a way to make the caravans stop going for a certain path? For instance: if there is a bridge and they are not able to pass it for X amount of seconds, they then choose a different path? As @Bannerman Man mentioned, the caravans can also just get attacked by a bandit party and get overrun by other parties if the fight takes too long. Maybe the caravans could run around any enemy parties, no matter the size? I've seen caravans get sandwiched a lot of times as well (they weren't mine, but still the issue remains). This includes being pinned down against impassable terrain, basically nullifying their superior movement in that scenario. I can imagine the risk vs. reward will be an issue if they are too "smart". Good luck finding the answer in any case!
You can seperate them but it's not working perfectly currently. It's still a great feature, just needs some tweaking. Sieges are much better IMO, which is enough reason for me to play the beta.
The same happens when you try to seperate anti-cav infantry with shield infantry. Shielded units are mixed with the anti-cav units even when you specifically ask for shielded units. High armor seperation seems to not work completely either, it still takes low armored units and puts them together in 1 formation. This is also the case for horsemen/horse archers. I'm hoping they can make it work but currently it is quite frustrating.
The point still stands that the developers dont have to cater to your needs. You are complaining that a mod isn't working, a mod which they didn't make. Indirectly you are saying that the developers should make these mods work at all times. If anything, you should be glad that they even announced that mods will most likely not function properly with each version of the game. They did not have to announce that to the playerbase. Just because 1 million people downloaded the mod doesn't mean that they actually made proper use of it, or even liked it for that matter. Is it hard for you to believe that there are players who want a slower game experience? Not everyone wants the ability to conquer the map in a day, or get to a high skill level in a day. For me personally the game feels too easy, but I'm not going to cry about it on a forum because I know that there are a lot of players who find the game quite difficult.
It's also not the developer's responsibility to cater to one person's needs. I'm sure someone on the forum has a complete opposite opinion. Ask yourself what you are trying to accomplish by pointing out the game is "dog *****". If you don't like the game, don't play it. Very simple.
