Additional Attack Input Options & Key Bindings

+1, I like the idea of the Chivalry 2 style alt attack but I especially want the auto-run key. It's a relatively small quality-of-life feature that should be easy to implement.

Rebellion and Kingdom creation in early access?

    Source?
Is there an official source you can link for that? I have been scouring for days and have yet to actually find anything confirmed or denied by Callum.
    ah ****, really? Any source?
It was in the discord apparently, which Callum deleted all his messages. Hopefully someone else with a better memory than me could clarify. I'm not a member of the discord though I know someone who is and apparently saw the message from Callum. There was also a couple of others who mentioned in other posts on these forums though unfortunately I can't recall where those are.

Let's hope it's just my ****ty memory. It wouldn't be the first time I've falsely recollect something about Bannerlord.

Does that mean permanent death is also not in the early access?
I don't know, hopefully it is. If it helps it's not listed on the steam page as being excluded.

EDIT: @moysturfurmer, @clearsky, @3THO, Happily I've been proven wrong. This is in response to someone asking about permadeath, children, and marriage.

A lot of features like this are present in the game, but may not be in a fully polished or "complete" state.

Modding Inspiration Thread (Brainstorm with me)

There's a low tier unit in the MP Beta with a sling isn't there?
I don't have the beta and I would be grateful if someone else could confirm or deny this but I have been watching videos and streams about the beta and have yet to notice any slings.

    Edit: Thanks Piconi

Modding Inspiration Thread (Brainstorm with me)

Slings? They were in Viking Conquest and it seems like a good weapon for lower class units like rabble.

Another idea could be small quality of life type mods like being able to rename custom weapons (if you can’t already) and other such things.
Without modding tools modders will be limited in what they can accomplish easily and thus I think it’s better to start smaller rather than larger.

A Sketch a day until release of Bannerlord

Sketch 18: Red Riding hood on the way to Grandmother's House in Sturgia.
    6nnpwynm5to41.png

I will try, I am slowly working on at least one more in my free time.
I find the concept cool, and I like the way the picture is drawn, intentionally or unintentionally, it gives it a dreamlike appearance to me.
I like the idea of this being a Vlandian soldier's nightmare after hearing about the savage warriors from the north who don wolfskins and fight with large axes and brutal strength.
Speaking of wolfskins, when I first saw this my brain thought about the thuggish
minor faction for Battania first so I was a bit confused why it said Sturgia before I remembered the ulfhednars.

Rebellion and Kingdom creation in early access?

I wonder if marriage, children, death system (then taking over child as a new player character) would be in the game in day1 EA..
Hopefully all of that's included but I would think marriage would almost certainly be included. We'll find out in a week.

Edit: Apparently Callum said there won't be marriage in early access. Basically also confirms the other features won't be there either.

    where is blog?

I can't recall anything being mentioned about when the next dev blog will be released, there might be one released along side early access release or in the following week but I doubt there will be many more dev blogs before the full version is release, whenever that might be, they said a year from early access but...

Units you would love to see added to the troop trees?

If they haven't added them already I would like mercenary spearmen, especially considering the buff that spears have apparently gotten.
Maybe sword sisters who wear good helmets? Maybe a little more variety to the female troop tree so training sword sisters, or whatever their equivalents are called, is not such a pain.

    Fix clipping issues

I doubt this is a simple issue to fix for a variety reasons but I will be quite satisfied if they can solve clipping through armour without comprising too much performance.

Yes, it is very annoying. Especially with shields
Don't wear a cape when using a shield? They probably won't fix it for shields nor weapons for that matter but they might for armour.
Maybe save cloaks for casual wear to show off in towns?

Capes and cloaks may be more trouble than they are worth. If someone makes a mod to remove all the clipping capes, cloaks and other miscellaneous cloth items that clip, I will use it.
I would think it'd be easier to disable the cloth physics, depends on what settings we can change, or just simply not use the items where the clipping is worst and most noticeable.

So... the Calradian "Empire" never had access to the sea?

The empire used to have coastal lands, but then the Vlandians usurped them along with the old imperial capital of Baravenos (which may be the original name for Pravend) and they also still have access to rivers which lead out to the sea.

horses crashing into soldiers like tanks

I can understand the grievance about horses being able to easily charge through ranks of men, ignoring any argument other whether they can or would, I think it’s more important to determine if they should.

How does it affect gameplay? Is it balanced? How does this impact the players experience?
All of these are things the developers need to consider and in its current state I think that horses trample through units a bit too easily. They don’t really seem to lose momentum as fast as one would expect so I believe this could do with some fine tweaking.

Far as I'm aware, no magical elements exist in the Mount and Blade setting. To be honest, I'm not sure whether this franchise has a proper genre designation, now that I think of it... It's basically just straight up fiction, set in a medieval setting. I think Callum's wrong here.
Even though it is commonly used as such magic is not a defining element for the fantasy genre. The setting for Mount & Blade though influenced by real life history is a fictional setting and not based off of reality and therefore falls into the realm of imaginative fiction, and since you would be hard pressed to classify it as either horror or science fiction or any of the other it would be classified as fantasy. Since it lacks the usual distinguishing traits of typically fantasy settings, like magic and otherworldly creatures, it’s called Low Fantasy.

You can have fantasy books without magic nor monsters but admittedly they are rare (probably because the alternative is much more interesting). If you don’t mind philosophy I would recommend reading The Library of Babel, a short story agreed to be fantasy despite not containing magic and the like.

I would also argue that the game depict events unlikely to happen, I doubt a single person in a medieval type setting could accomplish as much as the player can for example.

Hunting: The feature more of us know we want than I'd realized

I've played a few mods that include hunting in Warband and maybe it was poorly implemented but I found it rather pointless. It's much less hassle to buy resources than to chase down a group of deer around the map and most of the time when you caught up with them they would just run away making the whole thing pointless. Maybe Taleworlds could do a better job and not make it as pointless, but I feel like this would end up one of those features you try once, say "That was cool." and never try again.

All that being said maybe they could include a Great Hunt quest with the promise of renown and influence as a reward.

    War hounds

I don't really care much for something like this, I wouldn't be heartbroken if this wasn't included. To clarify I'm fine with dogs as pets, especially with the ability to raise a family in-game but using dogs for the purposes of warfare seems a bit naff to me.

Dogs are in the game, what they're used for though I have no idea.

I'm guessing that if there are dogs we encounter them in villages as pets and not on the battlefield with spiked collars. Then again I remember they were in Viking Conquest but I never really bothered with them so I don't know what you can do with them and they could very well have been fighting dogs. Oh, and the animation for dogs in Bannerlord is much better than before. Link to Dev Blog.

If it's the newest map, it's called Nord Town. Also, I would suggest posting this in the bugs section of the Beta forum. Link here.

    Custom Battle on Beta

I can't answer your question about ping, though I presume this to be the case, there is a battle test mod that you can download here although it is a mod and not official so the pathing on a lot of maps is faulty and the AI is lacking. With this mod, you can choose your choice of map, and set the amount of friendly and enemy units with up to three different types of units for each side. You can change around some of the game rules although I don't believe you can do normal multiplayer game types only fiddle around with things like spawn location and lighting.
It's essentially a more in-depth version of Custom Battles from Warband.

You can also create custom units and edit existing units as outlined in
    this video by Artem.

    Hope this helps!

    [ Helmet off ]Game option

This sort of thing is not my cup of tea, but I understand that people would want an option like this. I do see some issues with something like this, mainly the hitbox though it's not a serious issue.

Not something i have noticed or seen, but i have heard rumors that it might be a thing, but only rumors.
I would advise you go back and watch any Gamescom footage where the player looks at their inventory. In the centre of the inventory screen up near the top there are two icons, one a helmet and the other a bycocket (Robin Hood's hat), the one on the right is the casual wear and from what I can tell is worn when in castles and town centres. So unless they have removed it since, it's not a rumour but a confirmed feature.

Which faction will perform the best in campaign mode?

I would say Vlandia probably performs the best, I would say the Empire has a better troop tree but it’s in the middle and all three of them are likely to declare war on each other, and Vlandia although also suffering from infighting has a pretty good troop tree otherwise and has the advantage of better positioning.

I also don’t have a particularly solid line of reasoning for this but I feel that Battania is going to be everyone’s punching bag.

P.S. Do factions start at war now? I thought that it would be up to chance (with certain outcomes much more likely, like Warband)?

    What Weapons Will You Main

I feel a little dirty for saying this but I will try to use a spear as my main weapon instead of my beloved warhammer. Hopefully, with the changes they've brought to spears and polearms they should be more useful with a shield and using a warhammer where most enemies aren't heavily armoured enough for it to be preferable is a bit silly.

I'll probably switch out the spear for an arming sword during sieges. I keep a bow and arrow all the time though.
