    I'm not sure if you're mocking the current AI or trying to find excuses for disfunctional game mechanics :smile:
    If they are technically stronger it makes some sense that they'd focus on their siege target, rather than waste time chasing you.
    It never makes sense to ignore me because they should know I'm gonna return and destroy them once the settlement garrison inflict enough casualties to them.
    The other examples are simply a lack of awareness. I can't tell if they spotted your stronger party earlier, but if they didn't it makes sense they'd stay committed to the siege since they can't really effectively retreat due to speed penalty anyways.
    How the hell they could miss an army as large as theirs right behind them? They shouldn't even start the siege while there is a huge danger so close. Please stop trying to justify their sloppy work. I'm not even expecting a military mastermind AI. All I'm asking for some decent simple god damn logic.

    It's a good game if you're just curious about it and gonna play for a few days then move on. It's a huge dissapointment if this franchaise is more like a hobby to you. You come home afer work, spend time with your family or do some other things necessary you gotta do. Finally you have some personal time and you want to play Bannerlord. Then this game turns into a really bad project made by incompetent devs.

    When you have two bad choises one should take the lesser bad. The current is worse.
    Small tweaks like that won't fix anything. They gotta remake army/party behaviours. This time with logical and a little bit of realistic approach.

    Armies should ignore all forces that isent 50% of their number. Never raid and only focus on siege. And sieges should be focus on distance not strenght.
    War objectives and spies must come to the game. Then it is easy to know where there will be defensive sieges to play.
    Hell no man! You're suggesting to replace it with another broken AI

    Better it had stopped with that. It´s sad to see big armies raid a village or worse chasing parties or looters.
    Yeah it's all messed up. You can check out the new video I uploaded that shows how AI army remains indecisive, goes back and forth until gets destroyed.

    This extreme fixation is probably a reaction to Warband AI that would stop sieges to chase after size 30 parties.
    Not really, I didn't notice such behaviour in the early access versions. They changed it because people complained they can't play siege defense because AI was being smart and leaving the siege to run away when they see larger enemy army approaching. It was annoying sometimes that's true. But as you can guess TW did the TW thing. Instead of coming up with an actual solution, they took the short cut and made the AI brain dead so they can only focus on sieges without any situational awareness. Now you can play siege defense as much as you want. :ROFLMAO: Long story short we had a problematic AI and it's replaced to another problematic AI.

    TW nows that, the only difference is that a reasonable request is made to check what's happening inside a save file

    Imagine doing critics and be unreasonable when asked to collaborate and still wants make critics
    This is not an issue only occured in my current campaign. As other people in this topic agreed this is a problem with game mechanincs. Therefore all you have to do is playing the game and observing the AI armies. Even if I send a save file they won't accept it because it's modded.

    They made you waste campaign time fallowing them around at least. You could just defeat them outright and do you own siege instead. The AI is bad but it's not so much because they ignore your doomstack, but because they have no ability to do anything else. They must siege or raid or attack a smaller powered party. They can't pull in all their armies and parties to gang up on you proactively. Even if they did you could easily beat them in field battle because no matter how many units they bring they must use the predictable and bad AI maneuvers.
    This has nothing to do with AI's battle performance. That's another subject needs to be fixed. This is about how are armies programmed to behave in the campaign map. They might not wanna fight my army because of strength comparison but this doesn't mean they should ignore it and go for a kamikaze attack. There is literally no reason to justify this nonsense.

    they most likely dont want to fight you as they are full of recruits and you are stacked. so the odds on winning this fight in a simulation are bad. thats why they are not attacking you.

    beside that, the ai indeed is bad when it comes to sieges and siege decissions.
    Yes, but they don't run away either. Instead they choose to die in the most stupid way possible. They are obsessed with sieging and once they start the siege they never care about what's going on around them. You know, this conquering thing usually starts with a horrific field battle like Manzikert, Hastings, Gaugamela, almost all Mongolian invasions, etc. Bannerlord AI doesn't even bother to getting rid of a hostile force that can cause destruction of entire Army.

    @bbaydogdu could you share a save file of the playthrough where this was happening, right before, if possible?
    You can use the established tech support ticketing system as well, so we can investigate this behavior:
    There is no need for sharing save. All you have to do is actually playing the game. You'll see many more nonsense like this :grin:

    Hahaha :grin: The problem here is I guess, AI army is only focused on sieging without any situational awareness. Check out the new video that shows the kamizake siege by TaleWorld's Artificial Stupidity :grin:

    ...Here's another one. This might be even worse. AI army being chased by a similar strength army but gives no f*** and goes directly for a kamikaze siege. One of the best examples of kamikaze siege. Exploit this and own the entire Calradia in no time...

    They did it on purpose to cap prosperity since at certain point you will starve and lose prosperity. It makes no sense though because you can't do anything about it.
    Things you can't do that really they should add:
    1 Give food directly to the food stock of fiefs.
    2 Build more and more food supply farms when prosperity is high enough.
    3 Order special caravans to bring more food to the fief
    4 ORDER people to patrol and guard villages to prevent food shortage spikes from raids.
    You can't do any of this and it's very silly that in Bannerlord a city/people/ruler thinks "oh we're so successful and prosperous, I guess we'll just starve now."
    Supply Lines and Improved Garrisons provides all of those features except building farms. These might be temporary solutions. Is there any mod out there which gives options for agriculture?

    The crux of the issue is there is no actual metric for “decent NPC AI”

    The mods I’ve tried that “fixed” it, according to its fans, made the AI excessively predictable and exploitable, and all factions had the same tendencies. That’s not a fix in my book. Doing the “best tactical option” according to the author but having gaping holes and no flexibility just offered a similarly shallow experience.

    I’m not convinced the current AI is any worse then it was before. It’s just different. If all you want is field battles, it’s “worse”. If you wanted more castle defense battles, it’s probably a little “better”. They also adjusted the effectiveness of units in different autoresolve situations, so I’m curious if those were all taken into account properly.

    At the end of the day this is a six of one, half dozen of another result
    I personally don't expect them to behave as real military masterminds. But atleast armies should have some situational awareness. Right now they have 0. The AI creates an army and directly goes for a siege. They besiege a settlement and launch the assult while enemies gather up right next to them. When the army lost enough men to be exposed for an attack from the enemies outside you know what happens. Now the army is gone and nothing is gained from this mindless kamikaze attack. Few more like this and the enemy can besiege where ever they want without worrying about any threat. This is the every war in Calradia in a nutshell. I don't think people actually wanted this.

    Decent npc AI on the campaing map shouldn't be something too much to ask for. It's not the community's fault. TW shouldn't came up with that nonsense in the first place. They made a broken AI caused many people to complain, then they changed it to another broken AI. Why even bother to make something good when there is a lot of free labour to fix your mess, right?

    This is not a "you can't please everyone" situation. This is a "poorly designed AI ruining the gameplay experience" situation.
