    Introduction/Hello thread

    Hello again.

I was here for Mount&Blade 0.4-something. It's great to see that the game has progressed so far. It's even found its way onto the lists on play.com! Congrats!

    Hello again!

I don't suppose any of you remember me, but I was here a long, long, long time ago. I'm currently in the process of finding out how to reactivate my Mount&Blade subscription. I hope we get along spiffingly.  [EDIT] missed the blatantly obvious introduction thread - please remove  :?

    The Duck and Spackle Bar

    *Bursts in through the door*

"I need a fish. GIVE ME A FISH."

*notices Halden standing by the trap door*

    "That looks fun!"

    *jumps*

    Mount&Blade version 0.808 is released!

Errggh... Oh, well, I haven't played for a while. Cut me some slack!

    Mount&Blade version 0.808 is released!

Awesome. It's about time I got back into M&B.

M&B Realism, issues and also the good stuff.

    2. Armor: Its very nice that we have blunt and piercing damage to halve the efficiency of armor, i do still feel that its not just that simple, i mean sure arrows are piercing but against solid plate i wouldnt count on it to be that "piercing".

You'd be surprised. Some armour was fairly soft, and an arrow could make a dent in it without too much effort. If you were in a field wearing a flimsy metal helmet and you got hit on the head with one, your helmet would probably dent and destroy your skull.

My proposition is, that chain would keep its normal stats but suffer perhaps a 20-30% penalty against sharp objects, thrusts, anything piercing.

Ye gods, no. If I remember correctly, chainmail was worn under the main plate as extra armour from slashing attacks.

    Mount and Blade Dead?

Who knows? Maybe after .751, they'll switch my Microsoft version numbering (which goes up by about 0.000002 - about two one-hundred-thousanths - every version). So the next version will be 0.751.48565.785U482 Beta 2 Service Pack 6 with Super Interweb Buffering version -47342.4724378683HUlongversionname.

    Mount and Blade Dead?

Unless you guys are getting sale figures, you don't have a clue what you are talking about !

    Who is this person?

I think there's already a thread about this somewhere.

Buuut, if you want to add her, here's my tutorial.

    urr, a little help please

You need Thorgrim's map editor, the unofficial editor, and edit mode to be enabled.

    To enable edit mode:
    1. Open rgl_config.cfg in your main Mount&Blade folder.
    2. Scroll down (if needed - .751 make rgl_config much simpler) to edit_mode_enable and change 0 to 1.

    To make the town itself:
    3. Open the Map Editor. Take the necessary steps to add a new town with a name in your desired location.
    4. Open Mount&Blade using the modification with the town you added.
    5. Travel to your town. Press CTRL+E to enable edit mode. If you follow the instructions on the top left, you should be able to create the interior (or exterior if you're that keen) of your town.
    6. Use the unofficial editor to add the finishing touches. A documentation can be found here. NOTE!: NPCs require an entry point to appear. You can place these in-game in EDIT MODE.

The hard bit is creating the conversations. I'm afraid that is beyond me, but I'm sure some of the more experienced modders will be able to help you there .

    Good luck!

P.S. As far as I know, there is currently no way to add a town without going into M&B and using Edit Mode. No easy way, that is.

    favorite weapon

I've found myself warming to charging at high speeds on an expensive horse with a supersharp awlpike at naughty topless women topless river pirates.
  12. Tentacle

    Unused units?

River Pirates turn into Bandits and the like. I like that idea - I would like to see town sieges with levelupable armourers and the like.
  13. Tentacle

    Unused units?

I think the 'unused' units should be added into an appropriate party that already exists.

Oh, and you can make any changes you like with the unofficial editor.
  14. Tentacle

    The suicidal river bandits...

I would go 'Oh my lord. You killed Kenneth!'.

    unoffical editor questions regarding parties

Party templates are... well, templates of parties. Take the River Pirate party template - that says to the game; the name of the party, the minimum of party members in it, and what type of party members are in it, such as river pirates, vagabonds, etc. If you fiddle about with the River Pirates template, say, you replaced 'river_pirate' or whatever with 'dark knight', dark knights will appear in the place of those pirates.

    Armour resistance and puncturing

I thought that armour should have a 'Resistance' attribute, like shields. It's kind of like durability, when it runs out, it gains a negative prefix and suffers a small defence loss. Its durability is replenished, but it is 10% lower. For example; you have full black armour, with a Resistance...
  17. Tentacle

    Feats

I think perks are a bad idea. I would, however, welcome the implimentation of characteristics, as in builds (as in body shapes), attribute bonuses, and charm (flutter your eyelids for a good deal).

[Outdated] Unofficial Mount & Blade Editor (0.403b - for 0.750)

It totally works with 7.51, doesn't tamper with saved games, exept for one thing. It borks up the castle attack sequences, but that's fixable by copying your native mission_templates.txt into your mod folder.
