    I was just wondering if anyone can give me a quick outline on what would be needed to make a costume character model that would not use any taleworlds owned  information and get player made armors to fit it.  I would like to use some open source armors in a learning project I am playing with on...
  3. "Class" on M&B scripting/coding/modding... ?

    Tuturials are helpful but no necessarily the only way to learn stuff.  When people study for the exam in the US to be a Lawyer they use all kinds of different methods to learn the same material.  Question and answers, text reading, audio lectures, one on one tutoring, reading outlines, making outlines etc.  Seems like learning from a few different angles  is the sure fire way.

    I think there are some modern scene props in a open source pack floating around. I got some sounds for cocking a shot gun and some other stuff  I gave cdvader for his mod I can send to you as well.

    Looks fine man. I would just point out that your "scening" not "mapping" small thing which you may already know but If you did not it could trip you up slightly in the tutorials.  Mapping is like the world map you move your little guy and horse around on.

    Warband "scenes" are  the area you fight in. Which is very customizable.


    The map like single player world maps are not implemented for muliplayer warband.

    I could put your weapon models in the game for you once your finished or I could teach you how to do it yourself. Its not very hard once it is explained. Its up to you. The other stuff I mentioned earlier I  cant do and a better coder would have to do.

      You could figure  the model replacing stuff out with all the documentation and tutorials and stuff but connecting the dots can take time and some times one little point of confusion can block your  progress. If I went over it with you it would be  faster.  And you would not have to rely on someone else to do it.
  8. DotA inspired gamemode for warband?

    Pretty sure all that is do able code wise.  Some stuff will require a highly skilled warband coder to pull off.  I am a fan of some of the game play elements of dota.    I cant code this stuff but plus to haste items can be done by making each player's avatar a unique troop. Then use the global troop skill set comands that cdvader has listed. It would also require heavy game mode altering of which I am not sure how successful people have been with that. Limiting items and for a troop is real easy. Slowing or speeding up or down could also possibly be done with weight but some weight factors are not working or significant enough by themselves alone last time I tested it out in .720 version.

    Battle map or scene editting is relatively easy as well.

    Major challenges I think would be. 

    Items boosting player stats,

    level and experance system,

    Game mode alteration,


    Some things I am not sure about because I am relatively new to moding and such.
    Not sure  if this is helpful at all to you.

    Not sure about passive abilities you would have to do work arounds that would prolly be odd. (I am very well be mistaken) (don't know what would be a trigger for the ability to start) Or how to code in a dice roll for the hp full heal possiblity.

    You could make the troop or hero that uses horses have all their weapons not work on a horse maybe. I am not sure if cant use on horse back works for melee weapons (nevermind doh pike cant be used on horses so yeah you can restrict weapons not to work on horseback and shields).

    I could just explain to you how to do it via ventrilo, phone, messenger etc if you want. I am a good teacher who likes to talk lol.

    The invasion mod you have is very very  close. I bet you guys could team up have a medivial envasion version and a zombie themed mode as well.

    Yeah I think its more of a show case.  Seeing 100 of models with that type of detail would blow my computer up for sure!

    Yeah the middle ware stuff is suppose to be significantly faster then building a game. This stuff would be more complex then moding warband but the degree of complexity is the big question. It may be not a large step up for the freedom it could provide where warband has its limits.  I am not saying anything as a being the truth or a hard and fast fact but just to check it out and see what you think. There is a free version that has a few less features. I would love to see what some of you think about how easy or hard it seems compared to warband. Some of you guys are so damn good at your modeling/coding etc that  I don't think a step up would be  a big deal.  It's just a thought thats all.

    If your cant find any help I can try a few things I am not very good at coding but  I can do weapon swap outs and make your zombies run slow for sure.  Game mode changes I would have a hard problem doing without some good examples.  I have never done skin changes before but I am pretty sure there is a few easy to follow guides on it. I can also answer some of your module questions. I am by no means an expert or anything but I have learned a bit about the system over the month or so I been playing around with it.  Cdvader, Yoshiboy etc are really some of the top fan coders, but if they are all tied I can be of some limited help.

    Yeah, I know!  If we could get enough people maybe we could do it with out too much time for each of us. I hate doing anything complex and large by myself or with a few people its just too much and overwhelming!  If we could get like 10 or so people and get a solid design outline out  I think we could have a shot. All the weapon and armor and sounds models with engine's efficacy is a real time saver. They got like 3 different game demo's with full reference data and documentation. So  its is definitely more advanced and involving  them moding warband but it opens up a lot of options that warband does not allow.

    If we could get enough people together It would be a lot of fun working on a game using the unity 3d engine. Its a middle ware game engine that has a free version that does not have all the features as the retail version.  If people got into it we could always do a lot of the ground work on the free version and then pitch in some money for the full version to finish it off.  We got plenty of a open source weapon and armor models to work with if they can be converted. We got  plenty of open source sounds.  I got a bunch of building models that are professional quality as well that I bought.  Just a thought.  The game engine is based around object orientation.  I not sure how to explain it correctly so you will have to check it out.  Its suppose to be real easy and faster then typical game making.

    I feel your fustration man. I hoping that in 2012-13ish when their next game comes out they use a more modable  3rd party system. That being said I am thankful for what we got as well.  Although, its in their interest to make a very flexible system because unique and creative mods can add  years of value and sales to a game.  Warcarft 3  and DOTA,  Half Life with Counter strike, etc.  Even when you play warband its pretty noticeable how feature light the game is. It may be simple in a good way to some but maybe it had to be?
  17. problem running a warband dedicated server

    When you start the batch file you are effectively hitting the host a game button.  The server is up and going. The question remains is if the server made it past your ports and such or not.  Check the internet game list to see if you see it.  Also, you may have to hit start search a few times.  The host game stuff is irrelevant to hosting a detecated server through using the batch file and stuff.
  18. Warband battle modes.

    Any coders have any experience with warband game mode moding.  Any advice, tips, limitations, code examples etc. Would be awesome! I would love to try to get some battlefield 2/2142  re spawn and squad stuff to work in the conquest mode stuff.

    I have yet to get a trigger to work on a melee weapon but I am not sure its my code or the trigger.  I have only played around with spawn scene prop so far with melee attack trigger.  It_on_missile_hit works well tho for scene prop spawning and everything else I tried.  Although it will not trigger on shield hits. I bug reported it. Works on anything else so far.
