  1. The Great Mike Loades on 2 Handed Swords, circa 1184!!

I'm not exactly a history buff, but I watched a very cool PBS documentary recently about how Scandinavians had access to crucible steel as early as the 9th century. It would be cool if something about these "Ulfberhts" could be included as well.

Yeah I saw the documentary but I watched it on Netflicks. Very interesting stuff. Unfortunately though, after watching it, it left me with more questions than answers lol, but such is often the case when studying history, especially during that time period where so little was recorded via literature/documents.
  2. No More Decaps?! + Enemy Overpowered Issue

LMAO! dido. Yeah I personally never came across the headless attacker glitch but sometimes a persons helmet would get stuck floating in the air after I cut their head off, you'd just see a big ass battle field of floating headgear and no bodies attached to them . I still didn't mind that though, That's what the check was for, if the glitch bother's some people too much then uncheck the damn check box so you don't have decaps. But I NEEEED decaps for my mod.

And from the sound of it with the options of 1/4 health ect not working, I guess it's likely in my best interest to try to unpatch it to a earlier patch, say, before the decaps and no mod-weapons were removed/rendered useless. Anybody wanna run me through how to do that right quick?

Lastly, are they going to at least make this damage system optional? It would be really great if it was optional. When I'm working on my machinima, the more control I have of whats going on and who gets killed and who doesn't the easier my job making the movie is. When I'm playing for the hell of it and for fun I'm all for a tough challenge with evened odds if not odds stacked highly in everyone's favor but me. Makes for a more interesting game.

Please Dev Gods of the AD 1257 Mod, I beg of thee, bring back our skill to dismember our enemies. Bring back our ability to gain favor in the light of the God's to go berserk like Legends and Heroes on the battle field with want for worry of injury (or at least make it optional). Ok my rant is over

Ok so I just got around to using the SVN updater yesterday and man there are some pretty good changes, some are noticeable right off the bat like new fem-faces, and PBOD this is Great! Greatest Mod every Made for M&B:WB hands down! I'm a history buff so this mod appealed to me right off the bat. And boy did you guys nail it on the head for as much as I've explored it so far. Been playing your brilliant mod for almost a whole year, I've had Warband for a few months longer than that and As of now I have 2109 hours logged in Warband on steam, With no doubt in my mind  a good 1300 of those hours were spend gleefully in 1257 (mostly as a crusader or an English Knight  )

Well done you guys, I hope to see you all back and working on something for Bannerlord after it comes out but I respect that that is your decisions.

I hope I'm not overstepping but as a final request, could you possibly fix the visual bugs in the Templar and Hospitaller Surcoats, the Crosses are indented into the chests, its been like that for me since about 4 or 5 months ago, maybe longer. Sorry again if I'm overstepping my bounds.

Take care and feel good, You've all accomplished something wonderful here.
  5. Armour Revamp

Tassets served as added protection absorbing the kinetic energy from a sword strike reducing the damage the wearer would receive. They achieved this by being hung on either hinges or rings off the bottom of your cuiress or breastplate usually in 4 pieces for infantry one each to cover the front and back of your thighs, and 2 for cavalry who would not have worn the rear ones as they would be pointless (there romp being in the saddle and all) and would have been very uncomfortable. One would still have worn Brigadine thigh guards and chainmail chausses under these tassets.
  6. Armour Revamp

This is probably true, but if your suggesting 6 or 7 slots I'd suggest that at least one of those be reserved for a cloak, cape, cloth or chainmail mantle or plate armour gorget. so in other words a neck/back slot which could also be used to wear a necklace or knights chain or what have you. Also they should add another weapon slot while were on that subject and another/secondary chest slot. Also I'd like to see the surcoats get upgraded to a more realistic appearance for instance your not going to wear an ankle length shirt of chainmail with no split in it under your surcoat that has a split. Historically, most surcoats had a split in the front and back.

Also having 2 chest slots would be really nice. You'd have one for you chainmail or what have you and the second for your surcoat or over coat or tunic or tabard ect. This way if you didn't want to wear chain mail but still wanted to wear your surcoat say maybe over a shirt or a gambeson or something similar then that could be an option. and you should also have 2 Legs slots or rather a pants, hosen, trousers, mail chausses, plate armour cuisses, brigadine armour slot and a boots, greaves, shoes, sandles ect slot which should both be seperate from the 2 chest slots. You should be able to see your legs while wearing a surcoat even if your wearing a knee length shirt of mail wich should have splits in it much like the mail hauberk in the Warband game and when you move the surcoat should also move around a bit not just stretch the texture like it does now.
  7. Armour Revamp

Hell, I think its a great idea. You should have way more armour options.

It would even be nice to have it cut down to two of the same attachment so you'd pick your base layer (clothing/padding/maille ect) then your rigid armour layer if you happen to wear rigid armour or if its the chest layer a surcoat or similar should also be availibe.

So starting with the head it might look like:

    Head
    Base layer: Chainmail Coif
    Armour layer: Great Helm
    Neck layer: Red Cape

    Torso
Base layer: Chainmail Hauberk (this would count for the arms' base layer as well)
Armour layer: Surcoat with an Inverted V cut

    Upper Arms
    Armour layer: Pauldrons

    Lower Arms
Armour Layer: Full canons with elbow cops
    Hands layer: Articulated gauntlet

    Legs/Feet
    Base layer: Chainmail Chausses
    Armour layer: Brigadine thigh guards
Foot layer: Full Plate greaves with articulated sabatons

They should add catapults, children, and more factions.

My friend I couldn't agree more. Siege combat offense would be far more fun with catapults, ballistas and battering rams and maybe even pots of boiling oil and fire arrows as deffense.

Children are a must. I will give up on M&B altogether if it isn't included.

More factions is also nice, maybe even religious military factions or perhaps the ability to join a bandit party, for instance think of Robin Hood
  9. New function of wife

here here. I second that motion.
  10. Expanding on Social Life: Marriage, Children, Divorce & Religion

It would be nice if there were added elements to marriage. In Warband, once your married there's not really much of a point beyond that, your wife can see to setting up feasts and realm wide get togethers' but other than that she's pretty much useless as it stands now. I'd propose having more...

    Hi to all
i'm be enlisted as soldier(first rank) of the emperor of the empire romanae army, i can't upgrade my rank and during the game arrive a message"your arms are weak and you can't be promoted". Is a bug? what is it the problem?

Ok so pretty much it is as it says but I'll elaborate on it abit. So pretty much each troop tier has specific requirments inorder for them to level up, but the game automatically does this, after the required amount of expierience is earned for that troop to get all skill points need to use whatever weapons the next tier has. Ok so in other words, if your trying to rank up through the archer class, its gonna mean that you need to put more points into your powershot skill, if your trying to rank up through a cavalry troop branch, than you'll need to skill up in horse riding, powerstrike, ironflesh (if  you haven't already) shields and thats pretty much the gist of it. So whatever kinda of troop is the next one up the list just put your skill points you earn during level ups in those specific skill slots.

I'm not sure if 1257 AD has it or not, its been a minute since I've played, but there might be a troop tree chart in either under you camp menus or in your reports menu. If there is, then you can click on the next troop up from where you at an it will give all of the requirements to obtain that rank in a small box to the right (after clicking on the specific troop) I hope you understood all of that.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who plays for the sake of roleplaying, and even if you don't, gameplay wise you find moments where you're plan back fires, leaving you with a very large set back and demoralized.

Usually this is when you like restart a game. Nuhu, easy come easy goes, too much blood has been shed for this cause, and that is why we need to shed more. Because when someone wins, the fighting will end.

After two years of campaigning against bandits and oportunists that took advantage of the poor and defensless Eresa Alkali and the Calradian fighters decided to enter a contract with the Grand Principality of Vaegris, that would give them an official excuse to stop the so called noble Lords from raiding villages and murdering the people that lived in them.

At this point the Vaegris held all of their homeland along with Wercheg, Sargoth and Thir.

The Nords king moved to Praven where they controlled all of what once belonged to Swadia including good portions of the Rhodock Republic.

The mountain Kingdom was reduced to Jelkala and a few castles.

The Sarranid held no cities, only castles all of their lands now under Khergit control.

Well, it was working, we took Dhrim, Uxhal and many castles along the way. Until the Veagris went to war with the Khergit AND the nords at the same time. Reyvadin and Khudan are now Khergit, The Nords have all their lands back but Wercheg. Our armies have been beaten time and time again, our Lords are being held captive and the able bodied men, and women, are in short supply.

Maybe completely unrelated, or instrumental to this is the fact that, as a woman my liege... I mean employer refuses to make me a sworn woman. One thing Eresa Alkali is not is a turncoat, but even then, she has wiped the floor with many if not all potential rivals, her coarse and violent demeanor preceeds her. She has made many enemies and few friends outside the Grand Principality.

I can hope that a new war erupts where the Khergit and the Nords Fight each other and where the Vaegris can wage war against one and not both. Seeing how the two other note worthy factions had just declared war on the Vaegris I think by that time it will be too late.

I fear that jumping the ship and restarting with another kingdom will be very difficult because no one really likes me.

All in all very demoralizing. Am I barking up the wrong tree or have some of you been in a similar situation too?

P.S. Dude... I'm a dude.... Just in case.

Can I tell you what your problem is? I've had the same experience though I wasn't playing as a woman and I actually became a Lord/Vassal of Swadia, but if your bit of the story about the ruler of the faction your with being a woman is not a work of fiction but an actual happening in the game, I helped Lady Isolla of Suno retake Swadia for her to rule and BOOM!!! things just started going down hill from there. I'm mean Harlaus wasn't doing too great as king at the time but at least he was able to somewhat keep the enemy at bay, but this dumb ***** declared war on the Rhodoks who already held Uxkhal the Nords who Had Praven and Suno and the Khergits who had Dhirim all at once! Talk about your lack of skill in tactics. As a side note I should mention that Dhirim and Praven didn't fall into enemy hands until after the rebellion was over.

So in short I'm gonna have to say that, thats most likely your problem, not to be sexist, but for whatever reason Female NPC's kinda suck as Monarchs in M&B:WB

Could you tell us if there are some other requirements for the crusade? Like: No other crusade at that time, being a landed lord, having relations with the pope, if any?
In my game, I have about 150 000 gold, >0 relation with the pope, and he wouldn't talk about the crusade thing either.

You have to be a lord or a king in order to be able to finance a crusade. Don't know about the 'no other crusade at that time', cause my buddy the Popey always agreed upon me handing him over 100,000 dinar for a crusade. As a lord, ie. vassal to someone, you can also go to your king and ask him for a couple of months leave in order to help the brothers in the holy lands. You then will technically belong to the crusaders, ie. go on a personal crusade with just your army. Fiefs etc. which you are being granted will always belong to you even if they are of the colour white like all the other fiefs in Hierosolymitanum. In order to return from your personal crusade, you have to return to your original liege (say you're a vassal to England, then it is King Henry) and tell him that you have returned from the crusade and are ready to take up the sword again in his name.

I personally prefer this way to paying 100k and starting my own crusade. This is in my opinion the best route to take however, as I've said before I've never really delved into paying the pope and starting my own quest of the cross. I'm sorta curious what factors into the crusade ending if you went that route and paid the pope to start your own crusade? Also if you went that route, do you get to decide what your targets are, like what citys or villages to take? and lastly do you get to keep them an collect their rents and taxes?

@ Sotuu Well shoot. I learned something new lol That beats my ass backwards suggestion by a mile
  15. 1257 AD F.A.Q.

@ Adamek hmm not sure, they used to be a merc faction that you could hire like regular mercs in the town taverns in the Crusader States, but I haven't seen them in a long time. I think they got replaced or removed after the update that changed Hero NPC's from being hired/recruited in the taverns to being hired through the main town menu and through owning a fief when either inviting nobles to your court (Hero NPC Nobility) or to a hunt through village main menu (Hero NPC Nobility).

So ever since that update a lot of things have been made different, You might be able to "fix" that by using Morghs Editor or maybe using that editor to add a crusader class to branch off of an existing troop tree like Euro Mercs or the Iberian faction troops. However, if you used a faction specific troop tree to branch them off of, keep in mind that they would be used by all factions that use that troop setting so for instance the Iberian which is the Crusader States troop default, is also the Teutonic Order's Default and I believe the Vatican's (the Pope's faction) as well as some others not specifically christian. Your best bet would be to just branch them off of the Italian Merc troop tree, Thats what I did.

Also the troops themselves still exist withing the troops.txt so when you open up morghs editor just find them I think they start at like 87 or something and then keep their numbers in mind, then find the troop class you want them to branch off of, then at the top center of that editor, above the troop name bars there should be a couple of drop tabs for "upgrade path" just use those drop tabs to find the Crusader/Templar/Hospitaller ect troops you want that merc faction to branch out to then hit update and then save and boom, good to go.

    @TheShaman

Have you explored all conversation options. I think its under "I want to ask you something" tab or something like that. I wouldn't know to be honest, I've never experienced this problem before I've only messed with it once I think, it didn't really do anything for me. Personally I'd just prefer talking to one of the Christian Kings that I'm a vassal of and asking for leave to fight in the crusades then coming back a year or two later with a **** ton of money, renown and honor, and possibly, depending on how I want to shape my character; a wife and some land.

I know its not my comp and all of my other modules work fine.

I am not sure if its the latest mod that has cased this problem; but I just attended a feast and some of the women were semi naked and did not know their names and could not access their family connections!  Bizzar!   Others around the brazer were clothed and could remember their names - never seen this before...

Maybe its not that weird than because I too have had this issue, though not exclusively with just 1257 AD but for my part, it seemed to be most common in the Anatolian Kingdoms as well as the Iberian ones, so the Byzantine Empire, Most of Italy and Sicily and other surrounding countries. Only once have I noticed it in Scotland and twice in Ireland though never in England or France though the Scandinavian and Baltic countries I wouldn't know cause I don't spend much leisure time there lol.

  19. A Death Option Proposal

@sean38 to answer the last question, hell yes that would be really awesome. About the spouse thing though, not to be sexist so nobody take it the wrong way, but if your playing as a female your spouse is a lord in which I can see that working but if your spouse is a woman and your PC a male, I cant see a woman who's used to being in court life e.g. not combat and stuff, I cant see her up and leading men into battle just cuz her husband died. Unless, I think there should be one exception, the personality of the adventurous woman, you know the one where her description is "she loves to hunt and ride" other than that, I'd say if you have a child they should as you said, inherit your original PC's fiefs expensive equipment it took 3 in game years to get ect lol. If no wife, no child and no relative I'd say that should be game over, over and out. Otherwise whats the point of implementing a death option if there no "real" ramifications like Game Over.

Also marrying into royalty would be nice. Also to add again to the what I'd call "continued gameplay" more than death, It would kinda be cool if there was like a inherited heraldry and family tree added maybe then multiply generations of your family over the years and if so, then that means bigger family, more easy right to rule and there should be other things implemented with a "continued gameplay option" but that should be covered on a different thread.

Also right quick, I really need to know, is this all just talk, or is somebody actually working on this? like any of it?
