    I consider Age of Empires Two to be my personal favorite but I also think that if the original Age of Empires had formations it would be just as good. I will take a look at Cossacks.
    I am thinking of making general units that most faction has and than a few that country only units.

    one thing though is that if food was a resource it would be like you have some people gathering food but the people also need to eat the food as in for each person or soldier you have one piece of food is deducted from your total points like say every ten seconds. What do you guys think of that.

    I don't have a resource, but you can check Wikipedia :razz:
    I was taught in school that every soldier in medieval times had to buy his equipment on his own. Only the wealthier people could afford both good armour and a horse.
    Also a horse must be trained to fight in a battle, because untrained horse wouldn't charge at the enemy.
    It was very expensive, so poorer people couldn't fight mounted, not even recalling peasant... :wink:

    I am sure some peasants could fight mounted but at most they would probably be no more than light mounted skirmishers.
