Modding Q&A [For Quick Questions and Answers]

Lmao close but it's more of an enchanting system that would require 100+ new items which would lead to lag and graphics card crashes so I was trying to make one "base" item of each and then use the adjectives for the strength of the enchantment

So you can't give them triggers as well as values? Alright thanks

Is it possible to add new item adjectives  such as old, timid, large bag, heavy, etc and also to change their functions?

True as that may be about the lag, 1257 anno domini has the entire world during the time of the Jerusalem crusades with every city and castle and village matching the factions at that time and the lag is caused by the 100+ Lords, not the villages/towns/castles but overdoing it would cause lag eventually.

Another suggestion or thought of would be to add territorial bonuses to the races, may b a bit hard to code, such as elves get an "ambush" bonus in forests, drow, dwarves, and rhodok in the mountainous regions, swadian, khergit, get a bonus in open fields, sarranids and the undead get one in wastelands, the vaegirs and nords get bonuses in snowy regions, and or a get one when they have the lesser numbers sort of a berserkers rage

I don't know if this was already discussed, but how about super troops for the added factions. I know this might sound that it might make them overpowered, but of course we can increase the rarity of these type soldiers. Here are my idea,

Elves: Corellon Chosen, these troops come from a prophecy of an ancient bloodline of elite elven warriors. Their swordsmanship and their magic is unmatched by most mortals. Also they're very fast and agile. They're rare in most cases though. Best way to deal with these guys is throw heavy armoured soldiers.

Orcs: Orc Beast, The very large variants of the orcs. They're almost as tall as an iron golem, and are very dangerous. Even though there are very slow, they have a monsterous damage rating and have a huge pool of health. Best way to deal with these guys is to stay far away from them or for a more strategic way, charming them to turn against their orc brothers.

Ridas: Grandmaster mages, their magic power is almost god like. They know ever spell there is and their magical power and defense is superior to most. Very rare in numbers, but 1 can be a huge problem to a huge company of men. They're also very skilled in using their staves as melee weapons. But their constitution is average of a veteran soldier. Best way to deal with these kind is throw heavy cavalry charges.

Drow: Beings of Loth, shadow like beings, their power, physical and magical, are very superior to many. They have great speed, great magical power and defense, great strength and great skill. Their one weakness is the lack of their kind. So they can easily get swarmed if left out of a crowd. Best way to fight this kind is of course, swarming them with Cavalry.

Dwarves: Mountain Keepers, very elite dwarves that are very skilled in melee and with a aquebus, they're nothing to take lightly at all, for their shooting ability is unmatched, and they can easily dominate a battle with axes. Best way to deal with these guys is throw non magical range power.

Blazing Hand: Angels like beings (couldn't come up with a specific name), these beings are descendants from another realm, fighting those who appose the balance of the world, or just provoke the blazing hand. Their magical ability is god like, as well as their melee ability with one handed weapons. They also have a good amount of speed. Best way to deal with these guys is swarms of heavily armoured troops or bows.

Undead Empire: Arch Liches, Past undead archmages that had once lived and ruled Ridas, but empowered by necromantic magic. They are very powerful in magic means, and necromancy. They can cause many troops to flee by their dark magic, and can easily destroy many troops with their deadly fire magic. Best way to deal with them is white magic.

As for having the race unique beings that are almost godlike, wouldn't it be simpler to contain their numbers and capabilities if you made the faction leaders godlike and their corresponding lords slightly less powerful? Maybe mages with the same spells only much more powerful, drown with no mesh battle armors that make them (invisible) and elves with hypersensitive bow speed skills etc but again maintain it to "new-race" lords only to also emit players from building a massive army of god warriors, but the ability to get the god-lords equipment from defeating them.

Also a few spell idea if this isn't a lot to ask for.

Reanimate: Summon corpses from the battlefield and resurrect them as your soldiers. In order to do this, you must be higher than the dead soldier's level. Also, you can only summon 4 per battle. (This might be hard to code.)

Frost Bolt (If there isn't a spell like this in the game yet: This spell will slow down targets and will deal 5 damage ignoring all armor. Good for big melee damage dealers. Also will slow down the reload time for range units.

Eagle Eye: Improves the proficiency of bows for ally range units around you.

Deflection: Deflects a spell from a spellcaster and reflects it back to the caster. (May be hard to code.)

Infestation: Will summon parasites which will slowly damage the target, can spread to other targets, including ally soldiers and the caster himself.

As for the reanimate, it already happens after a battle with a number based on your necromancy and int based on my exp

Frost bolt could be similar to fireball but less damage and trigger a penalty to athletics and archery/crossbow/firearms (but it would be highly op combined with 20 elven rangers so limit to 1 and make it's attack speed ab 40 instead of the base 90-110 (makes it like it has a chant to charge it up)

Eagle eye could be a temporary boost to all allies that triggers a gain of say 50 archery/crossbow/firearms

Deflection could be another shield with very low durability and a size to cover the body and have the fire projectile coded with the block damage to "reflect" the shot

Infestation would probably be best set as a swarm of locusts or something that do scattershot damage like missile storm except much less damage

I'm not good at detailed coding but these seems like the most logical paths to take in my opinion but it's just a suggestion ab the previous suggestion :p

Hmm true.. Either only make base items enchantable or script a duel adjective function if it's even possible otherwise we'd need copies of each item say Sword of Flame +1 etc and the pre existing adjs would transfer over making a Fine/Old/Exquisite  Sword/Bastard Sword/Two-Handed Sword into a Fine/Old/Exquisite  Sword/Bastard Sword/Two-Handed Sword of Flame +(1-5) etc and you'd need five copies of each item that is enchantable or more so either simple script and tedious work or complicated script and no tedious work, but this is all still up to guspov or someone who wants to script it and offer it to him for him to test and approve

Items already have adjectives such as worn or fine, well-made or large bag, etc so maybe just add new ones to this list an script them out of stores and into npc chat options?

Does anyone know how to get the staffs with the flame power effect in game? I figured they were supposed to have a magic attack of their own or something's side from their regular Mage staff counterpart

Ehh call me weak, it's not a choice but a habit, if I need money I take the  easiest and fastest route I try to make it fair by doing a tour from city to city tho

Btw teo, you blunderbuss idea might work as more of a hand cannon cuz the fireball can be made into an arrow and keep it's effect so I don't see why it wouldn't work as a bullet

You should try putting two points in entertain, buying a lute and the guitar then trying to do a music thing in towns you'll fail one out of 4 an get 100 ea times you succeed (it's a bit op tho :/ )

I usually do well with anything besides the javelins and being the archer is the only one with a side weapon

    Sword and shield
    Claymore
    Bow and arrows/dagger
    Javelins and shield/javelins melee
    Lance and shield

Those are the only options but my chars suck at range and I myself suck with short weapons and spears so I have to scramble for a weapon ASAP when I get a ranged weapon which makes it hard in the beginning and I lose hundreds of gold

Okay a legit suggestion is to make an option where you choose your tournament weapon layout

You carried over the triggers and such as well? I think it would be neat to have abilities (such as arrow volley, which would shoot 10-15 arrows with low accuracy and high spread but only two arrows and then use the Quiver of plenty a replenish ability to make the "recharge" happen) and I can't seem to make the tunnel version I was planning on :/ but maybe I could make it work with some help from guspov

The lines separating my foreign triangle are impassable on the game map (I can't move from the map to my triangle) it's for making multi level maps but the only thing stopping it is the tiles not lining up perfectly and being one piece rather than several tiles

Keep some of the files and just transfer them over when you do update? And yea I've added an entirely seperate elven race based on magic that I'll have to redo and I've altered magic missile to be an arrow that works with the magic both with no gravity or friction effect so it goes straight its been like deadly heaven for me  I walk around with like 40 legolas who shoot soul arrows xD

I've tried welding but it just groups multiple vertices together permanently which still leaves them untravelable, and I'm trying to implement something to the game that the only setback is this
  19. Lord Wolfe

    Suggestions

Yea if it wasn't for that I would've already had the tunnels done but I'm basically the same, because of limited internet my tools and availability are limited so I work with morphs, tweak, and thorgrims, but I've changed everything to there max and even added new races with those 2 :p and to recap to the earlier post, in all honesty you would only be able to travel within the same mountain range area, mountain to mountain would be a little too far fetched as well as from one point to anywhere each time, there would be specific paths from a to be then to c instead of straight to c from a

    Suggestions

That may be true but you suck as an encourager, anything is possible with hope :p and no I can't get the textures and vertices to line up so the land can be traveled on, it'd be easy if it auto lined up instead of auto grouped the vertices
