    Caba, this solution you're copy-pasting won't work.  Steam sees the 1.142 versions as the "normal" version now, no matter how hard you try to "verify the integrity" it won't find any error.

    we can just wait or download a non-steam game version 1.134.

    No matter what, verifying game cache is useless in this case, we're in 1.142, steam is in 1.142, the game cache check won't find any error...

    we just need a downgrade.

    Yeah this has allready been proposed in many ways.

    You should look for some of those posts some have really good ideas. But I agree that it would be a good idea to prevent 2h users from spamming. Like they begin to get "tired" after 7 or 8  attacks in a row (couting feints in), then they have to rest/be defensive time to the stamina bar to fill up and then attack again. And if they don't rest, their attacks go slower each new attack after the 8th one.

    It would be a good thing to prevent Lolhammers overhead spam to, considering those are really heavy you shouldn't be able to crush through block when your stamina bar goes down.

    Yo. There is obviously something wrong with the actual melee system : we can't controle the range of our ennemy, the old kick was more or less a balance for this but it was way to overpowered, I agree. Lets just not talk about this cause it seems it won't come back and that's not the point...

    Giving a **** about what happened or not, it's still stupid to be able to block a spear+shield just by holding downward block, no matter how hard you try... That's my point.

    I realized something was wrong with what I said. Actually you can aim with the spear thrust... The thing is, even if you try to aim your ennemy's head, he can block your hit with a downward block, which is quite non-sense.

    In fact they should change the downward attack and the overhead attack of the spear. The downward one should be a more or less straight thrust from bottom to top, and the overhead a thrust from top to bottom, and then keep the side swings without shield.

    With a shield there should be only the 2 thrust attacks.

    I see your point, but I think I don't agree with it because I do not have the same reaction in front of an overprotected shield user. If he just keep backwalking with his shield up, most of the time I'll let him go away and won't go berserk on his shield 'till it breaks. If he wanna fight and come back, I rape him =)

    I agree those situations are kinda boring but I don't think the stamina thing would make it worst. But, against other good players, I think It could make some fights more "strategical", trying to make him waste his strenght while you're trying to keep yours up.

    But there's one sure thing : the stamina implementation wouldn't work with the actual kick because of what you explained and the difficulty to have an opening against those guys.

    OR it would work if they make it so when you just keep your shield up and let it being hit you loose more stamina every new hit** as it would be for real : you can take 1 hit on your shield easily, a second one, maybe a third one if you're well trained, but every time you'll get another hit it would hurt your arm, weaken you, and maybe makes you fall at a certain point.
    This situation would force the guy hiding behind his shield  to react against his ennemy's attacks if he don't wanna get overwhelmed by them.

    And it would adjust the not-so-balanced shield mechanic.

    ** : like the first hit would make you loose 1 stamina points, the second 2, then 4, 8, 14, 22, 32 etc... with your weapon's effect added. Or something like this.

    Yeah why the hell do you all think it would be a "support weapon" ? It has never meant to be that, it's more likely the most used front line weapon than anything else.

    a Pike is a support weapon for sure, but not a spear. A second thurst wouldn't be too much. Seriously, I'm asking again cause anybody seems to answer it : how can you make a spear+shield useless just by holding the downward attack?  what prevent a spear+shield user to aim somewhere else than downward ?

    I just feint some few times, (and never more than 1~2 feints), and never spam, but I've killed a lot of "intermediate players with a shield" or more. That's sure if you keep feinting and spamming he'll never lower his shield... just stand still, he will try to attack and lower his guard. The best way to win a fight isn't to hit like a furious guy, it's to be unpredictable.

    And secondo, It would be quite stupid to attack your ennemy untill his shield breaks and your hits are slow, knowing that you will be totally helpless after that. It just means you couldn't manage your stamina.

    The "overcool look like" comes from the animations I guess, it's not really a matter of stamina.

    But I can't agree more that blocking a spear just holding the downward block is kinda stupid, there's allready a thread about that where some of us propose 2 different thrust directions for the spear (+shield). So it would require the attention it deserves to fight against a spear+shield user.

    Back on the subject. I would not be against a Stamina bar, it can be quite cool to prevent peoples from spamming and being spammed, we could almost not loose any stamina if we swing like 1, 2 or 3 times (counting the feints in) and then rest a bit (defensive situation, maybe loosing a bit of stamina on blocks), but we would loose a lot more if we are spamming, it would make your swings slower and let you more vulnerable to your ennemy's attack. Maybe it would be made so your stamina bar fills quickly if you're trying not to waste it and slower if you're using it 'till it's almost empty.

    I kinda like the idea. (but stamina only for blocking would be bull****.)

    The timing for a kickslash already had to be rather precise, this does not solve the problem. Most half-decent kickslashers could pull that off with 90% consistency or more, so that doesn't work.

    Kick ruined the game experience for a good deal more players in 1.127. It's really more frustrating to new players than it is useful to them. They still have to learn to block and time their strikes, and cannot yet be bothered by keeping distance. Kick as in 1.127 steepened the learning curve without adding depth in the higher levels, which is a terrible combination.

    Ahh, now we agree on almost all those points. I like it when we are finally able to understand each other!

    Yeah, we obviously shouldn't be able to make a 180° rotation while kicking. So a degree limitation, as we suggest earlier, would be cool.

    I know it was hard for new players to face a good kick user, but just adding the possibility to block the (kick)slash if we click defense at the right time would change the balance and make it more playable for everyone.

    Lets just hope the devs will read that.

    That's the fact you can't fight one on one with it properly which makes it underpowered, and totally useless against an average player. I still don't see the point of being able to thrust in only one direction with the spear, that's just non sense you can block a weapon like that only by just holding the down block. Fighting a guy with a spear should require at least a bit of attention. This weapon has been used since we were living in caverns, it deserves more than a downward block making it useless...

    And yeah that's harder to fight a group when one of them got shield+spear, and it would be a bit more harder with at least 2 different thrusting directions , that's not a bad thing.

    Every time we are both on a same thread, it seems we're not playing the same game.

    How awesome mount & blade would be.

    Honestly if the devs would be listening all the whinners I don't know how the game would look like. Look at what they've done with the kick...
