-- Official Unofficial 'Ask Questions About Warband Singleplayer Here' Thread --

Question, how do I zoom out enough to take a picture of the full world map?

I'm playing the Phantasy Calradia mod and would like to take a screenshot of the entire world map of that mod.

How can I take a picture of the entire world map?

As the subject says, I would like to know how to take a picture of the entire world map whilst in-game. Is there any way to zoom further out or any file containing the picture of the world map? P.S: I'm trying to take a picture of the full Phantasy Calradia Map, and can't seem to find any...

    Need help with Battle Sizer.

    Gizmatics 说:
You can edit the battle size by going to the MBWarband folder, where you have your saved game files. Go to rgl_config. Look for battle_size = and whatever that number is which im not sure because I play another mod anyhow. I can have more than 800 soldiers on the field and some. But the game will tend to crash if theres too many. What crashes it are the continues reinforcement arrivals so the spawning overthrows the game. if its at 1.0 for example. Try out 1.5 or 1.8. editing it there till you find the number of soldiers you want in a battle, instead of using a mod.

Actually, I ran Warband at an extremely laggy fps, but managed to do 1001 troops on the battlefield at once.

I have a video of it here.

Thank you all so much for the advice.

I think I might just stick with what I'm good with for now, but instead put in 2 hours of duel practice everyday.

Greetings fellow multiplayer enthusiasts. I have a dilemma for which I'm seeking advice. I've always played with keyboard blocking and attacking. Been doing it for 2-3 years. But I always keep hearing that real pros play with the Mouse directional controls for attack and blocking. So my...

Well , I've been using the battle sizer mod for a long time , and what I noticed is that whatever army size you have , that beeing like 500 + , 1000+ , the game only allows 400-ish troops in each side ( if the both armies have that of course) , basically , whatever army size you have , it will top out the game at 400-500

    Really?!

Damn, I guess that's a waste of my battlesize

    Thanks for letting me know.

    Need help with Battle Sizer.

Greetings people of this forum. I have a problem with the Battlesizer utility. The problem is that I set battle size to 800, have an army of 700 in-game and went to battle with a party of 13 Looters. However in-game when I press backspace to show how many troops are ready on my side, it says...

What battle limit are you guys using?

    Harding Grim 说:
^heckani that mod is Blood and Steel.

Staying with the default battle size limit and raising it both accentuate different parts of the M&B experience. Sometimes with the default limit, the battles aren't chaotic enough. With 300+, then you have to fight tooth and nail to last the whole round. Fight through one formation of enemies, then you and a handful of survivors have to try and face a fresh force and hold out until your reinforcements reach you, or you pull back and regroup. But 400+ and it's barely possible to actually engage in combat and still last the round.

Realistically, you're not supposed to last the round. Balance isn't the reason why people crank up battle sizes.

At large battle sizes where you actually get all soldiers on the field you can finally see what the superior numbered side would really fight like.

A siege of 100 vs 1000 makes no real difference on 150 battle size, but on 700 it turns the battle into the nightmarish struggle for survival it's supposed to be. The enemy can and will employ ALL of their archers and they will all shoot your forces together at once. Enemy infantry will no longer give you a nice nap break with "New enemies have arrived", but will instead continue to zerg rush you until you're dead, and enemy cavalry will ram through your army and formations until you're knocked unconscious from being horse rammed.

The point is that high battle sizes are supposed to make you actually think carefully about getting into large battles and consider your troop types, tactics and the enemies army composition.

Large battles are supposed to have large casualty rates, and you yourself, no matter how badass, will not survive on the ground in such large battles. You'll simply become one of the many nameless numbered casualties.

Also, the game mechanics work fine at higher battle sizes...
Some siege scenes are a bit clunky with higher battle sizes. I have this one in mind, one of the Ravenstern towns, that has some spikes near the attackers´ spawn point and some troops always get trapped there unable to move forward.

True, I do of course concede that sieges and certain forest/river scenes can be a bit weird. But field battles work perfectly fine, and in fact look even more epic at higher battle sizes.

I'd personally get rid of the spikes on some siege scenes, but it's just a personal preference to make way for larger battles.

What battle limit are you guys using?

    sher 说:
150 since it's maximum in the game and many mechanics were designed and balanced around battlesize.

Fights where you are grossly outnumbered aren't realistically depicted when you use a battle size that low.

Also, the game mechanics work fine at higher battle sizes, melees, cavalry charges and archer fire all behave the way you would reasonably expect, so I don't know what you're talking about.

What battle limit are you guys using?

    700.

My battle size makes large battles realistic.

Those massive Ravenstern war hosts can now use all their archers at once, and boy is it a nightmare.

Would anyone be interested in forming a roleplay group on RPHaven for Prophesy of Pendor roleplay? The site itself is probably the best chat based roleplay site I've seen. It has it's own roll function, the ability to create multiple rooms and multiple characters with their own unique profiles...

I can solo party of looters without horse. Try 1 skill with stumper solo party of steppe bandits and you may speak differently.

Having 10 Riding makes no real difference in Singleplayer for anyone who half knows what they're doing.
You don't need 10 in any skill if you half know.

I know of course, I was merely trying to make the point that Riding is useless except for riding higher tiered horses.

And I could possibly solo a group of 10 or so Steppe bandits with a Sumpter Horse, provided I had a decent bow and good horse archery skill.

But I digress, my main point was that Riding 10 doesn't give any real benefit to a player compared to Riding 4.

    Riding and Athletics

    hruza 说:
Riding DOES make difference in speed. It wont make you outride courser using hunter, but it will make you outride other hunter. This may or may not be important to you. For example if you play as a heavy knight riding warhorse in the middle of your formation, it probably won't make much difference. If you are on the other hand lone horse archer riding courser, it might be of some value.

The most useful thing it does, is to allow you to catch up or outrun other troops in your class on the battlefield. You sure are familiar with the situation, when you are trying to catch up on your target chasing him all around the map. It can be pain in the ass. Having higher ridding then him, will make it much easier. Having riding equal or lower and you have to rely on him changing directions. In situations when you end up alone on a warhorse with bunch of angry knights or mamluks at your tail, having higher riding skill then them will make your life safer too.

Apart of speed an maneuverability, it also affects acceleration/deceleration.

Overall it's not the most useful skill thou. But it's not useless either.

Riding is mostly useless in my view.

It's only use is to allow you to ride higher tier horses and that's about it.

The improved maneuver and slightly increased speed mean absolutely nothing to a skilled player anyways.

I can use a sumpter horse with 1 Riding skill and still solo a party of looters if I'm armed with a lance or decently long swinging weapon.

Having 10 Riding makes no real difference in Singleplayer for anyone who half knows what they're doing.

    Do A.I. lords buy food?

    Illeno 说:
    Hello

I was just curious to know if A.I. lords ever use food. Do they ever run out of food?

If not, how is their party morale calculated?

    Thank you

Unfortunately no Mount & Blade game released as of yet has these things.

The A.I does not use food, does not have to worry about party morale and does not have to worry about wages and most things you'll spend the better half of your game worrying about.

    Commoners kingdom?

    Elan§Morin§Tedornai 说:
I just had something similar happen, so I thought I'd add it. I helped Arwa claim the throne of the Sarranids and now I'm almost done helping her conquer Calradia. All factions have been defeated except for the Swadians. So at one point, way after the Vaegirs were gone, I got this odd message that "King Yargolek of the Commoners was defeated in battle, but managed to escape". No idea who defeated him, but a few days later, I see him in the middle of the desert, representing the Comoners and riding towards my town Bariyye, with him being the only troop in the army. So I intercepted him and asked him what he is doing and he responded that he is weary of battle and is going towards 'his home, Bariyye' to get rest and gather troops. Well, right now he really is garrisoned in Bariyye, appearing grey among my troops, who are yellow, and he has raised 14 Vaegir soldiers so far...

Why'd you let him get away?!

This is how every peasant rebellion starts!!!!

Let's start off with an overview of Nord armies in combat.

    They have NO cavalry.

Lords, *cough* *cough* lords can be cavalry.

Also, campaign-wise you can do these provocation quests for lords, and strategically plan the downfall of one faction, and another, and another. However in Native there is a day timer on how much you can do certain quests, for example this is clearly explained in TweakMB:

    TweakMB 说:
"Quest repeat intervals are applied across the entire game, not just with the person who gave you the quest. For example, the Deliver Cattle quest has a default repeat interval of 20 days. This means that once you accept the quest, you cannot get that quest from anyone else in the entire game for another 20 days."

One Lord troop as cavalry makes absolutely no difference.
