Changelist for the next release: Version 3

You deserve alot of ****ing kudos Laszlo for taking MB precisely in the right direction. Your making a huge difference in helping MB reach its full potencial!

For the next version I really hope to see more kinds of resources (hides, wood, crops...) and varying ways to attain them like growing crops, chopping wood and hunting. And also to make it possible to trade resources/items. Maybe even have some kind of AI craftsmen that can turn resources into items?

Also I think that communication is one of the foremost obstacles for good gameplay. Speaking on TS with your team really increases the quality of the gameplay immensly, and I think that if ever an integrated voice system was developed, that would do soooooo much.
Im talking about a voice system that would limit the reach of your voice so that only ppl near you could hear what you said, and leaders such as kings or commanders would be granted a further reach. So even if you dont have a mic, you still will hear everyting your superiors tell you.
The way it is now, ppl with no mic dont even join the TS server, so it gets real hard to communicate to a larger group!

Once you fix the communication difficulties and add a little more variety to the ways you can earn wealth, then you have reached a whoooole other platform of wonderful gameplay, and much of it will form by itself when ppl are given alot of freedom: Kingdoms will form, systems on how to best claim land and sustain power will emerge on its own !

(and also it would be awesome if someone made a huge map with vast landscapes and distant towns, with LOD so that it would run smoothly )

    Love you

Original Thread - Introduction and Discussion

I didnt know mumble could do that! that would be awesome, since an integrated voice system might be far ahead(though it would be very rewarding).

This mod has GREAT potencial. What it needs though is a european server! and a TS server

    Expansion / Multiplayer suggestion thread

many of you seem to have such a narrow view on games. I agree that most games have an endless cycle of pointless combat, and whenever story is present it seldom succedes to satisfy. However, I think that MB is differnet, and why is that? It is because the developers have always kept it their highest priority to make realism their goal and measuring stick, that is why combat has evolved so much and has become so much closer to reality .

Now I think that the goal should be not to create an immersive medieval combat experience, but rather to create and immersive medieval experience, and one that is as real as possible. Combat is already very good, and is probably as close as you can come to medieval combat with a keyboard and mouse. time has come to move this enterprise to the next level.

Now some of you might think "****, a cheesy storyline is not what MB needs", and I totally agree, adding that would be to through MB down the ****ty sewer where all the other games are. Instead lets try to keep the "realism" central, How do real "stories" and intrigues emerge? they emerge through rivalry. Why did the first human beings start to fight? Someone had something that the other one wanted..... soooo implementing ownership and natural resources would be the right step to take towards REAL intrigue!

are you guys getting my point? its a small step towards something groundbreaking. And stop being so goddamn cynical, MB is different from any other game out there, and it has the potential to be the ultimate medieval simulation, so dont go and work against it!

[Suggestion]Merging online play with world play

Yes this might be the discussion for post-release implementations.. It is however good to start the discussion and start to shape up ideas while the developers are tinkering with hitboxes and coding

[Suggestion]Merging online play with world play

The feeling of a battle actually being important will have an enormous effect on the game experience. Instead of just respawning after death with another 1000 g does not offer a realistic or important situation.

Engaging in battle with someone in this gametype will enrisk your gold, as you will be looted upon defeat. Or imagine you are attacked at your farmstead, all your peasant bots could face slaughter, if they have not been trained to defend themselves properly.

On the issue of overpopulation... I can't belive people think that as a real obstacle for this idea! A 10 year old could come up with the idea that every server will reach full capacity at say 200-1000 players. if one fills up another one will be created. Of course each character will be tied to a server.

On the issue of being offline. For a single player it should be as some has mentioned, log off in a town or settlement(primary town or owned by someone else) and you will be safe. However if you are offline and you are "sleeping" in your own player built settlement, the safety of your capital(slaves, livestock, structures) will be resting on the shoulders of your AI guards, which will have to be trained in combat and paid for weekly.

If you own capital is in the "safezone" (close to the primary town) no one will be able to steal, or kill anything of yours, however if you risk to invest capital into the outer areas, you will have to spend alot on security, or have a large clan that can have a decent number of defenders (commanding the bot guards) at most given times.

Also crime could be fought with the function of bounty, for instance a player can put a bounty on a player that has stolen or killed something of his. Perhaps even the "system" could automatically set bounties on players for criminal activity.

The point is, every problem has a reasonably realistic solution.

IMO this is absolutely the right direction we need to take MB. Reaching these levels of realistic simulation should be the ultimate goal for any true Mount&Blade heart!

That's what everyone said about Multiplayer gameplay at all. So it's just a matter of time until this will be real
