Need help simply adding working firearms.

You can't find it because the pistol entry in module_items.py is commented out by default. If you uncomment it then you can have pistols in game and buy them from merchants.
Awesome, now how would I go about doing this, "uncommenting"?

Need help simply adding working firearms.

There has got to be more to it than simply making it a merchandise and allowing the skill proficiency.
When I opened the item editor on Native and found the flintlock pistol, it was already set as merchandise by default, but the flintlock pistol is not ever found within the unedited version of the game.

I remember that whenever a new item was added to the game, it took a few days for the shops to carry them. That doesn't apply here [I don't think], because I've played M&B for 2+ in-game years on some characters and never found a flintlock pistol in the shops, considering the item details lists it as merchandise. So there has got to be something else I need to do to make it available.

Need help simply adding working firearms.

I have the wp_firearms set to 1 and it now displays the proficiency and can be leveled.

As for adding the flintlock and ammo to the game, I thought there was some trick to that? When I find them in Morgh's item editor they are already ticked to be merchandise by default, but warband doesn't have these items listed for sale by merchants. Surely theres something else I need to do?

As for the extent of my editing prowess, thats basically me copying an existing weapon and adjusting it's values in the item editor... lol
Back in the day I managed to get the flintlock pistol in game and sold by merchants, but that too was with help from the forums.
When I was doing it back then, I recall the flintlock pistol not having any sound when I fired it, is that still an issue?

    What is an OSP pack?

I'm pretty much a newb when it comes to editing the game. If you can help me, try and be detailed :) I am not looking for a mod that adds firearms with a whole bunch of other stuff, I simply want guns and the skill to use them, how would I go about doing that? I'm sorry if there is a mod for...

    Difficulty isnt everything

I play on roughly 73% difficulty I think. Originally it was easier but when I retired the difficulty really took away a lot of my score. My overall ending was still a 'good' one, but I wanted to try again without so much easy mode sapping my score.

I just think the game would be less fun for me if I had to take away the "player takes 1/4 damage" thing. Sure it'd be realistic, but i'm here for fun not some masochistic challenges. So I upped the difficulty a little since a bit of increased challenge can really put you more into the game, but I doubt i'll ever go for much more of a higher difficulty rating.

    Manhunters?

I forget the names of their troop tiers as they level, but they seem to keep the exact same equipment for like 3 or 4 level ups. They are very, very, bad troops all the way up to the Slaver Chief (their max level). At this level they still aren't anything amazing, but they at least have a mail shirt and I'd assume their equipment offers a modest total amount of armor. They tend to have 1h blunt weapons and 2h blunt weapons, so they were obviously intended as slavers, they just suck too bad to succeed... ever.

Originally they were intended to be your unit for slaving, but were severely beaten with the nerf stick for some reason and are now left useless and defenseless at the hands of the most pathetic criminals. Sure you can rank them up, but they never get good until their max level, and even then their stats are very pathetic.

I suggest getting some troop editor mod to beef them up a little. Normally i'm against altering the balance of a game through mods because it makes it feel, well... imbalanced. But in this case I'd consider it fixing the game. It's just sad how poor of a troop man hunters are.

Cooldown of re-persuading lords to my side?

    DStyles 说:
to OP there is a known bug with assigning fiefs after conquering them. you get asked once you conquer if you will assign to someone but it won't really assign it. you have to go back to your hometown and do it through your minister for it to properly take effect.

Well I was doing a claimant mission (Arwa the Pearled One), this means I don't have a minister/wife person. I spoke to Arwa but there was no option to assign the fiefs again. I was able to assign fiefs and it actually work when I first started the rebellion, but when I gave a fief to Arwa and to myself thats when it broke. I'm not sure which of the two actions caused the break (or maybe both), but thats definitely the point at which fiefs stopped being assigned correctly.

...Once asked, they will not listen to you for at least 30days+ (in my game).
But you can ask them again eventually, right? I use realistic saving (+10% game difficulty for better retirement screen score ), but I suppose I could ALT+F4 to close the game when the lord says no. As far as I know, there's no auto save during dialog.

    crossbows or Bows?

I'd say bow for player and companions that aren't in charge of too many party skills. High skill costly companions, like your doctor that is in charge of 2-3 medical skills, you might want to consider a crossbow for them instead of a normal bow because of the skill requirements.

A masterwork light crossbow is the best crossbow you can use from horseback. It only costs roughly $2,500 if I recall correctly.

I never suggest throwing weapons. They may only require 1 inventory slot, but they're just too few and not powerful enough (with that low a quantity they NEED one hit killability). They're just too inaccurate even with high power throw and high weapon proficiency. I know they're only intended as short-medium range weapons, but they're just too limited all around. I'd rather have a 2nd shield than a throwing weapon, at least your back would be safe.

Cooldown of re-persuading lords to my side?

I conquered the Sarranids (rhodok war party of 2k troops may have had something to do with it), but i'd still like to know how long it takes, if its possible at all.

Also, the Sarranids I imprisoned in my castle are still prisoners, even though we're all happily Sarranids again... I talk to them and they want me to break them out of prison FROM THEIR OWN FACTION. Bug I assume.

Also, I got the bug where no matter who I give territory two when we were doing the rebellion, the territory would remain neutral. I could station a garrison and put prisoners at them, but the lords would never get ownership of it nor generate their own garrison (90% of your territory having 0-10 garrison is a very flimsy kingdom).  Now that we're all united again after the rebellion, these areas are still not owned by any lord, but are still part of the Sarranid Sultanate.

    Any input?

Cooldown of re-persuading lords to my side?

It's been weeks since I last tried to recruit some lords to my faction, but they still tell me something along the lines of, "I'm weary of politics, we'll talk again later". Some lords I failed to persuade liked me, I outnumbered, liked my companions, political state, and whatever else goes...

Chargers not appearing in market places

Now that you mention it, they are pretty rare on my game...

Having your own kingdom comes with a lot of bugs?

I have every single one of those bugs. I'd like to point out that the bug you mention about not being able to give them territory despite telling them they can have it after you conquer a fief also applies to when you're doing claimant missions. At first I could give them the territory, but around the time I eventually gave a fief to myself and one to my claimant (Arwa the Pearled One), they stopped actually taking the fiefs. I'd get rep loss with every lord cause they're all selfish or whatever, but they wouldn't ever get the fief. Whenever the screen showed up asking who to give a fief to after conquering one, some lords I KNOW still own the fief I gave them earlier will show up on the list one 'no fiefs' owned.

But yeah, i've got all those bugs

Is there a counter to mamlukes?

Sarranids don't dominate the world right off the bat because AI vs AI fights are done using the auto calc. You know that stat page you get when you have your army attack without you and you lose 15 knights to kill 3 looters? Yeah, that stat page is a very crappy way of deciding battles, so I don't count on it do be very accurate.

During a siege my team killed ~175 enemy troops and lost ~7. I eventually get knocked out and the stat page says I lose 50-80 troops per 4 enemy kills... Thats an extreme change in battle capabilities just because I wasn't on the field making the fight fair.

So yeah, don't read too much into the Sarranid's domain being an indicator of their balance.

EDIT: Part of the mamluke's overpoweredness is them being so overpowered but still maintaining a lower level. This is what lets the Sarranid lords carry so many of them, and may be why their auto calc fights don't do amazingly well like they would in a real fight (low level doesn't contribute as much).

Some things tha piss you off?

Messages that tell me of villages prosperity. These are mildly nice to know if I own the village.

Mamlukes. They are low level meaning Sarranid lords carry a lot of them, they are overpowered cavalry and foot troops, and they have too high riding skill. If they're going to be so blatantly overpowered there needs to be some mediocre counter, such as a weak horse and low riding skill so you can catch them and take out their horse. They're Sarranids, would it have been so wrong to give the desert horses instead of war beasts!?

Enemy lords loot your equipment if defeated. This wouldn't be so bad if they couldn't take books. A finite item you have no way of tracking who has it (and what if you go to peace with them before defeating the lord with your book?) should not be a lootable item for the enemy. In fact, don't let them loot my **** at all! I mean, when I take them prisoner I can't take their stuff, fair is fair.

Follow the spy mission. Rebalance it please.

Disguising into castles/towns. The odds are phenomenally low and don't seem to be based off any stat or skill. This would be acceptable if I could at least get an acceptable weapon and if 5 well armed foot soldiers didn't spawn literally 3 feet away from me horde locking me in until I die.

Tax Inefficiency! I understand why it was introduced (sort of... I mean if you can muster the man power to keep all those territories then you should be allowed to reap the rewards), but it's too potent at too low a fief count. If they insist on it, just reduce the the potency of it at lower fief counts, and add some way of combating it. Trade skill maybe? idk.

Statistic battles (aka auto calc). These are so mind blowingly broken it's ridiculous. Yes I know Tactics helps, but even then it's a joke. A huge step forward in combating this is not allowing multiple lord's tactics skills stack in the same battle, or have a diminishing effect for each lord that contributed their tactics. If fighting 5 lords, you can easily be out numbered by 20 and thats with a good bit of tactics. The skill needs reworked anyways, you actually gain NOTHING on odd levels! How was that not an automatic red flag during programming?

Mamlukes are overpowered. I refer from my earlier statement that they're not simply because I've compared their stats now and I see that they are the strongest and best-equipped unit but cost less and need less xp than Swadian Knights. Why?

Because the Swadian Sergeant and Swadian Sharpshooter are much better than the Sarranid Guard and Sarranid Master Archer. You have to look at the balance with regards to the faction, not the individual units.

It would make the most perfect sence in the history if the ratio of swadian knights and mamelukes in battles would be 1:1 and not armies spammed with the mamelukes against a few knights.

No...that wouldn`t make much sense at all. Then the Swadians would have lots of knights and lots of good infantry.

Edit: As an aside, I don`t see the problem in this thread. The guy took on at least two lords who had a superior army  to his and lost. That should happen. =P

I outnumbered him in elite units by a good amount, and trash units might as well not be on the field because they contribute nothing. It's not like my formation was broken and my units scattered, (kept them in a tight form so mamlukes would get stuck as they rode in), and they sent their mamlukes ahead of their infantry so my army died to only the mamlukes.

Numbers don't matter a whole lot on this game, just the numbers of the elite units. I've held sieges of my 200 troops staving off 2,000 troops simply because their 2,000 is 85% trash filler and my 200 were elites.

Going off the numbers alone, i've won matches where i'm far more out numbered, but as I said it goes off the number of your elite units and nothing is more elite than a mamluke. My biggest gripe here isn't that I lost, it's that the Sarranids carry too many Mamlukes for being such an overpowered unit, they're too quick to raise, and no other faction carrys that many of their elite troops. Maybe a lot of archers, but archers are totally different. They aren't invincible and 1 hit kill huscarls even on foot... (unless the mamluke has a lance or something on foot)

Is there a counter to mamlukes?

HA! One of my ally lords chased down an enemy lord with only 30 troops left, I rush in despite only having ~3 decent troops (my ally out numbered him anyways), and once we win I looted my books back and one of my weapons! Guess I didn't get screwed as badly as I thought!

I'd also like to note that this enemy lord only had about 30 troops total but only 23 that could fight. there were 12 mamlukes in his army that could fight... over 50% of his army was mamlukes! RRRAAAAAAAAGGEE >.<

Is there a counter to mamlukes?

...besides more mamlukes. I mean really, these guys are ridiculously overpowered. They level quickly (or just require a lower level than other units to become awesome), every Sarranid roles with 15+ (sometimes 40+), have amazing equipment, have great mounts, have high riding skills, hell they...

Best Blunt weapon in the game?

If you're looking for a good 1 handed blunt weapon to use on horse back, go for the Heavy Spiked Staff. The Heavy Spiked Staff is the best one handed blunt weapon you can get that actually has more than 75 reach. The HSS has ~110 reach, a little more I think. It actually works pretty well against Mamlukes, even the ones with spears. If you use the range properly you can get your hit off on them before they stab you with their spear. Of course you need some serious power strike and weapon proficiency to one hit kill them considering they're the most ridiculously overpowered unit in the game...
It can be used as a 2 hander, but theres better 2 handed blunt weapons than this.

    Manors in villages...

Building Manor in nearby city I own?! King Graveth doesn't gives me a castle... by what circumstances he would give me a city first? Anyway, if I can't dispatch my army in a Manor - there's no reason in it for me. I want building new forces, but with my army cap of 70 it's hard possible. A castle is needed... favorably national, like Almerra. If a Manor would be like Barracks, with option to hold troops - it would be much easier. Current situation is such, that I can't dispatch my army somewhere, to build new.

I know how you feel. Try raising your likeness with the king (some tend to favor hosting feasts, which gives you +2 likeness just for talking to him during the feast), or try doing missions for him. Even +10 seems like enough to raise your odds of being granted a fief when one is captured. 70 elite troops (if chosen wisely), should be able to take on any castle or trade town, as long as it isn't infested with enemy lords...

Once you take the fief, request it be yours. You may want to go to all nearby ally lords (and the king) and tell them you'd like to throw your name in for the candidacy, and try to persuade them to support you. It should work. If not, well... you likely lost some troops in the assault, now you have room for more!
Oh, and it should have netted you some renown, and renown can slightly increase your troop size.
