I've never had a problem fighting horse archers, because I always have more of them than the enemy.

Not quite like male troops. The game is in serious need of some female voice acting. Watching an army of Lady Knights silently stab the skies is...disturbing.

You also need a boatload of heavy stuff to slow down your map speed. If you're traveling light, more horses won't help.

My army consists entirely of Lesser Khans, Master Horse Archers, and their predecessors. I sleep through sieges.

Run down some sea raiders and pump your training skill like everyone else. Remember, unlike other skills, having trainer on multiple characters stacks, so you can get a LOT of xp if you train it on everybody.

Hardcoded, sadly, but you can download the troop tree generator which will save you a boatload of busywork.

Someone once said, "quantity has a quality all its own." Since item quality in this game leads to a directly measurable quantity (price), it's hard to argue that they're somehow magically different. Go fight some Swadian Knights with 0 Looting and let me know how many Chargers you get. It's not luck, it's numbers.

Real men take 80 STONES.

100% Lady Knights. Or Sword Sisters, for those of you unfortunate enough to not be playing Native Expansion.

Too many steps between level 1 recruits and level 90 demigods. Swadian Knights only take six upgrades, while Nord Huscarls need around 9. The experience they need to level up for the player is similar, but the NPC armies don't get high-tier troops like that. Thus, 50 kniggets vs. 200 Nord Skalds.

It straight-up improves the loot you get. Even fighting alone, with Looting 0, you'll never see high-end gear drop. Looting 10 will make those Masterwork Swords of War start showing up every time, even with a few hundred soldiers competing.

Define "best." Swadian Knights are just as unstoppable as they were in Native, but the other factions have impressive stats on their heavy horsemen, and Lady Knights are still well worth the price (especially if you're at war with Swadia).

4. I'm not sure, but dont the vaegers have the best archers?

Aye, they do. Rhodok Arbalestiers are better in certain circumstances, though.

Flattery will get you nowhere. Or anywhere. I can never remember which.

I disagree. The term "heavy" is pretty simple, and it's a VERY simple matter to pick out the big guys from the little guys when you're all running around hitting people with sticks. I'd interpret that as "Heavy Warriors" being similar to the regular "Warriors", just a bit beefier. They're better than the skinny guys because they hit harder. They can demand more pay because they can hit YOU harder if you don't give them a raise.

On a related note, apologies for dragging my feet with the Khergits. A few hours after my last post, my dog was hit by a car and killed, and I've been run ragged consoling various family members who were extremely attached to him. I can't promise results tonight, but things are finally calming down.

I hit Ctrl+F5 so my hero cheers properly, and use the ~ key to move the camera to a dramatic angle.

Man, if your castle had walls like the walls of text other people are posting in here, you'd have no trouble at all repelling that siege!
