  1. Release Notes?

    Thanks guys.
  2. Release Notes?

Where can I find release notes for the latest release? I havn't played in a while and want to see how much has been added before I consider redownloading it. I had a loot about but couldn't see them posted anywhere. Thanks.
  3. Modding Q&A [For Quick Questions and Answers]

This is going to sound very stupid. But where is the documentation for the ingame editor? I have done a search or ten but there are too many unrelated uses of the word to find anything.

    Specifically:

How does one create a whole new scene from scratch. Inside and outside scenes. Changing them. Not just renaming another town and putting it in a new location, but editing the scenes completely (making buildings, choosing textures, etc.) For some reason I cannot seem to find this mentioned anywhere.

    Thanks.

Edit: Hmm. After further looking around it seems that I might be confused in thinking you can create scenes in the ingame editor? How does one do this if not with that?

  5. Shininess Fixing Tutorial

I have been trying to work out the quick way to do this in photoshop and failing (which is really annoying, as it should be easy). Someone please cure my ignorance .
  6. Crossbow, throwing weapons or Bow?

    bows are about 30x better.
  7. Idea: Weapon-specific troops

The is basicly the suggestion I made in the second part of my post here:

    http://taleworlds.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1786

    So I agree, of course.
  8. Bow Damage

Sorry Kamamura, you're wrong on that account! Thrown weapons have played a part in warfare.

And Bows are better than thrown weapons in every way, including as a secondary weapon.
  9. How do I use lance on horse?

You need to have a fast enough horse to get the speed to couch your lance.
  10. Starting character stats are terribly unbalanced!

Weapon points don't mean that much, you get a lot by using the skills and the differences quickly get made up.
  11. Couch your lance!

    Why?

Because a free aiming lance would be too powerful.
Because a "swap side" feature would be clunky and add little that is not already achievable.

I'm not a buff about historical use of lances in warfare, but I'm under the impression that the thing is just held out in front of the horse and is driven in to people at high speed in order to kill or injure them.

I'm not sure how accuratly a jounsting contest relates to actual use in war. I was under the impression they just aimed across the body because they had a barrier in place to make the competition less injury prone and such.

I'm certainly not going to aim for anyone's shield, anyway..

And anyway, there are a bunch of things in the game that are not historicaly accurate, but they are fun and currently work; sometimes that's the important thing.
  12. Couch your lance!

Given that the lance is pretty much striaght in front of you it's easier to change the 'side' you're aiming at by turning the horse than some mechanic to switch it over.
  13. MOD Tools: What will we be able to do?

    Thanks for the replies!

  15. A simple guide to the different units

Ok. I'll put up some of the trees here in a second.

    Interestingly, Dark Knights are:

    Level: 33
    Str: 11, Agi: 15, Int: 12, Cha: 15.
    Health: 68

    Wound T 1
    Surgery 2
    Prisioner M 3
    Leadership 2
    Trade 2

    1H: 161
    2H: 169
    Polearms: 169
    Archery: 171
    Crossbow: 182
    Throwing: 172

So get them when you have the chance!
  16. Some New Ideas

How many times doo I need to say? You can already counter a couched lance with a two handed sword! Or a bardiche, polearm, etc...

I'm going to put up screenshots (or small videos if I get the space).

All that is needed is wider unit selection and some better AI.
  17. formations and battle tactics

Please search before you make a suggestion. It helps if all the related suggestions are kept in the same thread.

    Thanks.
  18. Couch your lance!

It's aimed. Sorry, no two ways around it.

If I had the webspace I could put up a demonstrative video.

Next time you're aiming at another horseman look low, see the damage you do to the person and damage to the horse.
Then after that aim high. If you aim properly you will just hit the person and not damage the horse at all.

I just made two videos demonstracting this, despite fraps lowering my frame rate to a point where lance finery is a bit harder.
  19. Is this where it ends?

Most of the those quests and such are randomly generated at this point so there's not much do be done there once you've done a few.

But there's still lots of other things to do that I find fun (hardest difficulty only):

    1. Master all the weapons.

    Archery.
    Mounted Archery (+ while moving)
    2H Sword Infantry
    1H+ Shield Infantry
    Pikeman
    Knight (Lance)
    Raider (Bardiche + Horse)
Thief (Throwing Knives, Athletics, Low/No armor)
    Etc.

There a lots of different combat types, and most of them are different enoguh that it will take you a while to master them.

    2. Try playing the game even more differently:

Play a game just using heros.
Play a game where you never enter combat but just send your troops in.
    Make a ranged/mounted/melee army.
    Etc.

    3. And the game is still in BETA, so I'd expect more stuff to come. (And there will definatly be more when the MOD tools are released.)
  20. Bow Damage

To be serious I don't know. I just remember reading somewhere that a bow does less damage from a short ranger than it would from a moderate one. I might be entirely incorrect though.
