    I wouldn't recommend making water an "item" really - it's best represented through abstraction in party slots. If you really want to have water in the inventory, I would recommend making the items "containers" instead. For all hero parties you'd want 2 slots - max amount of water (upgradable through some esoteric process, or buying containers from merchants/looting them from enemies) and current amount of water. Obviously the second amount is what's important, and you can interact with it in a meaningful way.

    I'd recommend making a new topic since this goes beyond the scope of a simple Q&A

    Nope. I've simulated NPCs buying items in towns with spare wealth, but they really don't need food or anything for the party. If you do add food to their inventory there's probably a chance it'll show up in the loot if you beat them. Speaking of loot, I don't really think parties actually gain any loot (unless they've defeated the player, in which case some of the items you lost can be retrieved), or gold after a battle.

    thanks! to balance this, i will create enemies that roam without speed penalty and prey on all slowed down troops to make it "dangerous" to travel without this water item...

    would you know how I make this specific item a priority of npc lords and parties to get/loot/have so they always seek it if it gets too low? hehe ^_^;
