  1. WARBAND - Questions About Tactics, Strategy and Overall Gameplay

    noosers 说:
And finally Sheriff/Milita parties are limited. If the max number is already sent out globally, no new ones will spawn. I´m not sure right now but I think the magic number is 15 milita parties or something all over the map. So even if you build the Sheriff in every single location you´ll never see a horde of them running around. Which makes luring the third party parties into this function that important because if you´re at good terms with some of them, like the varous questing knights and simliar, they´ll help to defend your realm.

Just curious what the role of a Sheriff is. I never get raided by roving bands of raiders/deserters/etc... Whenever I get attacked it's by factions that I'm at war with and they always come with 100+ troops. It's difficult to get a Sheriff that's large enough to deal with that. Also, whenever I got my Sheriff to a decent size it would always get tangled up with those 600+ Jatu Raider armies and get utterly destroyed
  2. Siege troops lost all their arrows ?

Does this affect troops that use javelins or other throwing weapons?
  3. WARBAND - Questions About Tactics, Strategy and Overall Gameplay

What are the requirements for sending out patrols? I currently own Singal and set up my own kingdom. I also own Singal's two associated villages (I forget their names). However, when I speak with the village elders there I don't see the option to send out patrols.

I have built the sheriff building already. Is there something else I'm missing? Thanks.
  4. What's YOUR Perfect Battle Size?

    Elvin 说:
I can't set mine past about 100 without encountering a lot of crashes on entering battles ( or trying to save the game...). The maximum level I've found that is fairly stable is about 80 a side, although on the few occasions it hasn't crashed I have been able to play the standard 150 man battles, with no lag or anything. Which makes me wonder what the heck is going on...

Perhaps it has to do with the type of terrain. If there's a lot of trees that's a lot more polygons that your GPU has to render.
  5. Battlefield Strategy: Its War O'clock, do you know where your hero is?

I usually have a very cavalry and archer heavy army. I flank with companions and rush head-on with the cav while archers pepper from the side. Usually works out quite well

1.000, causes a bug now and then when one side has vastly more than the others and the battle map can't fit their desired formation, but that's rather rare.

1000?!?! You must have a beast of a video card
  7. What's YOUR Perfect Battle Size?

How much RAM do you guys have? I'm only running on 3GB and it gets laggy at 150 battle size.
  8. What's YOUR Perfect Battle Size?

Hey all, Just curious what everybody's battle size is. Right now I'm hovering between 70-80 men and it doesn't feel quite as epic when there are only 40 guys on each size. However, when I turn it up to the max my computer slows down to a crawl. I'm still trying to figure out the perfect battle...

Is there a way to tell if my village patrol is still alive without seeing them on the map ?

As a follow-up. It'd be great if I could just talk to them and give them troops.

If it works the old MnB way you´ll have to ask for a castle and if you don´t get it granted you renounce your oath and may keep your holdings.
Instant war with your mother faction will occur 9/10 though and you´ll keep your old, bad relations with the other factions.

This is the only way to do it?  Fawzia made it sound like you could ask the king to renounce your oath and still retain your holdings.

    That's what I though too.

The only way your Steward can recruit from the surrounding villages, if you (not the AI lord) owns the adjacent village to that town/castle. If you don't, then you'll have to do it the old fashion way and recruit the troops yourself, and place them in your castle/town. Luckily, once you have a training ground (which you should) they should be automatically trained. In other words, that feature for your Steward is more of a King feature or f you happen to take that route of taking some castles/villages before joining a particular faction, then have your Steward recruit from the surrounding villages is very useful.

What upgrade path will units take that are being automatically trained? For example, if I have a skirmisher, what determines if it will upgrade towards huscarl or archer? Or do I have to go manually choose upgrades myself? Thanks!
  12. How do YOU start your kingdom?

    Fawzia dokhtar-i-Sanjar 说:
It is because you have such high relations and also you probably have + relations with the king.  You can always take back your oath and choose to keep your fiefs, in which case Gregory and most of the Ravenstern lords will immediately come against you, so you'd best have really big garrisons.  Your villages will be toast.

I've tried that but I never see the option to keep my fiefs. I'll go back home tonight and try that. I figure I should have really good relations with Gregory and Raven so I can ask for peace relatively cheaply.
  13. How do YOU start your kingdom?

So right now I'm a lord of Raven and have 100+ relations with them. Someone mentioned I could easily rebel against Raven by taking over a castle, requesting it and then declining the honor. I would then take over a 2nd castle and request it. However, this time I would not get the castle and I would have the option to rebel.

I've tried this several times now and even though I decline the first time I always receive the next castle I request. Is it because I have such high relations with Raven? Anyone know a workaround? Thanks.

    I won a 516 army with a 192 Army
    120 Ravenstern Rangers + 68 Pendor Armored Bowman + Companions & Me

What do you do when your rangers run out of arrows? Do you have them rout then get a new fresh wave w/ arrows?

The stewards go to any village that you own that is associated with the fief that the steward originates from.

'Surrounding villages' ! (or whatever it says, nearby? bah whatever.)
None of your stewards are going to hump their arse halfway across the kingdom to visit that one small village.

The recruiters do not appear on the map, it just happens, gradually.

This explains it...I guess this feature is not very useful for those that are vassal lords. It's not very often that you own both the castle and the surrounding villages. In my experience when I request the castle, I get the castle and some other lord receives the associated villages.

How many troops are typically recruited over a month assuming theres a village or two that you own that's owned and associated to the castle?

    Fawzia dokhtar-i-Sanjar 说:
Your stewards can only recruit from your villages, not from those belonging to other lords.  You can try to recruit anywhere you like, if you have good relations with the village in question, but your steward can't.

So when I send my 4 stewards out to recruit will they all travel to the single village I own even though its not associated with any of the castles I own? Are the recruiters manifested on the map in any way (i.e. like caravans or travelling villagers)? I guess I'm just curious from a code/logic perspective what's happening underneath the hood.

    Thanks
  17. WARBAND - Questions About Tactics, Strategy and Overall Gameplay

I'm still playing my 3.2 game as a Raven lord with 4 castles and 1 village. For each of the castles, its associated villages are all owned by other Raven lords. I noticed that when I tell my stewards to recruit troops from the villages for a month nothing actually happens. Do I have to own the castles' associated villages to have my stewards recruit from them? I'm having a helluva time running around dropping off troops to each of the castles right now. Thanks!

How often are marshals elected in your game? I'm currently a lord in Ravenstern and am about 220 days in. I haven't seen an election for marshal yet. Is there any way I can induce an election and put my name up for consideration? My relation with all of the Ravenstern lords is pretty high.

Before it used to be every 90 days in WB, but since one patch (don't remember the version) it was changed to a new system. Now a marshal will be selected if there is no other more pressing political agenda on the AI political list and the current marshal is not engaged in a campaign (and before an election the current marshal needs to be dismissed from marshal duties by for example controversy or being captured etc).

Does your faction have a marshal currently by the way?

Yes, it currently does. I believe it's Carolous (sp?). He's so lazy with starting wars. The last period of peace lasted nearly 100 days  I wish there was some way to induce a vote. Anyone else run into this issue and found a workaround?

Has anyone ever found a bag of blunt arrows? I recall seeing it in a regular Warband game but I can't seem to find any while playing PoP. It makes for easy prisoner gathering
