Thanks guys, that looks promising (never would have thought to look for merchant inventories in the category of troop sizes). Since I have never worked with python, I might need a little more help.
The changes to the scripts.txt are pretty good, the "always" factor is just a little too much for my intentions. I want to improve the chances of finding high quality equipment without cheating into getting it easily.
Is there a list of the functions these numbers provide - or maybe even a tool like TweakMB that includes these parts?
[Background: In vanilla M&B, you were able to get all lordly plate armor pieces, a champion warhorse/charger and masterwork weapons in almost every playthrough. In Warband, even after several hundred in-game days and even more visits to horse merchants, there is a pretty good chance that no champion heavy horse ever turns up. Money stacks up while you are still missing better equipment and you can't buy it because it simply never shows up. That's why I presume that increasing the amount of horses available - as it was in vanilla - might already do it.]
