  1. Patch Notes e1.0.4

    Amazing!
I have been loving my campaign and I haven't run into any major issues yet. Seems like before I get to the point where others are finding bugs you've already fixed them!

  3. Game always crashes, help plz (Was first Awefull mod, hate it)

Note also that I'm comparing this to Floris' pre game tactics or whatever mod that came from.
  4. Game always crashes, help plz (Was first Awefull mod, hate it)

I'm just disappointed with the VI. Mind you, anything is better than the charge and slaughter tactics of the original cavalry armies but this slows down the battles and everything but archers is practically wasted time. No matter what I make my cavalry do (besides charge) they just sit by and soak up damage. Even when I lead them unopposed into a soft line of archers they mostly just stare...
100% archers in the open field holding in a line is not an improvement over 100% cavalry on charge.

  6. Warband: I cannot see any servers

I have the same problem. It's really taking away half the game from me.
I made my avatar, clicked join game and then I have the proper screen.
However, it hangs at retrieving server list - nothing happens.

If after a few minutes I click cancel, refresh, or retry a search nothing happens. If I click back nothing happens. It makes the 'click' sound and I remain stuck on that screen.
The only funtioning I have on the screen is the drop down list of internet/local area and the ability to choose which list I 'sort' by.
I can only ctrl-alt-dlt to get out of that screen.

I also checked the rgl_log file. Nothing new appears after this happens. The only thing that is at all out of the ordinary is a small blurb during load up. It shows up everytime and I have no idea if it effects anything.

finally. I have no problems playing any other online games, including warcraft and starcraft multiplayers, LoL, WoW, CoD and a few other random rts games.

If anyone has any ideas, let me know.
  7. Sarranids - This has to be a joke

To be fair, when I was the khergit marshal I completely destroyed sarranid armies with my much smaller group.

On another note. The auto-resolve feature needs to be worked better. I absolutely hate having to engage in so many pointless battles with 100 elite knights vs. piddly amounts of bandits.. Because If I auto resolve, I lose some very expensive knights.

If I run in there with them, the battle ends after first charge and all my men are still on their horses. EVEN if I alt-tab and read this forum.

Mamlukes don't break the game. They are perfectly powerful the way they are.

What DOES break the game is how much easier everything is with an all cavalry force. I want to try out some nord/rhodok strategies, but I don't want to have to travel at terrible speeds and hunt bandits with the incredibly repititive small fights. If I'm going non-cavalry. I only want to get into massive battles or siege combat. I don't want to waste time with all of those other things. I really enjoy the mount and blade combat, but only about 50% of fights are exciting. The rest are simply time consuming.
  8. Can't play MP,is tale worlds doing something....

What ended up working out for you perk?

I also have the stuck on retrieving servers. It just hangs there, nothing ever shows up. I can click on buttons but none of them have any functionality.
  9. Sarranids - This has to be a joke

The cost of Heavy Cavalry is still pretty massive compared to the other units. The khergits main advantage is their large number of efficient cavalry. Which lets you as a player dominate open field fights for a very long time. Now, take that khergit force into nord territory and try for a castle.

In the open field Heavy cavalry is in every way a blitz-tank, and you need to set up a very good strategy to beat their effectiveness.

Caught in the planes against a force of heavy horse=you're dead.

    Rhodoks=Best siege defense,
Nords=Best siege and awesome siege defense.

By comparison. I walked through the Swadian military with 150 or so units by hitting cities with Huscarls, Vaegir Guards, Hired Blades and Sarranid Mamlukes (also functions as a wicked heavy infantry). + Random units for the numbers.

Mamlukes should be a bit more expensive. However, Mamlukes are the Sarranids strength and their factions whole set up focuses around mamlukes and a crapload of skirmishers. Swadians had lots of X bows, man at arms (efficient heavy cav) and a dozen or so knights.

Sarranid mid tier units are less effective than nearly all the other mid tier comparisons I did. Which very much fits their faction style. High cost/reward elites and a strong economy.

@ laheja, yes, I also noticed my vaegirs-huscarls were very effective at destroying khergits and lesser cavalry in melee. They also almost always survived an enemy charge.
  10. Single Player Strats, Battle Tactics and Load-outs.

I know what you mean about the casualties, the nords sieged Suno recently, and due to ladder/siege mechanics I just stood at the stop and side spamming overhead chops... anyways.
    Afterwards,
I rode out with this layout + a whole wack of random troops. The fight was a good 500 more men than I had and I had to 'lead my men' into the fight around 5 times before a win, still, very few casualties (plenty o' wounded). It really is the heavy cav that cleans up in these cases. Swadian or Sarranid. It's to the point where I really hope to catch their entire army in the open field so that the combined swadian/sarranid cavalry can clean up without risking my city defender/siegers.

I'm mainly losing men now when I siege. Most of the recent casualties came from taking sargoth. Like I said, sieging Nords is just down right painful. Whereas most of the city/castle fights are easy once you've gotten inside, Nord units only get tougher.

@seekster. I've been trying to load my city garrisons with as many rhodok X bows as possible. They definitely mow the ladder climbers (especially the last tier sharpshooters). I've been looking to expand my 'estates' into rhodok lands. Do they have any other awesome units? No rhodokian heavy cavalry?

Vaegir Guard/Hired Blades are also excellent siege infantry, and it doesn't feel as much of a loss when they go down.
  11. Single Player Strats, Battle Tactics and Load-outs.

I'm also loving the Nords huscarls lately. Because much of my game lately has revolved around taking/holding cities and castles.

I started as a khergit and ammassed an amazing number of elite horseman that just dominated any open ground available. My favourite is to ride around on a warhorse with a war cleaver and heavy heavy armor. You are very much a tank in the open field.

After becoming a khergit marshal (and destroying swadia/vaegir/sarranid armies) I decided to take a bit more land. Sieging swadians was buttercup cakes. In fact, now that I've started my own campaign I chose swadia for my home, because they were just so bloody weak at everything and my one 150ish warband took all three 300+ towns and several 5-1 fights. Then I tried to take some nord castles---- OUCH

Currently running around with a mixed army composed of:
10 or so Huscarls (great in sieges)
10 or so Vaegir guard (leftovers from a recruiting spam during peace)
10-15 sarranid mamlukes (absolutely no unit outshines these guys, Huscarls are great with their ranged attacks, especially in sieges. But mamlukes RULE the open field AND make excellent heavy infantry... they are dying off though! I shoulda chose sarranid lands for my start, but their armies were so tough compared to swadia.)
    30 Hired Blades
    2 companions.
10+ Swadian knights (very strong units too, but not quite as excellent as mamlukes. They lack something)
Recruits, so I can attempt to garrison the castles that are constantly harrassed by the remnants of the nords and those pesky overfed khergits.

I'm also enjoying playing around with throwing weapons. Great damage, and theres nothing more satisfying than *head shot*
