    This installed 2 sub folders, source code (only modders need this) and txt files (players copy these)
    Should I now see Diplomacy as an option when I run Warband? (I don't)
    No doubt this question has been raised many times before but guidance would be appreciated.

    You're supposed to only extract the files from the txt files folder into your modules folder. Do that and you should be able to see the module on the selection screen.

    I think the chamberlain only appears if you have a castle or town under your control.

    Recruitment/difference between WF&S and previous versions

    Yes, in WFAS you mostly recruit mercenaries from camps until you join a faction, then you can recruit their faction troops from cities.
